an amazing experience, the building itself already worth a visit. the rooms (I had Tower suite) is comfortable, the bed was really good, the breakfast is so good, by the way, the staff is absolutely dedicated to give you all you need to feel very spoiled. the gardens around the house brings an enormous sense of peace and tranquility.

We enjoyed very much our stay in Achamore house. Rooms are immaculate, very comfortable and breakfast was good. Obviously it is not a cheap accommodation, but it is really worthwhile for a special occasion. Owners are nice and helpful and, as I said, rooms are awesome!

Its important to note that Achamore is more a Guest House than a hotel, e.g. no bar or room service as such. Notwithstanding this the facilities are first class, a snooker room (vaulted), and cinema room alongside an interesting flower essence business being run from a portion of the mansion. Breakfast is a treat and the rooms spacious and clean.... More

This is not your usual hotel/bb but it is totally unique. We loved the old house with all its quirky featues and faded grandeur in places. We had two girls( 8 and 11) and they thought it was super with all the corridors and stairways and interesting public rooms. The owners made us feel very welcome and did all they... More

If you want a key to your room and a telly this place is not for you. However if you want a chance to stay in one in a really stunning house full of lovely things, interesting books, vast collection of DVDs, full size snooker table, endless amounts of hot water and deep baths then this is for you. We... More

It is not possible to find any reason to stay in this hotel. Not only is the house in very poor condition and falsely marketed by a country mile. It has no comparison to photos in the brochures or website. No keys, ensuite or reception. Scruffy and untidy. Now that was the highlight of the review. The owner was a... More

The owner was rude and insulting and if it had not been late at night when we arrived we would not have stayed.. Our room was adequate but very overpriced at 45 pounds each with no ensuite bathroom. We asked for a key to our room and were told there wasn;t one,. Later I found it hidden under a blanket... More

My husband was running the Kintyre Way on the May Bank Holiday weekend and we had booked a rather unexciting hotel down the penninsula for the night after the race so wanted somewhere different for the Monday night. When I met him at Tayinloan round lunchtime during the race he suggested checking out the island of Gigha. The tourist office... More
