Nice looking building, friendly and helpful staff, food was great value for money. Extremely irritated by the fact an in-house club was open and playing heavy bass that reverberated through the walls of the building, on a Sunday night. Especially considering the club/music is mentioned on their website - but only warns about Friday and Saturday. I’d have booked somewhere else if I knew.

Stayed over for a night having attended a retirement do in one of the function rooms. The twin room was fabulous. It was spacious, well equipped and absolutely immaculate. The staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was faultless. The views of the docks and River Ouse are interesting and adds to the experience of staying at this place. Despite been quite local I will return for another night. Thank you The Lowther.n

Booked a table thinking it might be busy! However I always feel a bit apprehensive when all the tables but one are empty. ...justified sadly I had the lowther burger..which frankly was like no other burger I had tasted in my life and not in a good way. My husband had the curry which was dry and bland. My advise.....don't eat there. So disappointed.

Upon arrival the reception area looked like a bomb had hit it as it was untidy and lots of equipment in the hallway, initial impression wasn't great. Staff checking us in did not tell us where breakfast was in the morning or explain times. The room was great value but was slightly dirty. Stains on the carpet, cobwebs in the light fitting and dust over the iPod alarm clock. Use of the toilet was difficult as the towel rail was very hot and I burnt my knee. For a midweek stay I would've expected it to be a quiet stay, however there must've been a function on as the overly loud music was thumping until gone midnight. This wasn't explained upon booking. Breakfast was great and fresh, tasty bacon and sausage. Beers were nice in the bar, gin bar is a gem. I was glad the voodoo chilli bar was closed during the stay. It's sad that the street is so run down and derelict as this could be a great location. Would stay again, just a little disappointed with the noise and cleaning issues.
