The restaurant is wellcoming and the food amazing. The staff are very friendly. I had
"Rehschnitzel, Rotkraut and Spätzli" which was cooked to perfection with a nice glass of red wine. The other day I had Tagliatelli in a mushroom sauce, that was again out of this world. The prices are very reasonable.

Amazing atmosphere and fantastic food. Very friendly service, a really nice evening. We had the menu of the evening and they helped with the wine selection which was a real hit. The owner gave us very valuable information about the next days ski trip. Next time we will stay in this hotel.

We only stayed one night at the Sonnenhotel Soldanella-Sonneck but wish we could have stayed more. The rooms were very nice and very clean. We had a 2 room family style suite with a bathroom between our connecting rooms and it worked perfectly for a family of 4. We had a balcony with an amazing view, it was the perfect way to wake up in the Swiss Alps! We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and the hashbrowns covered in bacon was the best meal of our entire trip. In the morning we were greeted to a table with our name on a card welcoming us for breakfast. The staff was very friendly, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Samnaun.

Very clean and classy kind of hotel.
Location is breathtaking.
Has parking, free wifi.
Restaurant is also top and the bar has lots of beers to choose from.
Offers a one day pass to all transport facilities in the area, at least we got that and proved to be a great gift.

Very nice, friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Great value. WiFi is excellent. Very quiet. The hotel restaurant was very good and better value than the ones in the main village. The guest card gives access to the lifts as well.

We felt really welcome just as soon as we arrived at our pre-booked room. The route to Samnaun simply amazing. Our room, just awesome. There were welcome drinks and chocolates as soon as we arrived. People at the hotel spoke mainly German, but this was no obstacle to our warm communication. If only we had 2-3 more days to stay there! And, if we ever go back to Switzerland, we are definitely staying there again!

We stayed here over Easter in 2015 and chose it primarily based on reviews, location and what we thought the overall quality of the establishment would be. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed and when issues were raised with those in charge they just didn't seem to care.

It all started when we checked in and immediately found several dark hairs on the bed sheets and several shorter ones. It can happen despite being washed so we didn't plan to mention it.

On the first evening meal my partner enquired as to the meal as the name of the dish was not one we were familiar with. We were told it was chicken and so it was ordered, but when it came out it was actually very fatty beef complete with the bones which was something my partner would never eat or order and so refused to eat. This didn't get particularly better during the week either, as we had a menu that mentioned "Vegetable broth" but when it came out it actually was laden with fish and the broth was naturally very fishy. Not terrible to eat, but certainly a surprise and if you're not into strong fish flavours it wouldn't be something you would want.

The first day after skiing we waited for the ski bus at the correct location and waited patiently for the complimentary hotel ski bus that runs every 15 minutes. After seeing several other hotel buses coming, going and coming again after 30 minutes or so we rang the hotel only to find out that there is another hotel bus we were meant to get at certain timeframes and we were in that timeframe. The one we had seen come and go several times. They did not tell us this information earlier despite as asking about how the ski bus works the evening before.

Now on the 3rd problem in a day, we decided to raise the issues with the manager to discover that they didn't really care about the first two issues and the 3rd issue was our fault for not reading a notice board near reception that we didn't realise existed.

The week got worse from there from being served cold ravioli to having very unfriendly wait staff, which we feel was likely because she was told off about the first issue above. It was quite nasty, to the point of when serving the meal she would literally drop the plate onto the table from an inch above making a loud banging sound like a angry teenager, to asking/demanding one word questions out of the blue like "Entree?" to ask if we want entree but (whilst we were finishing our salad) said in a way she was demanding or needing something from us.

One of the main attractions of the hotel was the sauna. However to our massive disappointment there was a very strong smell of diesel in the room (to the point you could smell it outside the door in the hallway) and so we didn't get to use it at all. After the previous problems we didn't complain about this, and just decided to get on with the week.

The positives? Overall the food wasn't terrible. Out of 10? maybe a 6 or 7. Fine for a standard village hotel I guess apart from the bad meals we had. The salad buffet at the start was great, however on the first say I saw a few pieces of "Field Salad" (nussli salad) left in a bowl and thought to myself I would have some the next day, however it wasn't served daily but it did come back later in the week. When we checked in, they gave us a coupon for a complimentary drink at the bar which was nice. They even served bar snacks (for free). On the first night we were seated at dinner at a table in a nook, far from the window that had beautiful views and we asked if we could sit in the empty tables over there. They said no, it was occupied (but was empty) however later other families sat there. This became a positive as the next night they asked us if we wanted to sit by the window, which we happily accepted. I guess they just rotate the guests around as most would like the view. The wine we had one night was good.

Overall, I'm now starting to look for another place to stay next Easter and definitely won't be coming back here. Some of the people we spoke to at the bar etc had been returning to the same hotel for several years and so it can't be all bad, but it certainly wasn't great for us.

Hotel Soldanella / Samnaun Ravaisch : Top value-for-money hotel among all swiss hotels visited during more than 20 summer holidays.

Thank you, dear owners family, for having offered me a splendid recreational week amidst the purity of Samnaun's nature.
Thank you, dear new friends, for having walked together, warmly discussed about origins, cultures and excursions, shared photos and memories.while enjoying perfect meals prepared for us by talented professionals-including the owner-and served with charm and flair by the unique Roswitha-in-our-hearts,over linen double-clothed tables, everyday freshly and differently decorated,in a "heimelige" sweet environment that became our living-room for a week or so.
Thank you,the three young Jenal boys, for your impeccable manners.
Thank you, young chamber-maid ,for having -spontaneously,voluntary and without even having been asked for-washed,cleaned,dried and ironed-und zwar in no time atall-my clothes-turned-so-dirty after an involuntary slip-in-the-mud,during my first explorative early-morning mountain hike.
Thank you God ,for having guided me to this superb hotel,at this magnificent place, among those wonderful people. And keep all of us in good health to rejoin each other once more, next year !

P.S. The above comment had been written (and published) six years ago, after my first stay at the Hotel Soldanella.

Now,in August 2014,and after four more summer-weekly stays in this very Hotel (Soldanella Sonneck renamed), I only find the same feelings and impressions to write, with the added pleasure of having "discovered" a vacational place which gladly surprises me every year with a certain "plus",be it the increased attractineness of the Samnaun's offerings,or the excellent cuisine,or the friendliness of the owners family and the always familiar ambience, the cordiality and comradeness of the guests, coming back every year, their motivated summer "pilgrimage",or - not least - the fairness and,by common sense, extreme value of the billing, all these offering me the perfect recreational break,so vital to "survive" the difficulties of the year to come.
I wouldn't like to finish this comment without mentioning the sweet chamber-maid Sonja, longtime carer of the guests' sleep in the impeccable rooms of their dreams, who remembered, each and every of the past years,to have made my bed before my arrival with a light woolen blanket, instead of the nordic duvets - available anyway aside - as per my personal preference.Thank you, dear, for your attentiveness.
