We brought two groups of cyclists to the Can Catala during our trip to Catalonya. It is a short walk to the restaurants and to the water and there is ample free parking for cars as well as a spacious garage for bicycles. Rooms are spartan but spotless and the beds are comfortable. Breakfasts are wonderful. Lots of choices (including...

We are in L'escala from time to time due to summer holidays and usually by car. The same this year - we take a one day stay on the road back to Denmark. We like L'escala and nothing change this year. Hotel is located near bus stop L'escala and where the old town started. It is not far to any...

I have stayed here on two occasions have found the owners to be fantastic hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotless, some with balcony's and the breakfasts are excellent, with a gluten free area and milk options such as soya, almond and oat. The location is right in the centre of the village with gated secure free...

We stumbled across this small family run hotel by accident, as we'd lost our way in the rain while driving to Gerona. We were tired, it was raining and we were quite desperate to find a place to stay in this town. We entered the lobby and the bar, and the price offered to us by one of the owners,...

We spent 3 nights at Can Catala recently and were pleasantly surprised by the quality considering that the price of the room was pretty low. Not only was it fairly cheap, but the price also included an excellent breakfast, parking and our dog (which many other hotels charge extra for). The staff are friendly and helpful - they set up...

Very clean and family run. Could do with a lick of paint , my balcony wall was very grubby. Looked like new windows had been put in but never redecorated. Really good breakfast buffet style with loads of variety. Rooms clean and comfortable bed. Has a lift , its close to the beach and across the road from the main...

Stayed at Hotel Can Català for ten days from 25th August. The hotel is remarkably comfortable for a one star. The owners will do all that they can to help. Breakfast is a simple buffet style but there is more than enough to fill you! We would not hesitate to stop here again. The Hull family Ellesmere Port England

We stayed here during the Pentecost weekend for 3 nights. Very clean, with an excellent quality to price ratio, with free WiFi and breakfast included. There is free hotel parking in a courtyard behind the hotel, but it can fill up during busy periods. Our room, on the 1st floor had a large balcony (15 sq meters). The only minor...

Family-run hotel, with simple decoration, very clean, and comfortable bed. I was assigned a room in the first floor, with a terrace overlooking the parking lot. The terrace was a plus, had a table and chairs. Parking free of charge is also a plus, and wifi, too. The hotel location is very convenient, within walking distance from the old city,...

L'Escala is amazingly beautiful yet quiet and comfortable, and it has the best anchovies in the world. People here worked in fishing many years ago, but the beaches and the Roman ruins in the nearby village make it a great tourist spot - and also an unpretentious one. The hotel is perfect, in the sense that it fits the local...
