We first came to the Hotel Catalonia in sept 2018 for 5 nights all inclusive. Our holiday then was amazing and the staff cannot do enough for you and the roof pool is fab. Unfortunately when we returned in June the first night was a disaster. As it was my other half’s birthday I asked for a sea view or higher floor but we were given room 105; it was dingy and small and the noise of the hotel next door was ridiculous and I thought I had made a grave error. The next morning I spoke with Ana Marta, reception manager and she moved us to the 8th floor. From then on we had a great stay. The rooms are clean and the staff are lovely. The hotel is 3 star and I’ve read numerous reviews where people have complained but they clearly expected 5 star service for 3 star bucks! Yes there’s a few cracked tiles here and there and sometimes the food is a bit samey but for a budget break this place is great. The roof pool is small but perfectly formed and we were quite happy to sit up there most of the day tanning. I’ve researched most the hotels and accommodation in Calella and pound for pound the Hotel Catalonia is the best value for money. …
Don’t come here. The food was terrible and cold. You have to pay to use the safe in your room and for the WiFi. I had to stay with 3 other people and they just shoved 4 beds in a 1 bed room. The rules of the hotel made it sound like it was run by the mafia and they had to take my passport at the front desk. The only up side was that it was close to the beach.
A good location and very convenient for the bus to airport. On arrival we were disappointed to discover that there was an extra charge of €20 (€5 returned when you handed back the key) for use of the small fridge in the room. The Wi-Fi was also only available in your room at an extra charge €16 But we didn't bother with this as the free WiFi in the lobby wasn't very good and we both had roaming data. Unfortunately there as also an extra charge to use the safe in the room, all of which just took the fun out of the start of our holiday. However our room which we had paid extra at booking to have a sea view did not disappoint. It was spotless and a good size with a large bathroom. A bit dated but that didn't worry me. The view from the large terrace was stunning. The teŕrace was well equipped with 2 chairs a small table and 2 sun loungers. We were half board and the food was only average but there was plenty of different dishes. The best thing about the hotel was definitely the rooftop pool, even though it wasn't very deep it was lovely to cool down looking out over the sea. The only downside was that our room was directly under the pool and sometimes water splashed down on the terrace without warning 😂…
Friendly and helpful staff, good location, close to the beach and city centre. Tasty food with a lot of variety. Swimming pool on the roof is nice and clean, also with beautiful sea view. Minuses are definitely extra paid drinks in all inclusive during dinner and sapour and the fact that hotel despite being in a quiet location is quite noisy, walls seem to be really thin, you hear echo of all hotels noises like door knocking, beds moving early in the morning. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, as it's a good value for the good price.
Really bad from start to finish. Extremely noisy every noise seems to echo across the hotel, to make that worse there seemed to be college trips here where the students would just knock on each others doors all night and shout. Food was awful, and that one time you might find something that was okay it was always cold-room temperature. Breakfast is not worth getting up for, full board- no drinks included. To top it all off we waited 2 hours for a transfer to be told we didn't wait outside our hotel we had to wait elsewhere for it so then had to rush the airport and pay 125 euros in a taxi. Had to pay daily to use the fridge in the room and the room wifi. On the upside the cleaners were friendly and efficient and location of hotel was good. I am not one to complain but this was Awful!…
