This hotel is a nightmare basically!! We went for my neices 30th birthday (8 of us, ages ranging from 19 to 51) and we were disgusted with the behaviour that was allowed in the hotel, full of unruly kids running riot and no one could care less!! Will never be back!! EVER!!!!

Please stay away from this Hotel at all costs it literally is the worst Hotel experience we've ever had. I have came home so mentally and physically traumatised that I have had to phone into work sick which is very unusual for me. It was like having a holiday at a youth hostel for unruly, arrogant, selfish, noisy teenagers. We stayed on the 3rd floor where all through the night they were shouting, partying, slamming doors, arguing and if you asked them to please have consideration for people trying to sleep they laughed at you, then when you got back into bed they would knock your door and run off. My husband got dressed and went down to reception so many times (because the phone in the room didn't work) all the guy would say is he's been up and down all night they take no notice. Throw in a dog barking all night and the the board AKA the bed with one pancake pillow and we were never going to get any sleep. It was chilly in the evening and the spare curtain as a throw just wasn't enough to keep you warm. To be fair there was a blanket in the wardrobe but I feel that if you gave it a chance it would happily walk out on its own as i was cold my husband had to use beach towels as blankets. On our first night we had no electricity and had to get ready for bed with the torches on our mobile phones. In the Morning we had the power back but then over the next couple of days our room card would only work intermittently. Don't expect any privacy as the walls are paper thin. Where do I start with the delights of the Dinning Hall !!! OMG it was disgraceful more like a bush tucker trial greasy strange looking food either over or under cooked after a couple of days picking around cardboard chips and being "SICK" we made the decision for our own safety to eat out even though we were all inclusive. My Sister in Law almost choked on a piece of tube like gristle that was in some meat with no name. The 'Chef' who fried the burgers never changed his gloves and yet he was preparing raw meat then cutting up cooked pizzas and adding cheese slices to the burgers. Cross contamination was rife. My sister had a confrontation with some of the teenagers that were so rude and obnoxious to her and had been purposely keeping her awake the night before. They found it funny and then their so called minder that was supposed to be looking after them got very aggressive yet the staff did nothing! The security is non existent one man on his own is just not acceptable. YES..... it is a three star hotel but does that mean it's acceptable to offer no customer service, reasonable accommodation or basic hygiene? Jet2 who we travelled with appeared to care when we told them but they should still be accountable for recommending this hotel. I could literally write a book on this place I'm so cross at such a waste of a hard earned holiday and all the other people this terrible Hotel must have disappointed. We honestly were counting down to coming home, my regret is that we can't leave a minus star rating so "PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't go there!!!!

Stay away from this hotel!!! Upon arriving and seeing our rooms for the first time they were very small and cramped. This consisted of a double and 2 single beds squashed together with very little room to move, one tiny wardrobe and one drawer for 3 adults and 1 child to share. This did cause concern straight away for the older lady travelling with us as she struggles with small spaces. We did our best to adapt to this pushing her bed close to the patio doors which we left open so she could get some sense of space. The next morning we asked reception if they could help with a bigger room. They said no and offered us an additional room at extra cost but this was only available for a couple of nights here and there as the hotel was full so would mean she would have to keep moving in n out of our room. We went on to have unbearable problems on a night once the bar had closed downstairs. The rooms surrounding us were filled with German students who would be continuously staggering about drunk, running up n down the corridors and stairs, shouting, knocking on doors and tended to congregate in the room next to us or around us, music blasting out and loud voices whilst the earlier hours. The phone in our room didn’t work so we couldn’t ring down to reception (the issue with the phone was reported to 2 different staff on reception but nothing done). This meant one of us had to keep getting dressed to go down to reception to complain. There always seemed to be 3 or 4 people there also complaining about the noise so this led me to believe that none of the phones worked in this hotel to contact reception! One of the evenings as I passed the room next to ours to head to reception to complain, there were that many in the room they couldn’t even close the door and were spilling out into the corridor. We were a party of 5 ladies and 2 children... Having to pass these groups at 4:30/5:30 in the morning alone was quite frighting if I’m being honest! There were cameras on every corridor on each floor of the hotel so why wasn’t this being monitored by staff and kept under control?? I believe this was due to no security in this hotel!! so all that would happen is the one guy alone on reception would come up ask them to quieten down, instead of sending them all to their own rooms.. they would either congregate in another room and carry on ( we could still hear them) or they would go a little quieter for a short time then the noise would rise again just as you were beginning to drop off to sleep. We had 2 nights that fights broke out in the corridor outside our rooms, this woke both our girls who are aged 8 & 10 and they were in tears and terrified. We were to scared to go out and go down to reception and we were trapped in our rooms with no phone to ring for help! We went to reception to report these events in the morning, the receptionist went up to the rooms to have a word but made absolutely no difference. This all became unbearable for my friend she was constantly having panic attacks and I had to get her a flight home. With all this going on through the night we tried to make the best of our daytime and relax, whilst our 2 girls could play round the pool. We tuck it in turns to try and catch up with sleep whilst the other were watching the girls and keeping them safe. Although there was a few hen doo’s and groups celebrating birthdays etc arriving, we weren’t to worried about the kids being effected through the daytime in the pool but that soon changed when they decided to move from round the tables and were all drinking whilst in the pool where our girls were playing. Could this family holiday get any worse??? Yes it could!! A few days in and bus’s we’re pulling up with groups of football lads of all ages and nationalities to stay in the hotel. The pool now went mental, the boys were rough jumping in, flinging balls about etc and had no concerns or care for the young ones in the pool that might get in their way or even the older generation around the pool. An older lady was knocked flying and when she pulled the boy up she was abused in what ever language he spoke whilst he and others laughed at her, one of the adults (I’m guessing a coach) got in her face and raised his voice also. We could hear her say that no wonder the boys were unruley if this is the example he sets and there was a cheer and a lot of clapping of agreement from around the pool. Before the new arrivals meal times hadn’t been to bad but now that had become a nightmare. The hotel didn’t adapt the the amount of people they had now to feed. We were having to queue 30 minutes plus to get into the restaurant, then once in, there were queues for everything, the kids just jumping in pushing and shoving. Didn’t matter what time you went in it was the same. On 2 occasions by the time we had got in and managed to find a table and to get a plate of food.. the staff came and told us we had 10 minutes to get more food if we wanted as it was closing. We couldn’t even relax and enjoy a meal now! I don’t understand why they didn’t extend meal time to adapt?? We chatted with 3 different people that couldn’t stand this any longer and were moving to other hotels so the the hotel was well aware there was a problem and just didn’t care. On the last day before we left the hotel we had chatted with a couple who were also leaving. The day before She had been sunbathing close to the hotel side where there were balcony’s above. She had been hitfrom above by human faeces, it was brown and she described it as smelling the same way! it was all in her hair, all over her shoulders and went all the way down to her legs. The reception tried to convince her that it was a pigeon ( must have been a pigeon the size of an emu ) I personally had been hit by pigeon poo it was white, no smell and no bigger than my finger nail nothing like what had hit her! By now we were desperate to get out of this hotel. We no longer saw any point in complaining about the other issues. Our rooms not being cleaned every day or towels being replaced and the sheet not changed once during our stay. Our rooms were missed 3 times during our stay and we had to go ask for clean towels. Two of the girls suffered stomach upsets. After we spotted how cloudy the wine was at dinner one evening we wondered if that was the cause as they were the only 2 that had the wine with their evening meals. We are a group that have been going on holiday together for 4 years now. We always book 3 star we don’t expect much.. just a relaxing time, clean rooms, edible food and a pool area for the kids and to feel safe! We have never had issues before! We got intouch with our travel company to help us move hotels. We had a phone call at 12:39 whilst we were out in Calella ( what we were now having to do most days to get away from the hotel ) the hotel offered £926 if we checked out before 2pm giving us 1hr and 21minutes. Even if we had still been at the hotel this was an impossible task but they probably knew that. We rushed back frantically to the hotel. The other girls packed as I searched online to get another hotel but none of the sites would let me book from today’s date would only allow 2 days forward. I checked the prices on the sunshine site for 6 days using the other dates to find a hotel we could afford with the money we had been offered. Then found the number to make a booking over the phone. I was in a queue for at least 30minutes. We finally found something but missed the deadline of 2pm. We were advised that we would have to follow the same process the next day and request check out fees once again. We checked out the following day and moved to the other hotel only to find that now they would only offer us £393.38 considerably less. They obviously used the fact that we had already checked and didn’t care one bit as we were advised to accept it as they would most likely offer us nothing if we challenged it! I’m disgusted with the treatment of this hotel. They have absolutely no concern for the care of their guests they are only interested in money! They are well aware of the problems in this hotel as I personally witnessed the complaints every evening along with mine and guest being forced to leave and pay to go to another hotel A lot of the issues could have been avoided if they actually put some thought into how they run this hotel. They advertise it as a family hotel but it isn’t and it’s been miss sold to us! They cater for groups and allow them to party till all hours. They know who they have staying in the hotel! So why surround a family with small children with drunken students??? Separate them put family’s at one side and the groups at the other. It’s not rocket science !!! I spoke to one couple who stayed on the 5th floor in the corner and they had no issue with the noise so it is possible in this hotel if managed correctly. They have cameras on each corridor use them to monitor what is going on! (I dare say this costs money so they don’t even work!) Have a security guard to police the behaviour through the night! (This is the only hotel I’ve ever stayed in and haven’t seen any kind of security) but this obviously costs money so they don’t have one! The reception tried to tell us there was security patrolling because of the noise issue but nobody ever saw any! Plus if they existed why was the man in reception leaving it unmanned to go upto the rooms when we complained ??? Why not just radio security to go sort it !!! Have phones in the rooms that work!! Have enough staff to control the pool area through the day!! When the hotel is full bring in extra staff for the bar and restaurant to deal with amount of guests they are supposed to be caring for! Extend the time the restaurant is open at busy periods! But no this hotel runs on minimum staff and only cares about getting our hard earned money. This hotel is out of control and doesn’t care about its guests!!

I really wanted to try and highlight the things this hotel did well towards the beginning of my stay but that's become harder and harder. On checking in we found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the main reception area was bright and clean, a pleasant surprise as some of the reviews on here really paint a grim picture (this is one of them, you'll see why) going into our room we found it to be small and basic, but we knew what we were getting with 3 star accommodation so didn't really complain about it. The first issues came in the shape of the electrics, the room has the standard wee slot that you put the room key card into to activate the lights, plugs etc, only with this hotel, sometimes they stayed on sometimes they wouldn't, sometimes it felt like we were having rolling blackouts, we thought maybe it was an issue with the entire building but it wasn't, it was just our room, we eventually worked out a way to trick the box into thinking the key was in, thus keeping the electric on constantly, problem solved. The second issue came with the bathroom, there was a persistent smell of urine coming from the toilet, we reported this several times but no action was ever taken, we eventually settled for buying some air freshener from the local Spar to mask the smell. The next issue came with the other hotel patrons, from day one there have been groups of 30+ children ranging from the ages of about 10 to 18/19 from various countries across Europe absolutely running riot within the hotel. I tried to be fair and give them the benefit of the doubt at first, "they're kids on holiday" I thought. But they are some of the most disrespectful individuals I have ever had the misfortune of sharing a hotel with, from the hours of about 9pm to 6am the noise is constant, banging doors, walls, the floors, fighting out by the pool, fighting in the halls. We had people trying to enter our room several times a night, we didn't have a full night's sleep for the duration of our stay. Had we booked a club 18-30's hotel we'd have no comebacks, but this hotel is aimed at families, quite simply not on. Another smaller issue we experienced were dishes frequently coming back dirty but the straw that broke the camel's back came on our second to last day. We went for dinner at around 7pm and after fighting our way through the hordes of teenagers we arrived at the bowls of Bolognese sauce, I went to scoop some on to my plate when I noticed a LIVE MAGGOT crawling across the sauce, unfortunately I didn't have my phone on me so i have no photographic evidence, but I reported this matter directly to the hotel, the woman at the desk was very aggressive and offered no apology instead making us out to be liars, the matter has now been passed over to Jet2 Holidays who say they are investigating. Just the thought of having eaten in this restaurant every day for the past week is still making me feel unwell. I must say, Calella is a great resort, the beaches are beautiful, there's a lot of nice bars and restaurants, a lovely park and it's well connected to Barcelona. But for your own sanity and safety, DO NOT touch this hotel with a 10ft pole.
