Currently staying here. It is unfortunate that I have to write this, I have visited Calella before and loved it. I stayed at the Mar Blau just opposite last time, and wish I had on this occasion too. On arrival, we found the size of the room severely inadequate for 4 guests. There is half a meter of walking space in width from the balcony to the front door. We didn’t let this put us off, neither did we let the weak aircon spoil things (even though we told the desk & they promised to sort it 3 times). We went down for dinner, and found ourselves in the midst of chaos. The restaurant is far too small, and we found ourselves eating dinner in reception on the first night. Guests & Staff are rude towards English tourists, I was pushed out of the way in the restaurant. On our first night; the que and quality of food was so bad (I was served raw chicken… see photo) that we had to eat at Burger King. I almost booked an emergency Ryanair flight home but convinced myself to stay for my family. The breakfast is edible however flies fill the eatery area and swarm on the drinks machines. This is very unhygienic. Plates are also covered in food and haven’t been washed properly. At night, Spanish tourists will move around the pool furniture and hide chairs to put other tourists at disadvantage. Spanish tourists also sneak in their family’s to the resort/order snacks using the “all inclusive system” for family members that are only half board. My mother and I were pushed out of the way whilst waiting for a lift, so that another family could use it. Each morning, other guests will gather in the foyer and surround the doors so that when they are opened they can swarm and cover sun beds with their towels… they then disappear for half of the day leaving most of the furniture empty but unusable. The room keys are extremely sensitive and stop working if you put them next to other cards or even a smart watch. The plugs in our room were inoperable unless the lamps were switched on (this caused us rediculous issues at night with charging as you can imagine). At night entertainment is extremely poor, children are running around the foyer with no parents to be seen. Lastnight one child ran straight into my table knocking all of the drinks over. He didn’t even stop after this had happened. We complained about all of the above and were told they could do nothing. This hotel is not friendly to English guests… my recommendation would be the mar blau as it is amazing. Avoid this place, it is only friendly to Spanish guests and I would give it 1 star at best.

Currently here in August. The breakfast situation is awful. Long queues for coffee, toast, juice with only a time slot from 8am to 9.30am. The hotel is very outdated. I feel like it’s overpriced for what it is. This is a 1 star hotel. This is also a Spanish hotel primarily booked up with Spanish families.

Currently being used to home Ukrainian refugees, which I have absolutely no issue with but, feel like they shouldn’t be accepting holiday makers at the same time! I felt awful trying to enjoy myself whilst these poor people are going through a humanitarian crisis!! Dogs barking all through the night, lots of noise from other guests/staff..cleaners. Rooms cleaned once during our stay. Food was terrible!!! Minimal choice, hot food always cold, we had to spend more money eating out at local restaurants. The hotel itself is in desperate need of a major refurbishment. Would I recommend a stay here? Definitely not!!!

Me and my sister came here in Sept2021 for a short break. It was a very cheap hotel so we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised! -Staff are really friendly -Cleaners clean the rooms daily with fresh towels given too -The breakfast was a buffet and there was so much variety, from croissants and pastries, fruit juices, tea&coffee, cereals, toast, to hot sausages, bacon, beans, freshly made eggs, was perfect for us and we saved a fortune having it here instead of going out and buying breakfast everyday! -The pool area is nice and big, there's a separate kids/baby section aswell, lots of sunbeds and tables&chairs so plenty of space to sit around the pool/bar inside& outside -We asked for a kettle for the room which they brought on a tray with a complimentary bottle of water too which was a lovely touch. -There's a lockable safe / safety deposit box in the room, it's €10 deposit then €4perday and you get the deposit back @ the end. Air-con is free, again just pay deposit and you get the remote, and they give it back at the end of the holiday, VERY POWERFUL which was perfect for us! -Also a variety of activities to do, there was live entertainment on Saturday evening, and pool tables in the hotel lobby, books to read (in various languages too) Overall, a fantastic hotel with friendly staff, well kept rooms, very good price especially for what you get too and the kettle was a lifesaver for us! Highly recommend!! -

Great stay, great staff! We stayed 7 nights in this hotel. Pool: brilliant, clean and the water slides for the smaller kids are great, never a problem getting a bed near the pool Food: pretty good, variety of meats every lunch and dinner time, with the burgers, pizzas, hotdogs for people who aren't very adventurous Some of the things on offer include pork, paella, chicken wings, fresh fried fish, beef with various sauces. Cannot complain, probably the only time I've been to a hotel and not felt hungry between the meal times. They've also setup a system where they split the food times into two so that you don't have everyone queueing at once, this works really well Staff: all super helpful, except the older life guard who on day 4 or 5, after having not said a word to anyone, started ordering a lot of children to put their inflatables away... Bit odd They also employ and army of cleaners, room is cleaned everyday and pool area is cleaned everyday. Room: clean, all beds in one room and a separate bathroom, air con and TV, nothing special - just good enough as a base Area around the hotel is pretty good, beach is close, the town centre is a very nice place to be with many restaurants and bars. Thank you for giving us such a good break after the nightmare everyone has had over the last 18+months We will probably be coming back here because the value for money is insanely good

We booked this hotel for an all inclusive break with our two children. We were disappointed from start to end, unfriendly staff, terrible queues for food, repetitive food, unclean room, rowdy stag do around the pool who were out of control around the children in the pool. Awful stay and would never return or recommend to anyone, Calella is nice and there are much nicer hotels than this one.

This hotel had no security to keep children and some parents in some sort of order, they were running riot and parents nowhere in sight. Took three days to move an extra bed in our room, blocking the wardrobe. On arrival 5 of us had sour milk thrown from a higher balcony and when we told the person on reception she just shrugged her shoulders before giving us a pack with a sandwich a bottle of water, apple and two small bisquits, the sandwich was vile tbh. No kettle or anything in the room. Oh also our wristband similar but worse than Blackpool pleasure Beach, you had to wear for full 7 days holiday. First time we have been with jet 2 and the last. We paid over 800 but the rowdies paid 175. Never again. We went out of school holidays for a chill after illness and it was like all hell had broke loose. We complained to jet 2 and the best they can do is pass feedback to hotel.

On arrival we checked in straight away and were given the a/I bands (material) and chips for drinks which we never used and 4 drinks were given to us frequently. All bar staff really nice as were the rest of the staff. Couldn’t fault food all really nice and always something been cooked on hot plate, always a fish, two meats, chips, pasta and nice salad. Only downside was only soup once in our weeks stay. Also nice to have a fresh fruits available and apples were also available on reception desk. Entertainment hit and miss but a good duo on one night and the magician was brilliant. Room was plenty big enough and cleaned daily with fresh towels every day. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and think it was good value for 3 star.
