We found this hotel really good and very clean. We went half board and found the food really good with plenty of choice. If you want a drink with evening meal you have to pay but like this most places. All staff are really friendly and helpful. Only down fall is no fridge in room other than this nothing negative about it. Just a word of advice you can not change money in hotel only at exchange shop near to church which staff can direct you to.

We have just returned from a week in Calella where we stayed at this hotel. We were one of the last of the transfer bus from the airport so got to see quite a few other hotels that people were being dropped off at - when we arrived at Hotel Internacional I was more than happy. It is in an excellent location - opposite the beach, a two minute walk to the underpass (from road, underneath railway, straight on to the beach). Although the trains go past about every 20 mins, they are not invasive and definitely not heard from the hotel (our balcony had a side on view to the railway and beach). The location of the hotel has the benefit of also only being a 5 minute stroll into the heart of Calella town and the shopping district/main restaurant area.

All of the staff we encountered at Hotel Internacional were very friendly and helpful. For a two star hotel the rooms were very comfortable. Although the bed was firm, it was not uncomfortable and I slept without any problems. As we went in September the lack of air conditioning was not a problem as we slept with the balcony door open and that was sufficient.

We had paid for bed and breakfast. Some of the other reviews I have read mention that it is not very good. For the price that we paid, and the fact that the hotel is two-star - there was enough variety (both hot and cold options). They could maybe provide a little more fruit variety (they serve oranges), but this was not a problem. I am sure that all of the other basic hotels in the area probably serve a similar style breakfast. We didnt have lunch or dinner at the hotel so am unable to comment on this. The bar was reasonably priced for the area and clean, with friendly staff. A bottle of wine was €9.

The only downside was the noise on some nights. There were several school groups staying in the hotel and they would go out until the early hours and made a lot of noise on their way back. This I do not believe is the fault necessarily of the hotel, as I think a majority of the hotels in Calella experience school groups staying. The neighbouring hotels also seemed to have a lot of teenagers making noise also.

Overall, for the price, Hotel Internacional was extremely good value for money - great price, great location, clean, comfortable. If I was to visit Calella again I would definitely stay here.

Some photos used is a bit misleading. It shows rooms that are very modern and updated. It could be that some room are, but it wasn’t the ones we saw. The actual room we stayed in had a lower standard and served mainly as a place to sleep. The nights are quite loud as the hotel plays loud music in the bar which can be heard late after midnight in the rooms.

Ok. If you’ll just sleep. Eat food elsewhere. Under the train tracks for beach

We ordered including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The items at breakfast were typical continental was okay. The lunch and dinner selection was very disappointing.
We sat down at a table for dinner and was not told until after we started drinking the water (already placed on the table in an unassuming refillable glass container) that we must pay £2 euro extra for it. The gentleman who seemed to be the canteen manager was seen not being polite and yelled at a couple for sitting down at a table meant for 4 persons. However, there are no signs around the room saying that a table is in anyway reserved or that it was not free seating. He was loud and his behavior is unacceptable to paying guests, especially when everyone sits at the same tables at breakfast whether they are 2 or 4 persons. The guests were very polite and attempted to try to understand what he was saying- but how could they when he was suddenly having a very loud voice in Spanish and there were European and not Spanish speaking. Disappointing behavior from staff. Front desk was very polite and helpful.

We had high hopes choosing this hotel -- looked nice on the webpage, great views and we decided to book a "superior" room (this meant the top floor with a private sun terrace).

The good -- the room was clean and the bathroom was huge. The bathroom even had a large, hydromassage tub. Sitting outside in the bar area was lovely and drinks were reasonable. The hotel was quiet and right across from the beach. It was also just a few blocks to the old town area with tons of restaurants and shopping. A nice complementary bottle of champagne awaited us and it was handy to have a small refrigerator in the room.

The not-so-good -- The private sun terrace was not worth the extra cost. The terrace had little shade (the roll out awning did not help) and was blistering hot all the time. It would be better off to reserve a room on the 6th or 7th floor with a balcony facing the lighthouse. No wifi in room. Worst though was the smell from the restaurant exhaust fan. The bathroom window faced the exhaust area and the smells that came into the room were nauseating at times.

Bottom line -- would not stay again. Not sure that any of the hotels are that much better. Seems like a 70's time warp in most of the beachfront hotel area. Breakfast had some decent choices (fruit, yogurt, breads, sausages, hard boiled eggs, cheese, etc... but nothing of great quality). Might serve its purpose, but I would search a little more for a hotel.

The hotel is very convenient if you consider how close you are to the beach. The room was spacey enough and very clean. We got a room without AC to save some money, it can get rather hot during the day (room is exposed to the sun for most of the day), so keep that in mind. During the night I had no problems with the room being too hot.
Staff is friendly, buffet breakfast has plenty of different kinds of food to choose from.
The view from the balcony is great, both day and night. In conclusion I will surely be back for my next stay in Calella.

The property is for people on budget, wanna be by the sea and close to some night-life. My wife and me were at the hotel for 4 night with breakfast and dinner included. The room was very basic with clean linen and fresh towels provided everyday after room service. The hotel is located just a few hundred meters from the center of the city and about 2 km from Calella train station. One can always get a train from Barcelona or else one take the bus from Gerona airport to the stop 200 meter away from to hotel. Because we were there mainly to relax at the beach, we enjoyed the location very much. Getting to some of the bars, pubs and clubs was also easy. The food at the hotel was average, same breakfast was served everyday, but my wife me loved the amount of fruits we could eat. Dinner was also average with better options. My wife loved it as there was almost everyday a new variety of fish being served. For Totally two fifty bucks 4 nights, breakfast and dinner included was an awesome deal.. thus a nice late summer vacation bang for the buck By-Da-Cs.. Oh yes they did had pool too..

An overdue review of a brilliant holiday. The hotel was amazing and only two stars!

We (my mum and I) booked 10 nights through OnTheBeach. Full board, transfers included, 20kg luggage, early flight from Luton for about £800 - it was a bargain.

I was very happy with the hotel from the beginning. Air condition was free. A deposit of 10 euros was required for the TV remote control which was refundable on check out but keep the receipt! Room was spacious with a balcony, cleaned every day. The walls are fairly thin but aren't they everywhere else?

Food was great. A lot of choice: salads, soup, chips, meat, fish, pasta, etc...desserts were a bit repetitive but I am not one for sweets. Ice cream was enough for me. I loved their themed nights (Spanish, Italian). Breakfast was repetitive but I normally eat the same breakfast every day anyway.

Not much for entertainment but we might have a too late in the season (or too early for the beer fest).

Overall, we have really enjoyed our stay and will return. The room was comfy, the lifts not too busy, we always found something to eat, a short walk from the beach, free wifi in the reception. The only thing that confused me was eating times but after the first day, we got a hang of it.

For adults, I definitely recommend the hotel. For families, not sure.

Well,so much to say about this hotel.Usually i dont write very bad reviews but this time i have to.
The location is very good. The hotel has a small pool. The people who work in this hotel arent very welcoming actually little rude.I didnt feel very welcome.
The food is average and boring. The bar was good and cheap, i liked it.
My room was sad and old,the floor was craked from many places and it smelled real bad and the room had only one place for recharg my phone,in the toilet?
Tv was good, but you had to take remote from reception and give 10€ deposit, hotel dont trust its customers? The bed was firm,so not soft at all.
And at the end the check out time was at 10 am very early, normally is 12 or so.
You have to pay for wifi...
Im sorry to say these things, but i had to.

We were allocated room 608 with an excellent view of the beach / sea / lighthouse. The room was light and airy with shade in the morning and sun in the afternoon/evening till dusk, airconditioning was available although not used. Three single beds were easily accommodated, a small but well fitted out bathroom sported an excellent shower and also a hairdryer, more towels than we needed were also supplied, above average standard of shower and bath gels supplied. The reception welcome was friendly and efficient and even though we arrived several hours before the official checkin time the room was prepared for us in record time. In the restaurant the Head Waitor remembered my family from our previous visit a year ago, which table we prefered and the type of drinks to accompany our meal, impressive. The pool area has undergone significant upgrades and all pool beds had new covers and there was extra seating available, the pool itself has been upgraded and was excellent. It was clear a lot of painting had been done out of season and all public areas looked clean and fresh. The staff in this hotel go the 'extra mile' for their clients, a great atmosphere is created because of this with happy guests and no sign of 'grumpy' ones!! Well done to the Internacional for improving on our experience in 2014.

Kim R asked a question Jul 2017
is there a fridge in the rooms
Answer from Jen1452
We didn't have a fridge in the room. As it's a hotel and not self catering I doubt fridges would be available.
Answer from SandyDepp
Dear Wendy B, Yes!! It is a family friendly hotel. They have nice pool for kids which one can use during the day. And I think on some evenings they also have children events, like birds and magic shows. Have a nice hoilday..
