We stayed for two nights as part of a coach tour. The hotel was first class. The rooms have been recently refurbished and had an amazing walk in shower. The beds were comfy and everything was very clean. The food was good with lots of choice . The hotel has a lovely pool and outdoor bar area and is only a few steps from the beach. There is also a rooftop pool and bar which unfortunately we didn’t get to visit.
We were here for five days and they treated us like royalty. I like to see if there are some improvements a place like this can make and im having trouble finding any and that's a great sign. They are very helpful in where we could find some great food and activities since we took this holiday quite last minute. We went to the bar by the pool at night and the bartender was very friendly and made us great drinks. The breakfast was the best with great food, fresh fruits and champagne. Hotel employees were super friendly and accommodating, they gave us everything we could have wanted. However, I do have one little problem, and that was that I did miss having at least one English TV Channel. My problem with this hotel is so inconsequential that all I have to say is that I will highly recommend this hotel to everyone who is planning to travel to Calella if they keep their standards this high. Fantastic hotel to stay and would love to be back here again.…
Excellent hotel, one of the best I've stayed at for a long time, the food was great, the staff were excellent and very helpful, the rooms were great and the beds very comfortable. The bar was nice and quite mainly because there were no people allowed in the hotel under the age of 18 its adults only
This is our second visit to this hotel, both times for the Ironman event. We love this hotel, rooms are great with lots of modern extras like the handy USB ports and electric black out blinds. Great pool & pool bar and the food was excellent in the restaurant. The location was great for us too. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help. I would definitely go back to this hotel again.
Don’t even know where to start! Hotel staff - amazing! They were all so friendly and helpful to us, all of the with a great sense of humor. The restaurant manager is the sweetest! Food - really good. Breakfast has so many different options and everything we tried was really delicious. Room - we took a biggest room in a renewed part of the hotel, and it was just beautiful. Bed is really comfy, room very spacious, we had a sea view which was magical (hotel is very close by the beach). Cleaning- room and other parts of the hotel were always clean, maids were always leaving some bottles of water for us. Pool - the one on the top has a great view, only the water was a bit too chilly. We had a great experience in this hotel, comparing with the other expensive places we’ve stayed before, this one is so much worth the money and I promise you will love it…
It was my first time in Spain, and honestly I was really lucky to stay at Kaktus Playa! I got maximum best experience of the country, people, service and FOOOOD! The hotel just had a renovation, very stylish and light room, everything new and clean! BUT the FOOD is smth unbelievable! This is my 30-st country and I have never ate so good at the hotel! Thank to the whole friendly stuff that I left with truly best emotions and experience! I will recommend!!!
The hotel is very close to the beach which was what we were hoping for since it was a family trip. However, the hotel turned out to be much better than we had initially thought! The rooms were very beautifully designed and comfortable. The staff was probably the most friendly I have ever encountered, and most importantly the food during our half-board stay was absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a week away in Costa Brava, then trust me this is absolutely the place for you to go!
We booked the hotel for it amenities but soon learnt that the sunbeds advertised in the beach were €15 euros extra a day, rooftop / terrace pool access was an extra €20 euros a day to hire a Kettle for the room was an extra €10 euros a day. Sauna, steam room and gym advertised were closed. Half board does not include free water with meal. We have been misinformed about by these add ons with false advertising. We were also misled at reception to go for a room upgrade in order access some amenities which we learnt after we could not access (roof terrace). We will not be back.
The Kaktus Playa is a wonderful hotel! We stayed in July 2021, and had a fantastic experience! Covid protocols are enforced, cleanliness was top-notch, and the facilities were first class. The staff was amazing and very friendly. The chef made me an excellent omelet every morning, and I don't know how the bartender was simultaneously on the roof bar and the one by the lower pool deck, but he was, and he was great! I asked three different people in town, including the front desk clerk at this hotel, how many American tourists they see in Calella. All of them said we were the first they had ever encountered! I'm challenging American tourists who want a little local flavor to come here to Calella and try this hotel and very friendly city! Great beaches, a fun water park floating just offshore, bikepaths, restaurants, even cheap (6 Euro) all day parking on city streets. Mind you, this is not Disneyland, this is the real Spain. There are a couple of hotels boarded up, probably because tourism is down during covid. And this town has some history, so not every building has a fresh coat of paint. But everyone is friendly and accommodating, and I guarantee you will enjoy yourself here if you are not a miserable person looking for reasons to hate everything. Now, back to the hotel. It's a few minutes walk or a short taxi ride from the train station. There is plenty of on street parking surrounding it, but they also have a garage you can use for 15 Euros if you want. The staff speaks probably five or six different languages. The room we got was amazing! 709, top floor corner, with a jacuzzi and two outdoor showers on the terrace! King size bed in the room, with a sofa and another shower inside if you don't like showering in nature. Room was spotless and modern, great tv with lots of channels, though only a couple in English, a small refrigerator to keep drinks cold. In short, everything you need, and even some things you don't but appreciate anyway. Breakfast is buffet style, with made to order omelets if you wish. Everyone must wear a mask when at the buffet, but you remove your mask at your table. I thought the food was delicious, with a huge variety of hot and cold items. We didn't do the evening meal, but a lot of people did, and they seemed to be enjoying it. The front desk gave us a couple of recommendations for bike rentals and the like, and they were great to deal with. I don't know what else to say except we will be back, and I hope many Americans join us in finding this wonderful town and hotel!…
Really nice hotel very close to the beach. Rooms were very modern, clean and well presented. Hotel and staff were great and had fully embraced the ironman weekend with signs and information about the weekend all through the hotel. Free shuttlebus the morning of the race to the start line although I chose to walk as did a lot of people, it wasn't that far. Breakfast started at 4am the day of the race and the full selection (extensive!) was available. Really good. Would definitely stay here again for the race. Ideally located for registration and the race finish. Didn't use the pool area but looked pretty nice. Food - breakfast choices were plentiful and very nice. Only ate in the hotel one night but the food was excellent and the staff really helpful and engaging in terms of making recommendations.…
