I stayed here previously in 2016 in the annex but this time I was in the main hotel , sea view room but on the back of the building so no sun on the balcony. Food was good and plenty of choice though 7 days all inclusive gets repetitive. I booked the Mandarin restaurant for one night dining expecting oriental spread because of the name , however found the food to be sane as main buffet restaurant, self service just a quieter dining experience. Drinks available via self service , wine / beer / water and soft drinks Pool bar snacks available during the day if you don’t want to go into the main restaurant for buffet dining Bar service was excellent in both bars , hard to get seating in main bar for the entertainment so didn’t see any as preferred the small bar off the card room . Lifts … functional but slow and a bit clunky Room 356 was furnished in very dark wood , carpeted and had twin beds , both beds were creaky. Walls of hotel seem so thin lots of noise in the mornings so don’t expect a lie in . Bathroom was clean and had a shower over bath , always hot water and no issues. Staff work hard and are very observant with cleaning and clearing all used plates and glasses Animation team have lots of activities if you want to participate, aqua aerobics seemed very popular Location is great just on the beach accessed via a gate from hotel gardens Pool is cold but when you are in it you soon get used to the temperature Would I revisit , yes Is it luxurious no but you get what you pay for

I booked this hotel via Hotels.com having flown with Ryanair. Got a bus from Airport to Port Rosario, the island's main town and then a bus on to Corralejo which stops at the end of the hotel's drive. You won't miss your stop as the Hotel stands out like a huge ocean liner which has berthed on the beach. The only other building near is the pricier Riu Hotel opposite and a small supermarket which is handy for water, toiletries, sun lotion etc. Corralejo is an hour's walk along the road or beach or two stops on the bus. Not much to Corralejo to be honest, the usual tourist shops and bars. I preferred to stay in the amazing dunes all day and coming back to the hotel for a late lunch. Took the bus to El Cotillo one day which was worth it for the scenery and went by ferry to Lanzarote for a few days. I loved the hotel building and spacious public areas including terraces open to the sea air. Nicely landscaped gardens and palm trees although it's a shame that people bag their sun beds at dawn. The eating experience is canteen like and not very leisurely which suited me fine as a solo guest. Just find a quiet table by sitting further away from the buffet or arriving in the final half hour before they close. The range and quality of the food was fine for what I paid and I enjoyed every meal if I'm honest. Wine is bland and cheap but you can pour yourself an Amstel beer. Bar drinks-avoid the cocktails and go for the prosecco or sherry and a brandy after your meal is my suggestion. The bar next to the card room has excellent waiter service and less frenetic than the main lounge which has the entertainment. My different rooms on different stays were spacious and had good balconies. The single rooms only have showers but I was upgraded to a double on the first part of my stay. The rooms facing the Tres Islas Hotel don't get sun in the day. Takes 2 mins to walk from hotel to the sea in the morning for a dawn swim which many people do in the nude. Staff worked incredibly hard cleaning and turning tables round in dining room. Foyer was spotless. Lots of pros therefore and will definitely visit again. The only cons for me were: 1. No wifi in bedrooms 2. No radio channels on tv for music. Sky News gets a bit depressing after a while! 3. No coffee machines available until mid morning. Would be nice to have one on each floor for an early morning cuppa or even a kettle in room. 4. The rush for sunbed booking each morning is ludicrous and means you won't get a bed easily if at all. Head for beach instead, the exercise is good.

As a well travelled couple with high standards we were concerned to read some of the reviews...we absolutely needn’t have worried! Please, please do not believe these reviews! Undoubtedly some individuals may have had a bad experience for some reason but this is certainly not the ‘norm’. Hotel, rooms, pool, grounds and all communal area and toilets are SPOTLESSLY CLEAN...all the time! Food is super and there is a huge amount of choice. Drinks are fab and widely available across a number of well staffed bars. ALL staff were super helpful and courteous and finally, the position of the hotel is WONDERFUL! We have certainly paid a lot more for this standard of hotel and we would not hesitate to recommend it. We will definitely return 👌

Read some really bad reviews about this Riu, but honestly for what you pay it is great. Good food and drink, all the staff very friendly and the security guards were fine so not sure what the thing were about them being aggresive. Yes its very old but spotlessly clean, can't fault the place. In a beautiful setting on the beach.
