Located in Cala Romántica, surrounded by nature at the east coast of Mallorca. FlipFlop Cala Romántica offers the feeling of freedom of an outdoor vacation in camping style but with the services and facilities of a hotel. Is a hippie-colorful experience designed to disconnect, enjoy and exercise at the beach with family, friends or as a couple, Reading a book under a tree with the song of the birds, playing voleyball at the beach, participating in a gymkhana around the resort or dancing 60's rythms in the evenning, are some of the memories to take back home. Come and enjoy our experience.

FlipFlop Cala Romántica garners praise for its helpful staff and scenic beachfront location, nestled within beautifully maintained gardens. While guests appreciate the value and daily cleaning, some express concerns over additional charges and inconsistent housekeeping. Despite the tranquil private setting, a few travelers find the location somewhat isolated with limited nearby activities. The rooms and amenities, often described as outdated with no air conditioning or fridges and limited WiFi, leave room for improvement. The natural atmosphere is a hit for some, yet others feel entertainment and modern comforts are lacking.

First of all, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU!!!! to the amazing hard working staff at Flip Flop Cala Romantica. Firstly, we started this lovely experience with a bit of minor problem at check-in, but it was sorted promptly by the the reception staff.

We traveled as a family of 5 and had 2 family rooms with plenty of balcony space for the kids.

There has been alot of bad reviews about this place which is unfair because it not a bad resort at all.

We spent 6 days All Inclusive at this resort and we will be back again because we had the most fabulous relaxing holiday. It is also a great place for families with young children.

So here goes with my honest score on my experience:

Customer service/Staff 9/10
Food 9/10 Great food lots of selection, food cooked fresh every day ,breakfast lots eat salads etc .Snacks at the pool is plentiful even if you miss
breakfast which ends at 10:am you could pick up s omething at the pool cafe and bar to keep you going until lunch which starts at 12 with lots of selections and once lunch is done the chefs cook up burgers and hot dog and other snacks to keep you going until dinner trust me you never go hungry!!

Location 8/10 :Only reason is because i am being fair to all if you love a nightlife maybe not for you but if you want to enjoy a nice quiet holiday with family or as couple this place is perfect.

Rooms:7/10 Need a bit of cosmetic work but they're ok we were comfortable.
Fresh towels and sheets everyday if you leave your cleaning tag on you door and if you don't want cleaners in just leave you dirty towels outside on baclony and it is collected and replaced with clean ones once you get back from the pool.

Bar 9/10: A selection of local drinks available with all inclusive and you have the option to buy brand name drinks if choose too or if you want a cocktail. If you like Amstel, its on tap at the pool bar and in restaurant dinning area.

Entertainment 8/10. Better than most I have experienced on holiday. We looked forward to the aqua aerobics every day by the pool. And aso the evening Entertainnment Loved it!!!

I also wanted add that the beach is lovely lots of sun loungers with lockers

Pool area 9/10 enough sun loungers and there isn't any" sun loungers wars" lol!!!

The shuttle service also get a 10/10 for me takes you to and from your rooms if you're on the hill.

What can be improved?Wifi in rooms needed and also air con/ frigde

Once again thank you Flip Flop Cala Romantica for a fantastic stay we will be back again.

The location sold us the holiday, a hotel on the beach in a small cove, it just seemed a perfect getaway.

The transfer is fine, an hour or so if you're lucky and get away quickly.
Check in isn't available til 2pm, we requested a double room, and a few weeks and days before I emailed the hotel to ask about the walking difficulties issues pointed out by easyjet.
I was assured I would be allocated a room near the facilities, yet prior to check in I was told it was only if they were available when I came back to check in, so the check in staff couldn't see what room I'd been allocated on their screen.

The hotel has an entertainment programme that consists of a loudspeaker strapped to a trolley that is music and their voices are blasted out by the pool at certain times of the day, whether you like it or not there is no escaping the loud music or the loud voices around the pool.
The only way is to put your own earbuds in the drown out the din.

The entertainment spills over in the evening with some pretty random awful music being blasted out through the pa in the show bar, before the mini discoooooooò at 8.30pm

The main show starts at 9.30pm some of which is dreadful at best, on each Saturday night of our 10 night stay there were 2 djs with no dj skills to get the crowd going, twiddling fake knobs that had no effect.
It was laughable.

People moan about the rooms and the beds, our beds were twins with memory foam mattresses, really comfy, one pillow each, a bedspread and 2 blankets.
We both slept well each night, the local barking dog didn't bother us, but there was a strange sounding animal in the trees that sounded like a car alarm sounding every 2 seconds.
We heard as we fell asleep or got up for bathroom visits.

Our room maid, was very disappointing, we were left a single hand towel, and I asked her for more towels, but was handed just 1 more hand towel, so we used our beach towels instead.

When we did get towels, dirty ones were taken but not replaced, toilet roll wasn't replaced, and a shower matt was left twice in 10 days taken away 8 days out of 10.

The hotel is 3 star I get that, it's not going to luxury, but it's just basic stuff that let's the place down, like good housekeeping, manners at check in, politeness and farewells when you leave, good old customer service.

A pool to relax around, 1 for activities, 1 for quiet.
Music in the restaurants at low background levels not in your face loudness.

A varied activities programme away from the pool area, on the beach or on the sports courts, table tennis, pool tables, in the show bar, just away from the pool so people can relax.

A few free sunloungers on the beach near the hotel, a kettle and fridge in each room for cold water.

The grounds are immaculate, with a nice water feature and trees, but as for the pool area, it's just not a place or a hotel to unwind and relax in, great location, nice plentiful food and drink, there are just trade offs.

On arrival early hours of the morning check in was quick and easy, we were offered something to eat and drink, and taken to our room. This is not a normal style hotel they are little bungalow style rooms built on the hill side, amongst the trees, yes it is very hilly and we were 513 at the top, ok going down but a killer going up, yet if you go to reception there is a car that will take you to your room 24 hrs a day. Rooms are clean but basic and dated no fridge kettle or WiFi, which in this day and age is nearly a must for most people, you can only get WiFi in the main areas. Tv doesn’t cater for uk people as only news channels, bed low and a little bit hard but a good peaceful nights sleep woken up by bird song daily.
There was always something to eat nearly all day, beer wine and soft drink you help yourself too, spirits at the bar, just a payment for cocktails.
Beach is at the back door and lovely sandy clean beach, there is a boat stop which picks you up and takes you alone the coast if you want to go exploring, bus stop is just outside the front gate.
Entertainment is on during the day and at night, this can be a bit hit and miss
Would return for a relaxing holiday..

Arrived today for a couples holiday for my ‘big birthday’ hotel is absolutely beautiful and I genuinely don’t understand the negative reviews- met at reception by a lovely, warm gentleman and taken too our room by car. Food is absolutely beautiful- if you don’t like the food here it’s definitely a ‘you’ problem - ! Beach is stunning and breathtaking.beachside Rooms are basic but have everything you need and bungalow style - immaculately clean and maids work hard to maintain. All the staff we have met so far are super lovely and drinks on all inclusive are fab ! So happy to be here and looking forward to waking up here tomorrow! We are in room 41 which is beachside which is very convenient for pool and beach!

Right, I’ll try to be fair and objective bearing in mind this was a cheap deal. If you have ANY mobility issues or have a buggy this is not for you. There are steps/ stairs all over the site and steep gradients. No lighting on the stairs at night.the restaurant is up two flights of stairs and no lift. If you get allocated rooms in the 600’s you’ll have at least a10 minute walk to the pool or reception or restaurant..I had to promise the soul of my first born to get moved to a room in the 100’s. Room not big enough to swing a premature kitten never mind a cat ! I’d say 90% of the guests are German, not a problem but it’s quite isolating not to hear a British accent for a week.there is no kettle in the room and they charge extortionate amounts for a safe. There is a small shop (?) on site but sells mostly wine, flip flops, crisps and biscuits. The reception said they did have a kettle but again they charged big bucks for it ( we took our own ) there was no linen / towel changes all week.all beverages in the pool bar and restaurant were served in plastic beakers ! Couldn’t get a G and T or cup of tea in a glass or a proper cup anywhere. The TV has only one English Channel the BBC News and the rooms did not have WiFi, this was only available by the pool or the restaurant. We took the bus into Porto Cristo ( about every 90 mins and took 10 mins to get there to the Spar shop to buy milk for tea and other bits) No fridge in the room.. if you don’t like flying things don’t stay here, I think because of the trees around the room was constantly full of small moths.the food was canteen at best and if you were late to breakfast there was virtually nothing left. As I said, it was a cheap deal and it showed.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever visited. The main hotel is situated on a beautiful beach in a quiet village, the accommodation is spread out within a luscious valley set back from the beach. I can see negative reviews which mention that some of the rooms are quite a way from the main facilities but what they fail to say that there is a 24 hour free taxi service that can be ordered by WhatsApp to take you to and from your room and the main facilities. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating. Our rooms were not available for late check out as we had interconnecting ones which were booked out and so the lovely receptionist let us use a room next to the pool to shower and change before we left, meaning we could stay and use the facilities until late on our last day. The entertainment team were amazing and full of energy. The food was good and varied, and you could get something to eat at almost anytime. Rooms were comfortable and clean and cleaned daily if you wanted. There is no air conditioning which made things a little uncomfortable as we were there during a heatwave, but we brought a fan which made things more comfortable. The very best part for us was the wildlife. We saw wild tortoises outside our room, lots of geckos and bats at night and the sound of cicadas and frogs was lovely. We will definitely come back, although perhaps not in the middle of a heatwave!

We got one of the air conditioned rooms for 7 days, at the top of the hill on an 'All Inclusive' basis. Lots of reviewers saying there is no air conditioning in the rooms, this is incorrect but you do have to book a room with an air conditioning unit and pay extra like we did. As other reviewers have alluded to, the rooms could do with modernising but the shower is pretty powerful, there's a TV, the kids have their own space on the other side of the wardrobe. It does the job because you spend most of your time out anyway. I do recommend the air conditioned room, I felt like we really benefitted from being able to cool down.

It is a very beautiful place where all the chalets are, sprawled out on a bank with an oasis of palm trees and bushes and flowers. A WhatsApp message to the reception is all it takes and you get a vehicle outside your room to take you to and fro at your discretion, but we enjoyed the walk up and down the hill so did not use it until the last day when taking our luggage down to check-out.

The beach is right there on the front of the hotel and we enjoyed sitting out on the veranda waiting for the dark and for the lights to turn on, each night after dinner.

There was quite a substantial variety of food available, and changes slightly from day to day. Coffee, fruit juice, water, and lager on tap pretty much whenever. The meals are split between the swimming pool area and the restaurant.

The nearby town is the very pretty Porto Cristo with lots of seats out along the front with a variety of restaurants/ice cream shops etc and it's very easy to grab an air-conditioned, modern bus right outside the hotel to go there. I strongly recommend doing so! Recommend ordering the bus tickets online on the tib.org website for a large discount and you get an email with PDFs attached with the QR code codes attached. Then you just scan the QR code for each person as you get on the bus and that's it. It's less than 1.80 euros per person this way (decreases with each person on the order). Or you can tap your bank card as you get on and off the bus.

If I was pushed for a downside, I'd say it was too many wasps or hornets in the outside eating space (swimming pool area), and you spend an excessive amount of time waving them away while eating. But to be fair this is a common problem in picnic areas in general. The issue isn't present in the indoor eating areas and even outside, they all disappear once the food does.

You can enhance your visit go on a glass bottomed boat from the hotel's (very) nearby beach which tours along the coast, we did a short one because the kids may get bored.

I hope this review can help put you at ease if you’re already booked and are reading all the bad reviews!

Me, my wife and 2 kids ages 10 & 7 have just arrived home after a 10 day stay at this complex, and I must say, after reading all the reviews I was VERY VERY apprehensive about how this holiday would turn out and all I can say is one word. FANTASTIC!

I will start with the good points of the hotel, as there are a lot more good than bad!

Firstly, upon arrival we were met by some very friendly staff at reception who explained in full the times of pools & food etc.

We where then taken to our room via the on-site mini bus (which I will explain a little further on) which is a great service they offer.

During our stay, we didn’t see a single member of staff without a smile on their face and working hard, from entertainers to chefs to life guards, and everyone in between.

The entertainment team are brilliant, always doing what they are paid to do, and entertain! They are brilliant with kids and adults all the same and are up for a laugh and a good time. Even the life guards are fantastic, although they are there to keep everyone safe in the water, they are also up for a good time and a laugh, especially Christian who has a lot of fun with the kids in and around the pool and is an all round fantastic guy!

The food is your typical all inclusive food, there’s plenty of it and you certainly won’t go hungry! Also there is plenty to drink so you can get your moneys worth.

The hotel has access to a brilliant little beach, although the beach isn’t private to the hotel you can still use it but do have to pay for sun beds if you’re wanting to use one.

Now for the bad points, the main one being for me, the rooms. They’re very dated and due to there being no air con, they are extremely hot. Also, there is no fridge in the room so you’re unable to keep a cool drink in them. Our room, if I’m being totally honest, wasn’t the cleanest neither but it wasn’t too bad!

As for the rooms, as I mentioned early about the mini bus service, this complex (depending on your room) could have you walking up quite a hill and a number of steps to get there, so this mini bus can get you as far up the hill as possible to save your legs. Also, if you have mobility problems, a wheel chair user, or have young kids in a push chair, this isn’t the place for you as it’s not accessible for the needs of those.

Would I return to the hotel? Yes, IF they spent some money on the rooms and updated them with air con and a fridge etc.

I understand and apologise this is a lengthy review, but I hope it can help to put your mind at ease if you’ve already booked and are expecting the worst as I was, and I can honestly say we’ve had a fantastic holiday at flip flop Cala Romantica!

I have to give 4 stars but I do have to stress improvements are required. First off all I found the resort including the beach amazing beautiful and peaceful. The staff with the exception of one which I will detail below were brilliant, friendly and very helpful and work very hard.

Positives
Lovely beach
Lovely tranquil site well maintained I did not mind distance of the rooms despite finding stairs difficult however there is a driver services accessed through WhatsApp to collect and take you round the resort.
Lovely staff who were helpful but often under constant pressure from many people staying there not saying that people should not complain I did myself but I imagine this constant complaining must affect motivation at work.

Food OK and for most probably wide ranging.

Entertainment seemed good and varied also entertainment team appear to work hard also.

Negatives

My first room was very smelly mixture of severe damp and chemicals I did one night in this room number 37 but I could not cope with this. I spoke to couple of the team but I have to say Maria was excellent as I explained to her I have a weak immune system and I feared this rooms dampness could potentially leave me very ill she spoke with her manager and moved me straight away my new room although dated did not smell and I was much happier.

Really need to install air con in the rooms as currently none.

The ceiling fans need reviewing as only one speed very slow.

Need to have fridges In the rooms as currently none.

The rooms such as number 37 should not be used until the damp problem and smell has been resolved.

Overall a refurb of the rooms would be great.

So the one member of staff that was not helpful was one at the reception called Lidia when I approached her about my unhappiness of room 37 she just smirked and said the hotel is full nothing can be done. Also another day we had asked another member of staff if they could call a taxi as we were going to the Drach caves she had said just come back 15 minutes before you want it and I will call. We returned 1115 as our tour at caves was due 12midsay I approached Lidia as she was at desk and she said no we only boom for palma or the airport I explained that I had spoken to her colleague who said it was not a problem she basically did not want to do it she said taxis are busy and that she is not calling them so we were upset and we asked for a taxi number which she did hive us but not before a negative comment beforehand. Luckily outside we met yo Spanish males workers who were visiting who very kindly called one for us.

So Lidia gets zero stars from Mr and she needs to have some training on customer services as she is letting your service down as all other staff were lovely.

Will I visit again yes if all negatives are worked on. This could be a little goldmine if time money and attention spent on it.

But we did have a lovely holiday despite one of my daughters being ill most of it but I do not feel this was related to the hotel.

We have just returned from a 9 night stay at the flip flop Cala Romantica with our 2 children aged 7 & 10.
We went with low expectations due to the bad reviews but we're pleasantly surprised.

The complex is in a lovely location with the beach a 5 minute walk away. I really liked the fact that the chalets felt spaced out so you don't feel on top of people. The food is amazing, lots of choice every day of fresh meat, fish, salad, rice, pasta etc. The kids loved the pool. The entertainment team worked really hard everyday. They did a kids club every morning then would do entertainment around the pool during the day. The kids loved the water carpet. The staff were also very friendly.

The rooms do need some upgrading. All rooms have a ceiling fan but no air con which made the rooms quite uncomfortable to be in. The kids had bunk beds but there was no fan in that area so recommended taking hand held fans for the children as they were really hot at night. The beds are also quite firm. Room service wasn't great. It took 3 days to get extra pillows and unless you ask reception for clean towels you won't get them.

The flip flop is a a quiet location. There are afew shops and cafés around a 15 minute walk away (uphill). There is also a little hop on hop off train that goes to Puerto Cristo, €5 each that I recommend.
We also visited the Caves of Draque which is a must see and for kids, Dinos & Caves.

With a few changes the Flip Flop could be amazing. If the rooms were upgraded I would definitely return. Lovely holiday.
