The Hotel Castell dels Hams in Porto Cristo is the ideal place to spend your holidays. Located in the countryside surrounded by lush vegetation, it has facilities designed for the delight of both children and adults: swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball nets, children's park. Our French-speaking entertainment equipment provides a huge variety of fun and sporting activities which guarantee enjoyment every day. Those who want to disconnect from the routine and relax can use our SPA, in which we offer a wide range of facial and body treatments, as well as a hydrotherapy circuit which increases vitality and eliminates toxins which cause anxiety and stress. In addition, it offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops, without forgetting the small coves which are found in the area and which can be accessed on foot or by boat, such as Cala Petita. You'll also be able to visit the small market which takes place on Sunday mornings in the emblematic Mermaid Avenue.

Castell des Hams is a hidden gem! We picked it based on being a French / Spanish speaking hotel and being quite spacious as slightly out of town, and are so happy we did - we had such a fantastic week. All the staff and entertainment team were wonderful, I’ve not been anywhere else where there was as much fun for the adults as well as children - I joined a couple of classes that I never normally do on holiday and had so much fun doing so. My 3 children all loved the kids club, my eldest speaks a little French and was so excited to be able to practice with the lovely kids club team. There were guests from loads of different nationalities and speaking so many different languages, and at the start of each activity the team would find out what everyone spoke so was completely inclusive. In the evening, everything was in all 3 main languages - French, Spanish and English, and again a great mix of entertainment that we all really enjoyed. The dancing was absolutely brilliant! If you don’t want to watch the entertainment, there is so much space to grab a table away from it all and have a quiet evening. All the guests were so friendly when we were there, it was such a lovely atmosphere and I can’t wait to go again! We had one of the 2 bed bungalows in the newer part of the hotel which was perfect for us, really spacious and with a little terrace at the front. The food was lovely, and we really enjoyed eating outside in the little courtyard each lunch and evening - it’s really pretty. We took the shuttle bus into Porto Cristo a couple of times and it’s a great service, we booked through the app on the day and it meant we could explore the local town really easily - it’s a really pretty town. Huge thanks to the whole team for making our week as food as it was - can’t wait to come back!

As an English couple we were a bit nervous after reading the reviews but had nothing to worry about. We had a lovely stay, and all staff (except one of the bar staff) were friendly and attentive. The food was good and varied each night, we'd like to especially thank the pizza chef who was lovely, and very good at his job. The only downside was the cocktails were watered down, but not too much of a problem when you can get as many as you want.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! You cannot fault this hotel! The animation team Luis,Max,Romain,Marie,Morgaine and Matias (apologies for spelling of names also the choreographer whose name we can’t remember, sorry)were absolutely amazing and kept us entertained all day and put on such fantastic shows in the evening. All the receptionists were very helpful especially when the World Cup Rugby was on and they let us watch the games on their big tv! Thank you so much for that. The food you could no fault as there was something for everyone and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of variety and all so good. We stayed in a Bungalow and it was lovely. The room was cleaned daily and also clean towels provided which was a bonus as the cleaners were kept so busy, thank you. Gabriella and bar staff were fantastic in keeping everyone happy with drinks and snacks ( which were brilliant!) A thankless job but again they worked so hard to do their job. The hotel was absolutely fantastic and the 4 swimming pools kept everyone happy. We would certainly come back here! We met a lot of lovely people both foreign and British, it was certainly a holiday to remember! Thank you so much and see you soon😁 Bob and June from Scotland xx

We are currently staying here and still have 5 days left, but I know Castell Dels Hams already deserves a 5 star review from us. The concierge are all very helpful and welcoming despite the language barrier. Adil (hope I got this right) spoke great English and did all on his power to make us feel like royalty since our arrival. It seemed like his goal was to ensure that our anniversary was going to be one to remember! Palia Hotels knew we were coming to celebrate our anniversary - we got upgraded to a big room in a quiet area overlooking the forest, sea and town. And as if that wasn’t enough, they surprised us with a bottle of bubbly for the night too! And it’s only our 2nd day here! There definitely is no scrambling for sun beds and the pool was a welcoming cool temperature from the heat! We witnessed a fun aqua gym session and entertainment today, and a hawk eyed lifeguard was hard at work keeping everyone safe from 11 am to 7 pm. There’s many areas you can move the sun bed to if you wish to tan up, but if you prefer the shade, there’s lots of tree canopies and bushes to shelter you too! The bar is open from 10 til midnight and this is located by the pool/entertainment area. It’s 50% alcohol in cocktails but if you wish to dilute it with soft drinks, there’s a machine for you to use at your convenience. They serve snacks and nibbles throughout the day so you’re never hungry in between meal times. See pic for timings :) The food has been amazing so far, considering we’ve only been here 2 nights! There’s a love cooking station that served griddled lamb chops, pork chops, calamari, fish, mussels, and who knows what else they will serve in the next 5 days we’re here! Lots of options for vegans too, although I’m not a vegan and go straight to the meat station. The cheese and bread are locally sourced and you could taste it’s authenticity! The drinks are self service and you can pour your own soft drinks, ping, and wines. Now I’m a big plant nerd, so I have to talk about the plants! There’s this big rubber plant at the restaurant was absolutely majestic! There’s olive and lemon trees bearing loads of fruit and fragrant lavender, thyme and rosemary bushes scattered throughout the courtyard. There were bougainvilleas and gumamelas to add colours to the court, and a beautiful ivy clinging on to ceiling of the restaurant outside! The ambiance is great so far, there’s a mix of ages but prominently, no loud or rude people! So it’s perfect for us non-party people who just want to chill. You won’t get bored though as there are daily activities and fun nights in store for all ages! I can’t wait for the market trip tomorrow in town using their free bus, and the archery and rifle shooting sessions! Overall, it’s been a memorable stay already! We feel like King and Queen of the Castell overlooking the land, the sea and the townspeople. Thank you Palia Hotels and to all staff of Castell Dels Hams!

Average hotel with great potential but needs some improvement Positive: Pool area!!! Well maintain rooms Cleanness in high standard Good room condition Pizza station Evening entertainment Free shatter to Porto Cristo Negative: Breakfast and pool snack bar - very little variety of the food The sports area needs attention as the facility is very used The main language used is French, which was not a massive issue for us (adults) but kids felt disappointed, as they struggled to find anyone to play with. So consider that if you going as families and your little one likes to socialise.

Do not listen to the bad reviews they had me so worried about this hotel however my family and I have just had a fab week here with our three daughters ages 8 to 16. We had a ground floor bungalow it was spacious and clean. My only concern was the beds being so hard. I could manage to sleep but when I awoke my body ached like I had slept on bricks so would recommend investing in some softer mattresses. I didn’t realise when booking that it was a French hotel however, the staff also spoke Spanish and English so wasn’t a problem at all. Just felt strange hearing french instead of Spanish. There were 3 pools and a kids club. Entertainment during day and night. The food stood this hotel out from all the other all inclusive that Iv been too. It wasnt ur usual cheap mass produced food it was good quality tasty food. I know French like good food and I guess that’s why they made such nice food. Even the pizza was stonebaked and made fresh in front of you. There were at least 4 different roast meats and fish each night. My husband is a very fussy eater yet loved the food here. It was like dining in a restaurant every night and first time that we didn’t eat out most of the time we looked forward to the meals. There is a long gap between lunch and dinner from 2.30 til 7.30 and would suggest starting dinner from 6pm. Although there is a snack bar at 4 it was things like biscuits and fruit. There is no bars and shops outside the hotel as it’s located on a dual carriageway and unfortunately the on-site shop only sells clothes and souvenirs and no food so would have been better if sold snacks to take to the room. There is a garage up the road but a bit dangerous to cross at times. However Porto cristo is only a 5 min taxi ride at 6euros or you can book the free bus the night before. We also went to a resort called Sa Coma which was only ten min taxi ride and 13 euros so easy to get to other places. We also visited caves of Drach which we enjoyed. There is another cave that is a 7min walk from hotel we didn’t visit that one and dinosaurland same distance. Plenty of loungers didnt have to get up early and save them was always loads and because it’s not a massive hotel it had a very relaxed feel to it. It wasn’t modern but was authentic and clean and relaxing. Beware of the spirit measures at the bar It was 90 per cent alcohol 10per mixer i had two rum and cokes and felt like I’d had ten. Overall had a lovely holiday here

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we wanted a quick short break away as a couple. Jet2 had the hotel available at a reasonable ( for August) all inclusive price. I looked at the photos and rating and decided to book. It was only afterwards that I realised that although it was new to Jet2 for summer 2023, it was French run. On the whole it was a very enjoyable stay, but I’ll run through what (in my opinion) are a few pros and cons. I just have 2 cons: because it’s a French hotel, the entertainment is aimed at French guests and I feel difficult for English to engage with. Secondly is that the hotel is situated on its own so you can’t take an evening stroll, you have to get a taxi into Porto Cristo which costs around 7€ each way. The pros: the rooms are very clean, there are 3 pools, no need to fight for sun beds and there’s no restriction on the all inclusive alcohol. Staff are friendly, reception speak English and we’re happy to book a taxi for us. Food is delicious with plenty of variety. In summary, we had an enjoyable few days, but if you’re looking for a lively hotel, close to the beach/centre then this hotel perhaps isn’t the one.

Dear Ann, We would like to thank you for writing your opinion about your stay in Hotel Castell dels Hams, We are delighted to read that you were satisfied with our services and we are very proud that you highlighted the cleanliness, the quality of the buffets and the friendliness of our staff. In relation to the situation of the hotel, although it is true that it is located 2 km from Porto Cristo, the shuttle service allows you to go to the town or the beach in an easy way. Regarding the animation program, it is in English, French and Spanish and our animators ask the nationality of the clients before starting the activities to know in how many languages they have to do the activity, we are very sorry for your feeling that it is difficult to participate, we will work on it to improve. Best regards, Santiago Vadell

We went to this resort knowing that it was French-run, which didn’t bother us as we understand and speak a little French. I will admit that it felt a little strange to be in Spain but speak French (LOL) but we got into the swing of things. It would probably be advisable that travel agents should make holidaymakers very aware of this before they book to avoid giving the resort negative reviews that it doesn’t deserve - just for being French! We went for a week with our 15YO son. There were predominantly French tourists, but also plenty of English, some German, and maybe some from Poland or the surrounding countries – we couldn’t quite tell. Pros: Friendly staff, both French and Spanish. Entertainment staff were young, energetic and fun. They were tireless and kept kids and adults entertained with a full schedule of activities consisting of funny party games, sports, water sports, keep fit sessions, and dance classes, amongst other things. No excuse not to be active during your stay if you were so inclined. Spacious pool area with 3 pools and a deep kids paddling pool. Lifeguard on duty every day. Plenty of sunbeds, which were comfy. Food was pretty good – only a couple of nights where the combos were slightly odd. Otherwise, great selection of salads, hot dishes (both in the ready-cooked buffet and the ‘show cooking’ area with freshly cooked food, desserts, fresh fruit, bread, and variety of pizzas in the Italian corner. There were 4 themed nights which were also pretty good. The dining window for breakfast, lunch and dinner was two hours. We tended to go at the beginning, so I’m not sure what the selection was like by the time service ended for each dining session. Restaurant had comfortable chairs. I was glad to have a bungalow as we were party poopers and usually went back to ours around 9ish with our drinks. They are set away from the main entertainment stage and we could never hear a thing. Maid service every day and clean towels most days. Free return shuttle bus service each day, except Fridays, into Porto Cristo. Mentioned by other reviewers already – if you’re particular about your timings, get there for 8pm when the tickets are released. Visit Porto Cristo if you fancy a change of scenery, bit of shopping, a meal out, or the beach. It’s a small beach town and most things of interest in the town are down by the marina/beach. Try the ice cream place facing the marina – all homemade with generous helpings! The outside bar served fizzy drinks, water, slushies, local wine, generic beer, and various unrecognisable liquor, as well as hot food and cold snacks from around mid-morning until late into the afternoon. Aircon included in the price of the holiday was a real bonus. No shortage of chairs to sit both outside and inside the hotel. Cons: I would say that more parasols were needed around the pool area, especially around the kids paddling pool. There are huge Aleppo pine trees around the main rectangular pool that offered shade at different times of the day, but a few more parasols around other parts would have been much appreciated. I’m not quite sure if the crockery and cutlery were handwashed or put through a dishwasher, but I think more diligence was needed to make sure everything was properly cleaned. Even though you’re not supposed to reserve sunbeds with towels, there were still people who did and didn’t use the sunbeds until later in the afternoon. However, as I said, there were plenty of sunbeds to be had – you just might get the prime ones you’d like. As a non-smoker, it was hard getting away from smokers whilst around the pool and in the seating area near the bar and stage. But I guess that's a me problem rather than a them problem. *shrug*
