First the good... the location is perfect, right on the beach and when the weather is good you can have breakfast outside on the beach promenade. Great... The staff are very friendly throughout. The rooms with a view of the beach are borderline small. The built-in closet only has space for hangers, there are no shelves for laundry. So you end up living out of a suitcase. Mattresses are OK, the bathroom was in need of renovation but clean.
We had half-board. The coffee at breakfast was criticized, as a tea drinker I was missing a small pot so that you could brew a larger portion of tea. The fruit salad comes from a can, otherwise breakfast was OK. At dinner it gets quite crowded... as a small hotel the selection is not huge, but the food is generally OK.
The pool on the roof terrace is more like a large bathtub. Swimming is not possible there, it is more intended as a way to cool off on hot days.
Overall it was OK for the money. You can go hiking directly from the hotel or take the bus from outside the door.

The Inn is very clean, the view is amazing. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
The choice at breakfast is very wide, it would however benefit from being of better quality (fruit juices are a mixture of water and undrinkable syrup, bacon is not incredible and cheese is insignificant, everything else was very good). Evening entertainment gives the Impression of being at the campsite... too bad and especially the sound is way too loud! (even closed window the noise was disturbing in the room)

The service is not what we used to. Bad coffee (too strong and too (cold) at breakfast, empty soap / shampoo bottles in the bathroom and defective balcony lighting ( 2 reports made) . Location however remains superb!! With some minor adjustments, these negatives should be solved!
E.g. a self-service coffee/tea machine.
It remains a cosy family hotel with friendly staff and super location!

Family run hotel. Reception staff friendly. Nice breakfast. You can hire safe and towels for refundable deposit. Bus station right outside so you can explore neighbourhoods. Stayed on the fourth floor in a sea view room. Air con not the strongest but fine with ceiling fan on. Fridge in room. Nice dipping pool on the roof

Definitely book the sea view rooms! Views were great.

Had drinks here a couple of times as it was so nice. Right on the beach and one of the best mojitos Iā€™ve ever had! Even let us take away onto the beach. Would look into staying in the hotel as the location is so lovely.

my husband and i are just back from a weeks stay and we were.nt disapointed.despite having been there for 3 days of rain. when we booked in we were given room 107 which was lovely but later that night was to discover was very noisy because a laneway runs alonside it where the biins are stored we went to reception the following morning and they moved us to 405 immediately which was very quiet and were very apologetic, however if there wasnt another room available this would have been a real problem for us as it was VERY noisy.the hotel itself is charming with the faimly that own it having decorated it with beautifull antiques and art work. it is spotlessly clean and the food is of a good stadard for h/b as a matterof fact is was lovely to see the owners and their children eating from the buffet. the solarium on the roof top is a haven of peace with stunnig veiws over the island . we had heard that the resort was 99% german that did not bother us after all your on holiday. we loved paguera the restaurants were of a high standard especially loved the ambasador we just loved their tradition mallorquin dishes.because we had rain we went to the neighbouring resorts of santa ponsa magaluf and palma nova which were not for us really loud and crowded on the plus side we went to katmandu park which is a must .loved this hotel lovey staff clean good food and right on the beach

Came here in Feb,2018 for a peaceful winter break. The hotel is right on the sea front and we were fortunate to have a room overlooking the beach and the bay. Although it is slightly cooler at this time of year wrapping up warm and sitting on the balcony is a great way to spend a lazy hour taking in the view.

The accommodation was excellent with a very comfy bed and bedding changed every day. Food in the restaurant was of a very high level and more than plentiful plus the chef came out every night to make sure that everyone was enjoying the fare.....she looked very happy that most of the food on offer was eaten every night!

Would recommend this hotel highly and we will return next year without doubt.....it does appear to get booked up quickly so youā€™ll have to be fast with your planning. Overall an excellent establishment.

We have just returned from a 16 night stay at the Carabela. I picked it purely for it's location and wasn't disappointed. The view from room 409, indeed any of the front facing higher floor rooms is marvelous. Check in was a quick and friendly process. There was no assistance with our luggage and buggy on offer. The lift is VERY small, we had to make several journeys up and down to get our 2 suitcases and buggy up to the room. The room was pleasant enough with two single beds, bedside cabinet, a dressing table and chair, TV, telephone, luggage rack and spacious wardrobe with safe (extra cost). We requested a fridge for the room at an extra 2 euro per night. The balcony is a nice size, it has two chairs, a table and a clothes airier, but no shade from the sun which shines directly for most of the day. The bathroom is basic, and quite out-dated but adequate. It has a big mirror with florescent lighting above ideal for applying make-up, it even has a hairdryer! We had a continual problem with the water temperature in the shower fluctuating between freezing cold and boiling hot. We did report it and in fairness the hotel tried their best to fix it by replacing the shower head! The hotel is family owned and run and is decorated with original art work, beautiful sculptures, furniture and artifacts. The reading room on the first floor is a little oasis of calm. Big windows, high ceilings, and decorated with love and attention. Breakfast is the usual self service bread, cold meats, cheeses, fruit, orange juice, cereals, eggs, bacon, and sausage.Dinner is served in the same room overlooking the beach. However, this is the thing which let the hotel down for me... You are told were to sit on your first night and must remain there for the duration. We were ushered to a poorly situated table for 6 which already had other people occupying it. My husband and I were expected to take the remaining 2 seats while our one year old soon was placed at the the end of the table. We asked for another table near to the window were we could dine as a family, not as a group of strangers. We were informed that this wasn't possible as window tables were already allocated. We said we would wait for one becoming available and dine out for a few nights until one became free. Ten nights later I inquired if our request had been overlooked. We were eventually allocated our own family table in the corner behind the door on the opposite side of the restaurant from the windows. We queued for our starters, lentil soup and absolutely lovely. We then queued for salads, Stilton and walnut, and a fresh garden salad. We queued again for main course, a choice of meat fritters, ham and cheese pasta, or baked beans with chopped ham. As non meat eaters we were left with absolutely no choice/option. We had baked potato with our soup and salad before queuing again for ice cream and fruit. Trays are not provided so it's quite tricky to avoid monotonous queuing. We didn't dine there again in the evening, for us it wasn't a nice relaxing experience. It was very warm and more like a works canteen. Another little bugbear for me was that the light on the balcony is centrally controlled. It comes on at 10pm and goes off at midnight. With a small child in tow my husband and I spent many evenings reading on the balcony, this was made difficult after 9pm with the fading light and absolutely impossible after midnight. Taking a head torch or candle is a must if you want to read on the balcony at your leisure once dark. And finally to the roof top pool - great views, 12 sunbeds, 4 parasols, 2 deck chairs 2 showers, and a 20 foot long X 7 foot wide, 3 foot deep plunge pool. The area is decked and on different levels so not ideal for small children. All in all a pleasant stay with friendly helpful staff in a well loved family run small, quite hotel. This hotel, indeed the whole resort, is favoured by and catered mainly for Germans.

My recent stay at the Hotel Carabela was one of my best experiences ever. The staff where professional and always very helpful. The room was always professionally prepared, and everyone was always so helpful, and courtious. Location is excellent, situated on the beach with fantastic views overlooking the sea and it is also located on the boulavard. I had an excellent break away I look forward to my next stay at this superb hotel.

This was our first time here in Paguera and at the Hotel Carabela and we were not disappointed. We were looking for a relaxing holiday and this is exactly what we got!

The hotel:
The Hotel Carabela's location is superb. The front of the hotel is situated on a bustling one way street, lined with small restaurants, small bars and small shops. The back of the hotel is on a palm tree lined, promonade directly on the beach. We were lucky to stay on the first floor (room 103) overlooking the beach which was surprisingly quiet, even though we were directly above the hotel's restuarant and on the seafront. Our room was of average size and although it did not have air con our we did have an electric ceiling fan. We had fantastic views from our balcony overlooking the beach and our room was spotlessly clean. The staff were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a beautiful modern roof top terrace with spectacular views overlooking the whole of the bay, with a small pool and around 10 sunbeds. Most of the time we had it to ourselves!

The food:
The food was lovely and fresh and very good for a 3* hotel. There was a couple of choices every night of good traditional home cooking. One thing I would say is get in quick with the home made puddings & cakes, as once they're gone they're gone!!

Resort:
There are 3 beautiful sandy beaches in Paguera, all within walking distance. There are no high rise buildings here and say it was quite a small'ish compact resort compared to others on the island. Yes, the resort of Paguera is mainly geared up for Germans and during our stay we only met 3 lots of British. However, this did not bother us one bit. We found this added to the relaxed, child friendly, quiet atmosphere of the resort. This is not a young and lively resort. I think I only saw 1 nightclub which was closed! I would say the age group was mainly over 50's and young families with babies/toddlers wanting to relax.

Who I travelled with:
2 x 35 years old
1 x 2 year old
2 x 65 years old

Quiet v Noise:
As previously mentioned I thought the hotel and medium sized resort of Paguera was fairly quiet considering the fact that it's firstly in Majorca, which is known to be a very busy island. And secondly that the hotel is on a main street. Now this might be due to us going off peak in October. Buses and cars do go past the front of the hotel but this is only one way and they are slow moving. And the pavement sweeper does go past once a day, both on the road and promonade. But there was no noise from bars and clubs and rowdy Brits binge drinking. This is a resort where people have a quiet stroll along the promonade in the evening to walk off their dinner or have a couple of drinks in the bars before they turn into bed. I'd say the noise was minimum bearning in mind the hotel's prime location. Even with a 2,000 capacity marquee set up to celebrate Oktoberfest whilst we were did not generate lots of noise.

Summary:
Lovely hotel in great location made our holiday just perfect..
