It is central to the Beach and if you want to go north or even to the rest of Mallorca it is possible.
Vilma, who served a delicous breakfast every morning is very nice, funny and helpfull.
Our biggest recommendation.
We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Mallorca west coast combined with a short work trip also.
I was given, what seemed to be, the "main suite", This is the one with the brick wall and white four poster bed that is on the majority of the publicity photos when booking. Initially i was pleased and the room does look very nice and welcoming. The bathroom is fitted and decorated in keeping with the bedroom and there is a wondow. A sony flat screen on the wall at the foot of the bed and a small vanity table and wardrobe to the left all in keepign with the room decor. Overall a nice room.
One negative would be that you do not have any privacy in the room with the curtains open..it is next to a fairly large tourist hotel and overlooks the buffet dining area.. frequently has people looking up, and in, while they run out of conversation with their partner at the table. This is made more complicated when there is no Air Con so closing the curtains makes the room even hotter and stuffier!
Once i had made myself comfortable i went to see my fiends room.... the entrance to this room was at the back off the "garden area"... when we walked in i saw my frined with a face of horror... it was a total contrast to what i had been given and gave off more of an impresion of "All that is left" room. It was dark and dingy, fitted out with old furniture, old bed and did not give you the holiday vibe you were looking for.
My other friend had a room on the first floor looking out at the garden and it was much better... not as nice as the suite i had, but at least it had some imagination and decor go into it... much lighter than the dungeon below.
The establishment seems recently renovated and is very well kept. You can see the staff watering the garden and taking care of the day to day chores of running it. Breakfast is fine and as you would expect, it is quite nice being able to have breakfast in the open air at the front of the house among the quirky decoration.
Teh garden area is a nice plus i must admit... one day we cam back for ma hot day on the beach with a couple of cokes and went through the back and sat on the wicker furniture and relaxed while we planned our next move. However, some of the fabric was starting to show signs of wear and if not looked after i can see this area becoming run down in the future and loosing its charm.
SO... why do i say it should be called a Hostal and not a Hotel and why does it get 3 TA points and not 4:
1- NO AIR CON! Sweltering nights and one of them there was no wind! I was awoken by my head sweating against the wet pillow.
2 - No concierge at night! You can come and go as you pelase.. this is not the issue, but if anythign happens or you need assistance you must call a number!!
3 - No safe offered or available.
4 - You are not given any key and quite simply the main gate and front door are left open! This works fine if you are a guest... but i can see a huge security flaw in this concept that could be exploited some day by ill minded people. Currently there is nothing stopping anybody walking in off the street entering the grounds and moving to the main room area and arriving at you room door. After that the imagination can run wild! Drunks, homeless, theives, opportunists.... anybody who has the need or curiosity to enter can!
5 - WIFI internet access is NOT FREE and is charged at 5€ a day. One of my friends paid for it and the connection was poor and not worth 5€.
6 - Over 180 channels on the TV to choose from.... 150 of them German.
Other points that i would liked to have known before booking:
Parking is VERY sparse and difficult to find, especially if you arrive during normal hours. We were forced to walk 20 minutes from the car to our rooms when we arrived early one day for a shower to go back out later. No parking is offered by the establishment.
German dominated area, who are not the quietest when on their way home with a few beers in them. All the bars show German TV.
We went in season and it would be considered a quite village mostly closing at midnight apart from 1 or 2 bars o nthe main strip.. however, knowing Spain well i will not be far wrong in thinking that out of season you will struggle to find anything open and it could become a morgue.
I was tossing between a strong 2 or a weak 3 on TA... in the end i went for a weak 3 as they have made an effort and afterall it is something different, quaint and has a home made feel about it.. All staff seemed friendly and helpfull.
All we wanted was a break at the end of the season, and we were not disappointed.
Villa Palmer is a small B&B with very comfortable amenities and an exceptional staff who could not do enough to make our stay memorable. Kea, the receptionist was very friendly and willing to provide whatever we needed, including a kettle for the room and an iron and ironing board.
Breakfast, as so may other people had mentioned, was excellent. A wide selection of fruits, cheeses and meats, croissants and breads were individually prepared and served by Jusse, again very friendly, helpful and attentive. The dining room is a very pleasant area in which to start your day.
All in all we were totally satisfied with the hotel and particularly the staff, and would not hesitate in making a return visit next year. We would immediately book Villa Palmer and would not bother looking elsewhere in Peguera for accommodation, and would certainly recommend it to others.
The service by the two ladies we saw is second to none and that plus their happy attitude was the icing on the cake.
For a different experience to chain Hotels this is the place to stay.My only negative is the heating is difficult to work, although staff always helpful to sought it out and no rugs on floor.
Villa Palmer is on a one-way street, set one street back from the main beach-facing road so there was little passing traffic. It is artistically decorated throughout with each room having a unique theme. Everywhere is colour. The rambling bougainvillea decorating the front of the property certainly catches the eye, causing some passers-by to comment on how attractive it was and take a pic or two. The hotel therefore stands out from it's surroundings and is a relative oasis of calm amongst some nearby multi-storey hotel blocks. There are a couple of bars/cafes nearby on either side none of which I found to be intrusive. Mature gardens to the rear of the property, with a sitting-out area for guest use were an added bonus as was a secure bicycle storage facility for my locally-hired cycle.
I booked a single room. It had a very comfortable double bed, pristine linen, a decent shower and plenty of storage. The small balcony was useful to sit out on late afternoon when it caught the sun. Being on the rear of the property my room was also very peaceful and quiet. The TV had a Netflix option; WiFi was free, powerful and constant.
Everywhere, the property was immaculate and a credit to the small staff, mainly Josie and Kea, who worked hard everyday to keep it so. They were fantastic, attending to customers in a friendly, considerate and personal manner always and thereby establishing the core of this unique, attractive and most welcoming small hotel. I stayed at the Villa Palmer for 1 week during mid/late May as the base for my cycling holiday - 100% recommended it and hope to be back again. Thank you.
