This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hotel Tropico Playa appears to offer a friendly atmosphere with a lovely vibe, nestled in a prime location that's just a stone's throw from the beach and local hotspots. The rooms, while praised for their cleanliness and sea views by some guests, are often regarded as basic and in need of an update. The diligent housekeeping staff earn accolades, yet many guests express concerns over the value, citing extra charges for amenities. While service can be a hit or miss, with some staff members being commended and others criticized, the hotel's tranquility seems to particularly appeal to a more mature crowd.

Hotel very clean fantastic location at beach. When we checked in wasn’t given any information about facilities entertainment where location of restaurant/pool times of meals ,etc. It was a case of asking other holidaymakers or finding out as we went about all of a sudden u would find a notice with information. We were on the fifth floor. Unfortunately not good for my knees. Lift seems to be temperamental didn’t work the first night. Sometimes it did sometimes it didn’t. There was also a flight of stairs before getting to the lift . Not a proper handrail to hold on to. Hotel very outdated indeed it was going to be shut for refurbishment in a few weeks. Rest of staff in hotel were fabulous friendly & polite. But language problem. Food ok . Not enough information in English on food or where milk was, etc. Some days better than others. Beds very comfy beautiful sea view which we paid about 11 euros extra worth paying.Entertainment was good. All in all problem was lack of information about facilities & the lift was a fair way from reception so it was as bad going down to reception to ask about lift as it was to tackle the stairs

The hotel is really nice for what you pay for it, yea it needs a revamp but some of the reviews on here and really laughable! It’s a budget hotel, but for what you pay you can’t fault! People complaining about £10 for a TV remote, it’s just a deposit you get it back! I would go again once the refurb has been done. It was a really quiet atmosphere with a lot of elderly guests, I think this is down the to time of year we went. Food always had so much choice, lots of meats, cheeses, different meal options on a night (meat and gravy, steak etc). Staff were always lovely to us and they can’t do enough for you. The people complaining are paying for a 3* and expecting 5* luxury. Would definitely recommend!

This was our second visit this year. They are winding down too close for a refurb to start soon. This is a friendly hotel, it is very clean and the food in general is good- we found something we enjoyed for most meals. The pool area at the minute is very small and in October it only gets sun until lunchtime. They are extending the pool so hopefully this will be rectified. We went to the gorgeous beach right across the road most days to get the sun all day. We were very lucky with the weather! We are looking forward to visiting again when the refurb is complete.

We've been coming as a family for 11 years to this exact hotel, it was always amazing couldn't fault it....... until we came september 2023, we could tell instantly how much it had changed, the food is the most bland boring choices, everything was dry and completely tastless no seasoning, it seems crazy it has happened to us twice but we came 4 years ago and my mum had glass in her food it cut her mouth, this time I had plastic in mine, my Mum brought the piece of plastic to the manager there, he didnt say or do anything. Then1 hour later we saw him next door drinking a pint. The lift wasn't working the whole 8 days we were there my mum is disabled and had to use the staff lift which could barely fit her walker in. 3 of the 8 days we were there our rooms wasnt cleaned. The waiters were complaining in spanish the whole time we were there about how they do to long of hours etc. They were always taking ages to clear our tables - one time for dinner it wasn't even busy but we had stacked 6 plates on our table I had to bring myself. The coffee machine is awful and taste so bad and then happen to have a good coffee machine they charge you for, so it's a all-inclusive holiday but you pay for the good stuff. The "lunch snacks" is plain crisps and toasties with no butter they just put ham and cheese. The Place looks wise, food wise, employees wise. When I first called to add someone to my room as I've been able to do this for 11 years a girl answered and rudely told me they cannot do that and said "yes and what do you want me to do about it?" Then put the phone down on me. For the money you pay for this hotel it is not worth it at all anymore, which is a shame because it's so perfectly situated but the food is just awful.

Righting this as an outsider we went into the outside bar for a snack and drink. Absolutely appalled when we went through reception to use the ladies toilets (2) the cubicle door looked like it had been kicked numerous times and the tiny lock on the door didn't work. It was certainly a throwback to the 1970s inside and needs a complete revamp. Can certainly understand where the bad reviews are coming from.

Recently returned from the Tropico and had another lovely holiday. It did'nt start to good with a problem but it was quickly resolved the next day thank you to Anna the Hotel Manager who works so hard and is a credit to the hotel. We had an upgraded room, a free safe and a complementary drink in the Tropico bar next door to compensate which we much appreciated. Was a pleasure to meet Johnnie who runs the pool bar again and enjoyed his "Johnnie beers"! Was also a pleasure meeting Danny the lifeguard and enjoyed our chats he was always happy and obviously loving his job made us feel most welcome. Yes the hotel is tired but we have been 3 times this year and did not put us off, the staff are all great and the hotel is spotless. Everybody is so friendly and has a lovely vibe to its atmosphere which we like. Food is OK never went hungry and particulaly enjoyed the omlettes cooked fresh at breakfast. The hotel is closing on the 23 October until June next year for a full refurb. Hope they will keep the exisiting staff like Johnnie, Anna and Danny and the restaurant staff who have been there for a long time, plus the hardworking cleaning staff. Can't wait to see the new look! Thank you Tropico once again see you next year and also a big thankyou to Anna the Hotel Manager for making our stay so good sorry we did not personally say goodbye to you but will not forget what you did.

Staff were very unwelcoming, no lights upto the room with 67 steps to climb with suitcases. There was a thunder storm, our bathroom ceiling sprang a huge leak, it flooded the bathroom, so we were mopping up at 2am, managing hotel director, hardly concerned about it.. place is in a state of Dis-repair and we had the best room in the hotel? sea view was almost none existent, our view was a building.. had no coffee facilities in our room, the alcohol flowed but you can't get a coffee? What's that about? We don't drink! Food wasn't great, I went vegetarian for a week, asked for an extention, which it states on a board, you can, so we asked couple of days before we were due to leave, they said "ask on the day you leave" we did and got a straight up "No" don't say we can if we clearly can't, no luggage holder, our cases were left at our own risk in reception, Not even a courtesy,"hope you've enjoyed your stay" just bye. I think you had to be drunk to enjoy this place..NEVER AGAIN!!!
