We came to san Caliu on the recommendation of another hotel which was closing, and it was an excellent recommendation. The staff could not have been nicer - Antonia in the dining room and all the Reception staff (Estanislaus, which I will have misspelt, in particular) deserve special mention, but they were all lovely, despite the lack of guests which was a bit sad, but perhaps enabled them to give great attention to those of us who were there. Everything seemed well organised, especially the breakfast service, and the evening set menu was excellent value (though did they really need to charge for water from the minibar?). We strongly recommend the hotel (we did not even try the spa); the pool is lovely, as is the little "beach" in front of it, where it is easy to swim off a jetty in the sea (bring a snorkel). It isn't cheap but for two stressed out people who needed to be sure the two week quarantine would be worth it, it was perfect.

Deserves its 4 stars . Rooms are clean , modern and well equipped but too small for our liking , you have to have a one way system for couples to go in and out of the bathroom and the sensor light in the toilet drove us mad . We paid to upgrade our room which was much better
We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and all areas are scrupulously clean . As we are here during the covid crisis the hotel is at fairly low occupancy , if it was a normal July and the hotel was full then the pool is definitely too small . Also of course it’s school holidays so naturally the pool is full of kids jumping in and out so not peaceful for adults to enjoy a swim .
One thing we hate is that there must be at least 8 to 10 owners with small dogs barking and peeing up every tree , if we had known they allow pets we wouldn’t have booked , it’s like a kennels , why can’t people go on holiday without their dogs !
Yesterday as the U.K. government announced stupidly that they would quarantine returning U.K. citizens from the Balearics , we considered staying on another week be it at this hotel or another . I sent an urgent e mail to the hotel enquiring about the cost of extending our stay to compare with other hotels but they haven’t bothered to respond , so business can’t be that bad .
We love the setting here and the son caliu area very pretty but just a few restaurants but enjoyable .
Unfortunately we wouldn’t stay again , we would be more suited to an adults only hotel although we love kids . Neither do we want to stay in an outdoor kennels .
So for families with kids and dogs the hotel is perfect

Great hotel for a couples break, highly recommend a room upgrade so you have use of the adults only Portals Lounge. Fab drinks at the bar with great service, food can be ordered and is brought to your lounger. Breakfasts great with a good selection. We have just returned from a week's stay at this lovely hotel in Son Caliu. We had booked relatively late owing to the cancellation of a Rail Tour and it turned out to be a very good choice and around 25 minutes taxi ride from Palma airport.
Our room was modern and bright (407) and suspect refurbished fairly recently. Wooden flooring and shades of blue it looked out towards the road and several buildings and with a strain a slight distant sea view from the small but adequate balcony with a table and two chairs. Being on the "city side" the balcony was in shade most of the day making it very comfortable to sit out.
The room was very comfortable albeit we would much prefer a double bed rather than two singles pushed together and there was one small chair and a stool to sit on.
The bathroom had an excellent rain shower, two small sinks and toilet and was more than satisfactory.
We were on a half board basis which meant breakfast which was excellent with a fantastic choice of hot and cold and you could even have a glass of Cava too. Dinner was a different buffet theme each of the seven nights and again the choice was excellent and continually topped up. The wine list had a good choice of local Majorcan wines which were interesting to try.
The gardens and pool area were kept spotless and the swimming pool was a nice temperature too. We found 09:00 a bit late to open although we gather this not unusual in this area.
There is entertainment each evening but we prefer to read in our room.
All staff were friendly and accomodating although we never had any problems during our stay and we would certainly consider returning.
The location is quite secluded and if you want a little more lively action it is only s short walk in to Palmanova.

This is a great resort, no question about it, but Within a few minutes the rating fall from five to three.
When we arrived with got an upgrade from a very polite receptionst due to a close down of the gym.
Room is spacious with great terrece, rooms are very clean and sound proof.
Food is ok but service level is not ok, took around 30 min between the dishes, and when we one night asked to change two dessert for one espresso they charged us??? I told one girl at the restaurant the day after and she told me that she will talk to the boss and remove the charge, that never happend .
Just steps away from the hotel there is two lovely restaurants, cheap and had great service and food so dont bother to book halfboard. The restaurants name are Muell3 and Rincon del mar.
No refill of handsoap or body lotion, you had to ask everyday. But cleaning in general was really good and very kind staff.
Many sunbeds and a few steps to the beach, not super beautiful but its the sea😀
Gym was closed but it was possible to borrow some weights to the room, great service from Irene.
So the reason why the hotel dosent get 5 is a combination of poor service during dinner ( not many guest) and bad behavior during checkout. I travel a lot and review hotel, I have been to Mallorca several times but this takes the price. So the minibar was empty, it just had two plastic bottle of small water that we thought was for the coffee machine beacuse there were NO price on the bottles or pricelist the room. We got charged 3.20 eur for each bottle!!!!!!!!!! In general its included one or two bottle of water in a 4 or 5 star hotel. And if its not included there is a price even if the minibar is totally empty. I tried to explain that there was no price and that we used it for the coffee machine but they just ignored with a bad attitude. Its not about the charge its about their behavior when I have choosed their hotel in these pandamic times to support them and they just acting like this. Its a shame and I feel sorry for the management having staff like this facing the clients. I have been in the hotel industry for many years and reviewso many hotels during all these years. Please educate your staff accordingly.

First time stay here and it didn’t disappoint! We arrived at 1am for our check in and it all went very smoothly. We had a lovely deluxe room on the 4th floor which was spotless and well appointed. Room was serviced daily including towel change by the lovely Mercedes, cleaning staff work incredibly hard and are always bright and cheerful to guests. Nespresso machine in room was a delight ( I brought my own milk frother but left the electrical base beside the machine in room 419 perhaps you could keep it for us for our next stay as we will be back!) and we had a side sea view room. We accidentally stumbled across the Portals lounge on our first day and the very friendly young lady there helped us get complimentary access for the week as it wasn’t included in our stay and the hotel was quiet after the Easter break. This was very much appreciated and a lovely extra touch. Next time I’ll insure I book it! However the hotel also had plenty of beds around the pool and beach and there was no problem getting a sunbed at any time. Hotel has a tennis court and ample gym which we used along with a lovely massage in the Spa, excellent and well priced. We also hired bikes for a few days which all went smoothly with the hotel arranging the return of the bikes to Pepes. We tried paddle boarding with the very patient Daniel from the small beach area in front of the hotel. Very enjoyable and only 30 euros for both of us, try it out if you get a chance. We stayed bed and breakfast and the choice and quality of food was fantastic. My staple became Bircher muesli followed by freshly made pancakes! We tried the evening buffet once on Mexican night and there was plenty of choice and the food was good. The hotel is in an excellent location and from there we easily walked down approx 400 meters to try different restaurants in the evenings in Palma Nova. The Muelle restaurant directly across from the hotel is excellent too. The hotel has been decorated to an extremely high standard and the staff take pride in maintaining this, it’s clear they work very hard. Reception staff were always very helpful and friendly too. There was a large tv in the lobby area and the bar manager helped us find the football match my partner wanted to watch. Nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely return and have already recommended the hotel to friends and family.

Overall the hotel was a very good 4 star. We stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms were modern and clean along with amazing showers, staff were helpful and kind, the service in the restaurant was fine. The food was pretty good, it was a buffet so didn't blow me a way but it was changed every night to provide variety. The highlight was definitely the desserts! The pool area is fairly small along with the pool itself and can get crowded especially with kids, I would recommend booking a room with access to the adults only portals lounge which has a small pool, bar and sunbeds. It is much more relaxed. The beach is a bit dirty as it is part public, it is small and crowded but very close to the hotel pool. I would suggest just having beds by the pool and walking 30 seconds to get to the sea, it is much safer that way. The sea was lovely and clean, in addition paddle boards and kayaks are available to hire from a hut on the beach. They have a tennis court which was amazing, they give you free balls and rackets. The gym is ok and the spa is also, like I said a VERY good 4 star. Definitely not 5. The best bit is that the hotel offers covid tests every day at 11:30, a company comes in and tests you. It was 40 euros for a rapid antigen test and got our results in 10 mins. Overall we had a wonderful stay here and would definitely come back, good value for money!

Apartment on a private beach and views are incredible . Hotel is run by the highest of professionals and cater to your absolute every need . The place is absolutely spotless and so much to do . The spa is incredible ! Staff are extremely friendly , professional and cannot do enough for you . Rooms are cleaned every single day and there’s a smell around the hotel that’s actually captivating . Place is beautiful and beautifully kept . The food is literally to perfection and sooo much to choose from . It’s situated 5 mins from the supermarket & about 10 mins or less to the beach and strip . I cannot rate this place enough it’s the best hotel I have ever stayed at and the view from our balcony onto the beach was priceless! Loved it so much so rebooked for next year ! Fantastic weekend stay at Hotel Son Caliu. The room, with a direct view of the sea, is large and exquisitely decorated. The breakfast, varied and of quality; the limitations imposed by the COVID are not excessively annoying. The dinner, with a menu of only 18 euros, is typical of a haute cuisine restaurant. We stayed at Hotel Son Caliu for a short break, the location is lovely and being only a short ride from the airport very convenient. The rooms are very clean and well maintained, it is very family friendly, and was very busy with children, particularly around the main pool and gardens area.
We had upgraded our room giving us access to the Portals Lounge which is adults only, it is a lovely little spot with great sunloungers and a little pool for cooling down. Unfortunately the lounge is only open from 11 am to 7pm, I have pale skin and can only get out in the sun early in the morning, coming into the shade at 11, then back out after 4 and usually until after 8, so it was very disappointing to be chucked out dead on 'closing time'. Even if you wanted to have a drink on the lounge terrace at the end of the day, without the need to sunbathe it's hard luck. They also have a commerical radio station blasting out all day, so you were doomed to listen to the same songs and adverts being played every day, I'm sure it sounds trivial, but it did slightly spoil our stay. I'm not sure I would recommend it for anyone wanting some quiet time and maximum sunshine.

We are sorry there was too much sunlight in the Portals lounge area, I know is an incredible place to stay, but it has these opening times in order to guarantee the rest of the clients in the nearby rooms. Please next time do not hesitate to ask for a parasol to the staff in the area. Furthermore we have a huge gardens with many sunbathing areas to choose. We also have the bali beds there to be in the shadow or sun if you desire. About the music, our apologies with this issue, which was solved as we had a problem with the music provider and now it plays only relax and chill out tunes.
