This place is lovely. The pool is stunning and we had it to ourselves for most of the day. The rooms are nice and modern and clean. The food in the restaurant is really good too. A great hotel all round and we will definitely be back!

We booked one night at Dalt Muntanya and unfortunately it was during the hottest spell of weather Mallorca has experienced for years - and there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms ! The fan tried valiantly but failed ! Otherwise, it’s a nice, small hotel in a pretty, tiny village. Very pleasant grounds and pool, many original features and good decor. The staff were competent, if not overly friendly, and the breakfast - taken on the terrace - was standard fare. Probably wouldn’t go again but only because “been there, done that” rather than any real fault found.

Stunning location in the mountains. Wonderfully quiet at night. Gorgeous pool. Great walks (ask the manager for the route to Castell d’Alaro: 1 hour uphill for fast walkers; 1.5 hours for slow - stunning views from the Castell - see photo attached). I particularly enjoyed the staff here. The manager can seem a little gruff on first meeting but underneath he’s a sweetie! Good food in the restaurant. Suggest you stop off at a market en route to buy water, unless you want to pay restaurant prices for all the bottled water you drink. Two good little markets in nearby Alaro (there is no market in Orient): Bip Bip or Eroski (they come up on Google maps if you search for them). Only things that travellers should be aware of in advance: no AC in the bedrooms (or at least there was not in my room) but there are fans (standing, not ceiling fans). Poor internet - the hotel literature makes it clear that there is only WiFi in the communal areas but for more than half of my stay it was very difficult to get a decent connection, even in the communal areas. No big deal as obviously if you wish to send an email you can simply hotspot off your phone (phone reception here is good), but if you are planning to stream movies in your room at night or be sending long emails to your office all day then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for total peace and an escape from the world then this is the place. I loved it!

This hotel is far off the main tourist spots in a most beautiful part of the Tramuntana Mountains. It's typically Spanish and old fashioned with a lovely pool set in a tranquil garden. No air con in the rooms (there are fans) and no fridge so you're reliant on the hotel bar for drinks, including water (local tap water is rather unpalatable) Very small bottles of combined shampoo and body wash are provided, but no conditioner so take your own. If you want peace and quiet and simple relaxation, its perfect, but you'll need a car if you want to explore anywhere else. Breakfast was a lovely and plentiful array of local cheese and meats, together with pastries and local jam and fresh fruit. The only niggle was the Nespresso coffee machine which was slow so queues build up at busy times. The restaurant is very good for dinner but you have to book even if you are a hotel resident and we were made to feel unwelcome when, due to our day getting messed up a little, we arrived back at the hotel without a restaurant booking having not eaten and had to do a bit a schmoozing to get a table!! Food is good but not exceptional and it's pricey for what it is. The local Mallorcan wine is delicious though. Other reviewers have said the hotel owner is rude/bad tempered. He's certainly not very welcoming but I think that is just his way, combined with not brilliant English; maybe he's better if you speak Spanish (which we don't, so we can't really judge!!) This shouldn't put you off coming here though; it really is a very lovely place to stay.

Stayed locally and ate here more than the hotel, lovely atmosphere and well priced. Over the week in all we had the lamb (twice) which was superb, the suckling pig, the steaks, the prawns, the fish of the day and chicken, each dish was cooked well and not over complicated, the quality ingredients were the stars. All drinks reasonably priced and the head waiter is very nice and very good.
