A fantastic family hotel in which we felt like extended family. A la carte menu was the best we have had whilst on holiday ANYWHERE. You must go half board if you can, it's absolutely worth the extra. No fuss, no frills just excellent service throughout. Close to the beach which is 100 metres away. Most clients are returning holidaymakers. We will definitely be in that bracket. Couldn't find fault anywhere. Just book and enjoy.

We visited the hotel mid July and stayed for almost 2 weeks. The service was one of the best, food at restaurant is delicious and they provided gluten free options. They were flexible as we needed early breakfast for the children.

Enjoyed pre-dinner drinks by the pool side, great selection of Spanish wines, whilst listening to the pianist.

They took care to ensure the safety of their guests over Covid period. It's a beautiful hotel, well located and close to the beach and the town centre. I highly recommend this hotel.

We visited this hotel restaurant for an anniversary meal whilst staying nearby. The kind & friendly receptionist had obviously told the restaurant staff, as our table was decorated with flowers & we were made to feel very special. Wonderful attentive service & superb, tasty food….we loved it and would welcome a chance to return (and maybe stay a night or two next time!)
Excellent help from the kind lady on reception & Andrea, our waitress. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable & perfect!

My husband and I arrived here on Sunday evening 05 June. We are having a lovely relaxing holiday in this beautiful hotel. Very few English speaking guests/staff but the staff are exceptional. On Sunday 12 June my husband sadly fell down the stairs from the roof top terrace. He missed his footing and landed in a heap knocking himself unconscious, thankfully only for a few moments. He was dazed and with the help of a kind guest and also Jurgeon, a very kind and reassuring member of staff we got him to our room. The staff called three times within the evening to inquire how he was and also how I was. Nothing too much trouble. They sent us a beautiful basket of fruit and when the Dr came, one of the lovely receptionists came to our room to translate for us.
The food is delicious. We are well travelled and cannot remember such a delightful breakfast being served to us. Every member of staff who we have seen asks how my husband is feeling. We are overwhelmed by their kindness towards us.
Tonight we had dinner and it was also delicious and beautifully presented. A memorable meal. We will be very happy to return and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, classy and luxury hotel
Only negative is the amount of mosquitoes. Perhaps this is due to the current heatwave ….

I researched long and hard to find the right hotel for us in CSJ - it was between El Coto and Villa Chiquita just up the road but finally we decided on El Coto. Did we regret it? No, not at all, it really is a charming hotel, clean, spacious, quiet and classy. The pool is a true delight, deep and blue and surrounded by luscious plantings. A real oasis of calm.
Our superior room, number 210 on the second floor had a minimal view of the pool and beyond that the road and backs of other hotels so not a very pleasing outlook. The room wasn't as large as we'd expected, the website shows much larger rooms classed as superior but it was well appointed, a very comfortable bed, well stocked mini bar, TV with over 100 channels but not one of them in English (CNN and BBC World service were shown as "indisponible"), a spotless bathroom with drench and hand held showers, luxury tiles, good quality toiletries and (to my horror!!) a set of weighing scales. Storage space was a little on the ungenerous side but adequate. The hotel laid on a bottle of chilled cava for our arrival which we thought was a lovely touch.
The food at dinner was mixed to be honest, sometimes outstanding, sometimes poor. The wine list was excellent and not expensive, we drank mostly Mallorcan rose which was perfect with most dishes. What did surprise us was that guests were expected to choose their evening meal at breakfast, not ideal. The other thing that surprised us is that gentleman are required to wear long trousers at dinner. I mention it just in case anyone reads this review, I have seen no reference anywhere on El Coto's website to indicate that this traditional and somewhat old fashioned practice is in place and it could prove inconvenient.
On the morning we left we had a silly departure time but the hotel reception insisted on preparing a light breakfast which we thought was extremely kind given the unearthly hour.
So all in all I think the four star rating I have given El Coto is fair, the hotel describes itself as 4star superior but it has no parking on site but a rather complicated arrangement with a local bike rental business for which OH paid the fairly modest sum of 30 euros for 5 days. The staff are efficient and welcoming, other guests friendly and well mannered, no rowdiness at this hotel. A quaint, slightly quirky experience I think....

Dear Susan, thank you very much for your positive comments and your really detailed description of your experience. We are very happy that you enjoyed our garden as a real oasis of calm and that you has been content with the room facilities. As our hotel is an older building and some renovations have been made in recent years, all our rooms are different in layout and size. Regarding the TV channels we want to inform you that we have CNN. It seems that there was a problem with the reception on the TV set. Why did’nt you inform us? We would have solved the problem immediately. We apologize, that our request for gentlemen to wear long trousers for dinner is a little old fashioned practice. In Spain, however, it’s usual to wear long trousers for dinner in a hotel of our category and we also prefer, to give our clients an elegant ambience in our restaurant. You are right that it is a little bit unusual to choose dinner at breakfast, but planning for our cuisine is much easier and our guests do not have to wait a long time in the evening. We are probably the only hotel in Majorca that includes a 5-course à la carte menu in the half-board rate. We hope to welcome you again and remaining with kind regards Family Navarrete and team

I have been coming back here for the last three years. This year I’ve been twice. I consider myself as well traveled and I know good food and good service. This hotel hits top marks in all categories. You may think your paying a little more than you would normally for a hotel in this area but you get a whole lot more. Dinner here is a must. It’s five courses and prepared by a chef not a cook. The wine list is extensive and the staff are knowledgeable about their wine.
The hotel makes me relax as soon as I arrive, it’s very peaceful around the pool and the rooms are large, luxurious and cool.
Every night at dinner you can expect to be welcomed at some point by the owners to make sure everything is fine and to ask how you are or about your day. It’s makes so many other luxury hotels I’ve stayed at now feel a little impersonal by comparison.
The first three time I came here I came with my son. He was 10 the first time and although there were no other English kids for him to play with he had such a good time he wanted to come back.
The beach here is clean and sandy. The sea is clear and warm, it feels very much like the Caribbean not the med.
it’s also a great place to scuba dive, the island of Cabrera has a protected dive areas and Bernard the Grouper will follow you around.
Take my advice and go here one day, and you will be coming back!

We live on Mallorca and rarely leave the island because we have quite a few pets to look after at home. We do however enjoy the occasional night away and our latest (last Friday) was for my husband's birthday.

I'd heard good reports about the place last year - but just as it was about to close for the winter. Fortunately I remembered what I'd heard and booked it, hoping the recommendation had been a good one. And it most certainly was.

The hotel has only 50 bedrooms and is family-run. Both the owner and his wife came individually to speak to us at some stage during our stay. We arrived to find a beautiful room (suite 102), with a large balcony (with a table and two chairs, two large lounging armchairs with footrests, and a useful rack for drying wet swimwear). At the front of the hotel, we had a view over the salt pans - a strikingly unusual view on Mallorca and one that has a particular beauty at sunrise.

Street parking is a challenge in August, as the hotel is only a couple of minutes' walk from the sea, but no worries as the hotel has its own parking lot (with chain across entrance) just around the corner. There is a parking space outside the hotel where you can unload luggage and collect the key for the chain's padlock, before you go off to park.

The hotel has a lovely garden, with good-sized swimming pool and lots of space for lounging, either around the pool or in the quieter area to the side, with sand on the ground and the shade of pine trees. We relaxed on loungers with comfortable cushions to the soporific sound of wood pigeons cooing . . .

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are alfresco (in good weather), with tables on two sides of the pool, but there's also an attractive dining room (where the breakfast buffet is set up). It was particularly lovely at night, with the addition of candles around the place.

There are three reasons we'll return here:

1. The staff. Everyone was so friendly and had time to exchange a few words. Our waitress at lunchtime took the trouble to come and seek us out (on the other side of the restaurant) in the evening to wish us a good dinner.

2. The food. It's excellent. The restaurant is also open to the public - which is worth knowing about - but you would need to book in advance. There's a good a la carte menu and, as we were on half-board, we could choose five courses from this (of which the first was a help-yourself salad buffet). Everything else was served.

3. The wines. I lost my husband for a while when the wine list arrived. It's impressive. Apparently they have about 500 wines - and they range from very reasonably priced local wines to some luscious little numbers (with bigger number prices) that would satisfy any wine connoisseur. The owner is known for his excellent cellar and wine knowledge.

Some of the things I liked about our suite included lots of free-hanging wooden clothes hangers and a walk-in wardrobe. There was a coffee capsule machine (which we didn't actually use), weighing scales (wouldn't have dared to step on these if we'd stayed for a week, given the excellent food), a safe big enough for a small laptop, and mini bar. The free Wi-Fi also worked well inside the hotel.

El Coto is at the quieter end of the resort, but there are a few bars/cafes, and shops in the area. If you like cycling, a hire shop is just around the corner (near the hotel's parking lot).

If you come here don't miss the chance to visit the Flor de Sal d'es Trenc premises to buy some of Mallorca's hand-harvested salt to take home.

Not to big, yet not too small hotel with old world charm. Great food, great atmosphere--pool is especially gorgeous--nice staff--Ruben was our favorite. Caters to German but as Americans, we had no trouble with language barriers. Had a fantastic breakfast including Nutella! Loved our stay here.

Do they serve Buffet or ala carte at dinner time?
Answer from Myriam N
Dear Bonicapo, At dinner time, we serve a la carte, which is included in the half board. Our dinner menu changes every 3 to 4 days, so there is no need to repeat any dish during your stay and we offer a large salad buffet as well. I hope we have answered to your question. If you may have any further enquiry, please contact us. Yours faithfully, Family Navarrete & EL Coto Team
