The staff and accommodation were excellent, superb location food choices were great however the entertainment could be improved. The only drawback for elderly people or people with walking disabilities is the amount of steps there were. overall we had a superb holiday.
Stayed here with our family, 3 toddlers under 4 years old. If you are disabled or have any waking issues, this hotel is NOT for you. Pool area does not have a snack bar, just alcohol and ice cream at the bar. You have to keep your cups with you at all times, as if you lose them, they charge €1 per cup. From the pool to the restaurant you have to go up 4 flights of stairs then across the foyer to the front of the hotel, cross the road and then another flight of stairs down to the restaurant. Remote control, safe and extra key are all chargeable. We were in 436 sea view apartment which was another 2 flights of stairs as there are no lifts in this hotel. My daughter was in a room with no view and there was no privacy as people were walking past these rooms all the time. In general the rooms are lovely, air con was amazing, although the apartment had a kitchenette, there was no kettle, toaster etc but had a fridge. Food and drinks were ok, I will say I think this hotel is for the younger holiday maker and not greatly catered for families. Was quite noisy when we were there with groups of drunken people. The view from the top sea view rooms are stunning. …
To summarise: Distinctly average. You get what you paid for. For a cheap holiday it could be *fine* IF they sorted out the food. The hotel itself is modern and fresh. Pool area is fine and clean and the bar is nice. The sea view is excellent and there is a lovely cliff top walkway just down from the pool area. We did note that access to the hotel is not controlled via the cliff top entrance, giving anyone direct access to the pool and bar area. The restaurant is what significantly lets the hotel down. I would liken it to a care home dining room. Hot, bright lights, orange curtains, blue chairs. It’s like a canteen and not a pleasant dining environment. Their restaurant is across the road from the hotel, with no views. Not sure why they don’t use the very big bar space with fantastic views instead as this would solve the majority of the hotels issues. Food: I cannot describe the food in another word other than strange. An odd collection of dishes, very repetitive. There is one pizza daily with mystery toppings. Always chips (even at breakfast). The full English is abysmal - refined and processed. No croissants or similar. Poor range of cereal. The whole restaurant smells fishy. Our group of none picky eaters did not enjoy or find the experience pleasurable. Very processed. The food serves the basic necessity of stopping us going hungry, but we ended up eating out more times than we had budgeted for due to the horrendously poor quality and awful restaurant dining environment. No authentic Spanish food either. The flies on the bread were the final straw. The huge main drawback is NOTHING is labelled. As a vegetarian, it was incredibly hard to know what was what. I ate a pork bolognese sauce that was called ‘tomato sauce’, and the chef could not tell me what was in it. No idea what was on the pizza. Soup labelled ‘poultry soup’. If there was even any labels at all, it seemed to get fewer and fewer labels towards the end of the week. If you have any allergies, stay clear. The ‘vegan selection’ was literally just salad. Literally leaves, tomatoes and onions. As others have also mentioned, the hotel would benefit from food at the pool bar or bar as it’s such a long walk to the restaurant from the pool and rooms. The food is nothing that couldn’t be fixed by the hotel easily, what was cooked wasn’t the worse food, it was just weird. Drinks: On a plus, the drinks are unlimited. You have to keep the same plastic cup for the whole stay (to reduce plastic waste, understandable, but for the love of god, just use glasses!). Cocktails are artificial and out of a tap, which I think tells you it all. At breakfast there is apple and orange juice squash out of a tap. Water is also not readily accessible. Rooms: The rooms are clearly recently renovated, very clean and in great condition. Nice bathroom too. We didn’t pay for a sea view but the partial sea view was still fantastic. The hair dryer was broken but fixed by the next morning. The room and balcony were cleaned every day with fresh towels. Plenty of sockets, a nice big mirror, decent lighting, black out curtains and enough hanging space. It is bizarre that the rooms have a kitchenette, complete with fridge, hob and table for 4, but no crockery at all. No pots, pans, plates, knives and forks or even glasses. What’s the point? Seems very strange. The beds are not doubles, rather 2 singles pushed together, which we found out the first night when we fell down the middle! We asked reception if there was a strap to fasten them together and was rudely told no. Again, strange. As others have mentioned, you have to rent a kettle for €10. But you also have to rent a safe! Ridiculous as the hotel has a disclaimer of no responsibility for stolen property unless you use the safe. Even a very basic premier inn offers glasses, a kettle and a safe. We found the room to be very noisy. We could hear what seemed to be furniture being moved at all hours and people moving around in other rooms. The seal on the front door wasn’t great either, I wouldn’t feel safe staying there alone. Facilities: In the room brochure it says massages are available and there is also a huge banner in reception. When we asked, we were told rudely that they don’t do them despite the receptionist standing next to a banner saying otherwise! The brochure also details tennis courts, which the receptionist again denied, then after pressing told us it was at the sister hotel’s site over 25 minutes walk away. Also find it a rip off that you have to pay to use the pool tables, one of which doesn’t provide a white ball and no refund offered. Basically, the facilities are misleading. The location is fine, a purpose built tourist town with English ‘pubs’ and the usual tourist shops. The town is literally two seconds walk away. There is a regular bus (428) that runs to other port side towns including Portocristo which is easy to use. There are a couple of nice beaches in the area. Evening entertainment in the hotel seems to be lacking compared to the other hotels in the area, as others have mentioned. Staff: Most of the staff were lovely. The entertainment team, bar staff, some receptionists and cleaning staff were helpful and nice. 2 of the receptionists provided horrendous customer service. Down right rude. We did not ask for much, simple queries. When we arrived at nearly midnight, they demanded to hold our passports over night and didn’t provide an explanation as to why. Not sure why they couldn’t photocopy them then and there as every other hotel has done. It is a big shame as the hotel has really missed the mark and with a few tweaks it could be a decent getaway. Don’t let this review put you off going, but be realistic about your expectations given the price point. If you’re happy to eat out and use the hotel as a room and pool, rather than an all inclusive, then it’s decent.…
Went to this Hote HL calas parkas was told that this was a lovely hotel ,so we to book in for 2 weeks and asked if we could look around the grounds and was told that was OK.after half an hour I went to reception to book in and was told by a very rude woman that if we did not leave she would call the police and have us removed so I thought with that kind of reception we would leave and never go there at all Reception was disgusting very rude down b9ok3d q flight back to UK
Very good for the price. Rooms very clean. Close to the beautiful beach, although a bit crouded. Only one minus- lacking information on the allergens. It would be also good if it was food special for children.
Loved my stay here. Hotel was very clean and staff were happy to help with any query. Area was quiet, but had shops and a few bars nearby within easy walking distance. The beach was also within walking distance to hotel. Had a lovely view of the sea from our room. Would come back.
The check in was super quick and easy, staff members were polite and explained where to find the restaurant, bars etc. The room was clean and cosy, cleaners were there changing towels and bed sheets daily and the area was quiet which was great if you have a child! The restaurant has different food option and enjoyed the food, I’m a very picky eater and there was always different options. The pool area is nice, managed to find sun beds everyday with no problem and bar right next to it. The beaches are only 4-5 minutes walk from the hotel and they are beautiful, blue crystal clean warm water however lots and lots of rocks in the water so I couldn’t even walk and kept hurting my feet. Entertainment is excellent for both adults and children during the day and night always ensuring we are having fun and very friendly. You always have supermarkets, bars and tourism shops walking distance with friendly local people but be careful when buying something they lie and Increase the prices of something for example I went to buy a beach towel which was €4 but husband went to pay and worker said it’s €10. If they notice your a tourism they will try to charge you way more than it should be. It was our first family holiday, when I booked this holiday there were more bad reviews than good and I was worried but really glad I’ve booked for HSM we loved every bit! Overall, different would come back…
2nd time at hsm calas park and its probably the best holiday we have had in a long time.we really can't fault anything to do with the hotel at all.nothing is to much of a problem for anyone. You see people moaning about the food,of which I can't understand, if maybe they would try something other than chips they would be OK. Been trying to book again but can't seam to anywhere. I'll keep trying for 2023.
This was our fifth time visiting the Calas Park and I’m sure it won’t be the last. The friendly faces we last saw pre pandemic were still there except for in the dining room! The food was good but there seemed to be a lack of fresh fruit only a few bananas were out out each meal which was disappointing especially in the morning! Check in was quick and efficient and we were soon lying down by the pool ready for an afternoon in the pool, the hotel has invested in all new sun beds this year and there were plenty of them ! The entertainment crew were brilliant as usual, ably lead once again by Nadia with Thomaz, Nieves and Magdalena supporting, keeping both adults and the little people busy and entertained, our little one loved it and was sad to leave her “new friends” yesterday Sadly the resort requires a lot of work and I don’t feel it is fair the authorities are letting it get into such a sad state of affairs, areas full of rubbish, pavements cracked and quite honestly dangerous! What is happening to all of the tourist tax ? I thought this was being ploughed back into the resorts or is that just the large resorts ? Work needs to be done and quick before people stop visiting this little gem of a small town. I will also say that some of the service in restaurants was lacking ! If you want to eat at the steak house make sure you book our initial experience at the travellers inn was poor however thanks to one lady soon resolved ! The room was as always immaculate the housekeeping team visited daily changing towels etc thank you to them ! All in all once again an amazing week, and all being well we will be back next year! Thank you to you all have a restful and healthy winter xx…
The hotel is amazing. We love the food and the service. All is really clean and really close to the beach. We will repeat for sure! For families is perfect, we have really enjoyed the holidays and we recommended it 100%z
