We visited in October as a family of 5 with kids aged 8, 5 and 3.

The room- we booked a 2 bedroom suite with sea view (Block C). The room was huge and the perfect size for our family. All beds were very comfortable (including the pull out sofa bed which was a very welcome surprise). Pillows were of a good quality too. All rooms had good quality curtains which blocked out all the light. We visited very end of season so I will admit the room did have a small amount of wear and tear that needs fixing but nothing that impacted on our time there.

The food- we opted for all inclusive and with any all inclusive buffet option with 1 restaurant, I personally think it would be unreasonable to have high expectations on food. That said, the chefs work very hard to produce a large variety of foods and these do change for every lunch and dinner time. There is a new themed night for dinner and this was welcome. The breakfast options are identical every morning but again, a large variety so no issues there. I'd say the quality was pretty good. Snack bar is also the same everyday, would have been to have seen this changed up a little over the week but again, not a big issue really. Wine, beer and pre mixed cocktails were all of a decent quality for all inclusive. I'd absolutely say it was value for money.

The entertainment- 3 pools (1 adults only) were all of a good size, ping pong tables (paddles and ball required from reception), football pitch and kids club. The staff at kids club (particularly Max and Mikki) worked really hard and made an amazing bond with my kids that it had a hugely positive impact on our holiday- a big thank you to them. Two sessions are offered for kids club- 1 x morning, 1 x afternoon and you sign them in and out on drop off and collection. Staff engage well with the kids and activities included staff painting, arts & crafts, outdoor toys and boardgames. Entertainment staff also came round the main pool everyday for inclusion in games if you wanted to with no pressure. Although mostly simply games (i.e darts) it was fun. There is a mini disco every evening at 9pm - 9.30pm for the kids which they all enjoyed however this is exactly the same every evening.

The location - spectacular. A literal 5 minutes walk from cala egos town but just far enough away to get the joy of the incredible sea & cliff views. Close to shops in the town, Es Pou beach and Es Forte (little fort which is worth the little walk and visit to break up the day).

Overall - I'd absolutely recommend this hotel. The staff are all lovely and work very hard and our family had an amazing week away here.

I have stayed at the Lopez family run hostal on and off for decades now. This year I brought with me more of my extended family and Elena and her father went out of their way to make everybody essentially feel like we were staying as VIP guests in their family home. Nothing is too much for them. They are kind, generous and go out of their way to ensure that the guests are provided a clean, efficient and friendly stay. It's crazy that it's classified as a 'hostal'. It's so much more than that. Perfectly located in the centre of Cala D'or itself. It benefits from being surrounded by all the buzz but still remaining a really relaxed place to stay. A fridge and a small freezer in every room. Cutlery, Plates. Kettles and en suites. The rooms and towels are clean and changed very regularly and come with either a balcony or small terrace. A flat screen TV (variety of channels from across Europe). But the single greatest addition to my last stay is the wonders of air-con. The rooms are incredibly cool and the times in which the air-con can be used isn't limited or controlled externally which is brilliant. All this at incredibly good value price.

Perfect. Thank you.

I've been coming to Elena and her family run accommodation for a very long time now. Her kindness, warmth, cheerful and relaxed nature make staying here so lovely. She will go out of her way to make sure that you have everything you need in place. This year providing a kettle for my mums much needed cup of tea at the end of a day. The rooms are spotlessly clean. Air conditioned. Some fixtures and fittings have been upgraded in recent years and the beds are very, very comfortable. Good hanging and drawer space for couples too. The bathrooms are compact but perfectly adequate for the price. A decent size fridge in every room too, plus a small outside drying rack for towels etc.

The location itself is perfect. You are 5 minutes from Cala D'Ors central restaurants and bars, 5 mins from Cala Gran and Cala D'or beaches (the latter being the better one personally). 10-15 minute walk to the marina with all its glossy boats and lovely restaurants.

The other little facet of the accommodation is that guests share books, lotions, buckets, spades, lilos, parasols + parasol screws upon leaving. It's a quiet place in the evening and it's lucky enough to be across the road from Cala Gran Cocktail bar which is the best in resort by some way.

It's a perfect little place.

Great place stay in Cala D’or - in close proximity to all bars, restaurants and beaches. Very clean. Staff nice, friendly and helpful. Aircon and fan in the room, also a fridge which was amazing. Good value for money. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for a value for money self-catering stay in Cala D’or.

This place gets better each time we visit. Now rooms have air con and TVs. Ideally located for beach, marina and local shops /restaurants. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Try the cafeteria Marfil and cafe Neptuno both a few metres from the Caravel la.

I've been staying in this hostel for many years now. This is not any ordinary traditional hostel (no dorms or shared kitchens etc), but instead much more of a quality budget hotel. The rooms are simple and very clean. Towels are changed every other day as is the bedding. Each room comes complete with a kettle, some glasses, cups and saucers, some standard cutlery, balconies and crucially a fridge (usually with a freezer compartment)! The rooms can get warm in the heat of the summer and although each room has a ceiling fan as the rooms do not have air conditioning (only one at a higher price level) its advisable to bring other means alongside the ceiling fan to keep cool at night.

Sadly the hostel doesn't have a pool but I've always understood that you can cross a small quiet road over from the hostel to use the neighboring hotels pool if required.

The staff from the cleaners to the managers are both kind, cheerful and incredibly helpful. The hostel is family run and Elena and Angel go out of their way to help make my stay the best it can be.

The hostel is full of little perfect bonuses that make it very good value for money. Firstly the wifi access is free and although it can be intermittent it is still ideal for those wanted to stay connect with the world. Secondly the rooms all have free secure safe boxes within them. The hostel and the resort as a whole feels incredibly safe and family driven but this bit of added peace of mind is great. Thirdly in reception you have access to free lilos, bats and balls, straw beach mats, parasols and magazines.

Location wise the hostel is situated in the centre and doesn't suffer from feeling like its too noisy or busy as a result....200 metres from several of the beaches and 50-100 metres from the main shopping, restaurant and bar areas. Its a people watchers paradise.

Simple, incredibly clean, wonderfully friendly staff, great location and amazing value for money set in a resort that is perfectly designed for families and couples alike to make the most of their time in the sun.

Very central (0 meters), a little loud at night but who cares? :)
Less than 5 minutes walk to the biggest beach, Cala Gran, and maybe 5-7 minutes
walk to the next beach, Cala d'Or.
The staff was very hospitable and friendly, always willing to help out with stuff.
Free beach umbrellas, beach matresses and magazines to borrow.

My wife and I booked in here for 3 days in May. It was brilliant value for money and immaculately clean. The room had a nice balcony and came with free wifi, safe, fridge and kettle etc. There are also lots of items available to use for the beach (air beds, umbrellas, beach mats bat & balls) all free.
Very nice staff too. Really couldn't fault it. Less than 5 mins to the beach and in the centre of town. We would definitely return.

We stayed here early October. This was a budget holiday but we were very impressed by how clean this hostel is kept. It is family run and every one of the staff were friendly and always cheerful. Wifi was good, we had 1 of the rooms overlooking the street and as it was a quiet time of year it was pleasant to people watch. The shower was good, we took our cafetiers to have coffee and orange juice on the balcony each morning. Very near supermarket and patisserie for fresh pastries too!. Central for everything, beach 5 min walk & many restaurants just over the street. I would return here no problem

Hostal de la Caravel-la was great. We booked on a last minute deal and were delighted with the hotel. It is run by a friendly family who helped us book our excursions and transfers. The room was large, clean and had a huge balcony. The hotel is located right in the heart of town, among restaurants, cafe's, ice cream shops, clothes shopping and bars. It's a 2 min walk to the beautiful beach with clear water and white sands. A great stay, we got lucky!
