SENTIDO Tucan is an adults-only hotel in the centre of Cala d'Or on the south East coast of Majorca. The hotel overlooks the sea and is within walking distance of the yacht marina where there are cafés, restaurants and bars. The beach of Cala Gran is a short stroll away, and there are steps leading down to it from the hotel. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a surrounding sun terrace and tree-filled garden. There are plenty of places to sit and relax with a drink from the pool bar. There's an onsite gym and spa with a sauna and a whirlpool, and you can book a massage. Staff run fitness classes during the day, such as Pilates and aqua aerobics. The hotel has a buffet restaurant. If you get hungry throughout the day, snacks and light bites, such as burgers, hot dogs and salads, are available. You can also enjoy coffee, tea and ice cream in the early evening. Regular wine tasting sessions are held in the indoor bar.

The only thing going for this place is the lovely staff. Not for a young couple there is absolutely nothing to do. Unlike the pictures, the hotel is quite small. The activities consist of water aerobics, darts and table tennis all week. When laying by the pool it is claustrophobic, lots of beds that most of them are reserved at 25 euros each for the week, unless you wake up at 8am to put your towel down (which is apparently against the rules), otherwise you will never get a bed. There is no where to go or nothing really to do in the hotel other than lay by the pool. When you lay by the pool you can see the built up/ some run down apartments next door. (No open space and no sea view). There was animal poo by the pool for two days but it got cleaned up after a complaint. It is a 5 minute walk away from the beach, which would be great but it is a tiny beach. No space what so ever and only two below average restaurants located around the beach. The room looks very modern and nice in the pictures but its basic and clean, cleaners are lovely. The first night we arrived the bed did have a stain on the sheets but the staff were lovely and sorted it. Honestly if you are picking this place because you've been here before and you like the location then come. If it's for a cheap holiday, spend a little extra and go somewhere else with things to do. The only thing nearby is the tiny beach and lots restaurants/bars. Other than that there is nothing to do during day unless you book one of the few excursions with thomas cook. One week is too long. Food and drink locally is not cheap. The dinners out are quite expensive. Looking at spending nearly £50 a time per couple (without alcohol) the average paella is around £19 pp. The gym is embarrassing they might aswell not have one. If you are stuck here for the week we highly recommend doing the caves of drach (swimming in caves tour). Excursion though thomas cook. It was an absolute brilliant day and total highlight. Also son amar or pirates one evening but the availability this time round has been very limited. If you want to come to mallorca I highly recommend going to can picafort. Better beaches, better location and loads more to do. Food NOT FOR VEGETARIANS, the food labels are not clear. The "seafood paella" had huge chunks of beef that wasn't labelled and veggie pizza was disgusting. If your vegan or vegetarian there isn't much options for you. Meat eaters however the food is decent. Staff have been friendly the whole way through, they really carry this place. Live music in the evening has been great. This hotel is suited to older couples.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Tucan. It’s perfectly located for the beach and all the shops, bars and restaurants in Cala D’or. The staff could not have been more helpful, cannot praise them highly enough. When we arrived the other clients were mostly certainly older than us (70+) on the whole, not a problem though, and this changed as the week progressed. We were all inclusive and found the variety of food very good with a large choice to suit our tastes. We did not find the food cold as in previous reviews and the chef cooked some items to order. We loved the evening entertainment, which on the whole was superb, especially Motown Mania. We did pay to reserve sunbeds but we were up early and did not witness a frenzy for beds that we have encountered at other hotels. Our daughter’s room had an issue when we arrived but the receptionist rectified this at the earliest opportunity. The most relaxing of holidays and we will certainly visit again. We normally rent a villa or apartment but the Tucan made this holiday stress free and very relaxing, thank you to all the team from the friendly maid staff to the waiting staff and receptionists. Muy bien!

The hotel is in a good location and close to the many restaurants on offer thank god! We only ate twice in 10 days even though we paid I could not eat the food it’s all pre cooked and kept warm under lights by the time you got to the table (no atmosphere) the food was cold. Had to get up at 7 to save the beds otherwise €25 each for a week to save. Only allowed to change the towels once or you have to pay Would not visit again

Dear 1960mag, I would like to thank you for your visit and feedback. I am sorry some aspects of your holiday were not up to your expectations. We use lights to keep the food's temperature because British guests love very hot meals and it secures we reach that temperature that way. Only 30% of the sunbeds are reserved and most of the time there is enough space for everybody who would like to lay down around the pool, though the sunbeds that are nearer to the pool are usually the ones with highest demand when booking them. We offer a free towel change per week in order to be environmental friendlier and avoid unnecessary washing. Best regards, Guillermo Ridruejo

We are on the last night of our 1 week stay at this hotel and it’s been a lovely one. The room has great air conditioning so kept us cool in this warm weather and the bed was lovely and comfy. The food is straight forward and of a very good standard - admittedly I can be a very fussy eater and I always found something I could have. The surrounding area is fantastic with lots of nice places to eat, drink and shop. My only slight bug bear would be the sun loungers it seemed more and more became reserved as the week went on so it could be difficult to get one if you didn’t want to pay to reserve one but as long as you are out early enough you will be fine. We would happily still again! Thanks again for having us

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Location, food, staff & entertainment all superb. Wifi excellent, all towels provided & even the safety deposit boxes are free of charge. Really comfy beds & pillows. A very civilised hotel. We loved that guests were served Martinis on arriving for dinner. Difficult to get a sunlounger in the afternoon as 30-40% of the beds are out-of-bounds unless you pay to reserve them (25€ per week), but that's my only criticism. Overall a wonderful stay & we fully intend to return. Thank you so much for looking after us!
