This was our second trip to this hotel. It is well priced for what you get. We had a sea facing room and that was very refreshing. We stayed with the half board option, and to be honest I cannot complain about the food at breakfast or dinner. There was sufficient selection to keep us happy and full. The hotel has an outside pool with limited seating that fills up quite quickly. However, the hotel is literally on the beach so there is no need for a pool really. The cove (cala) is actually beautiful and you can snorkel around it without much issues. There are a fair amount of sea life as well with various Bream, starfish, and eels being visible. We went in September and the sea was warm enough to stay in the water for a few hours before needing to get out.
We recently returned from a 12 night all-inclusive stay at Barcelo Ponent Playa. We stayed in a sea view room overlooking Cala Ferrera and the views were absolutely incredible so highly recommend to book a sea view room! The food was way better than expected and very high quality plus it was constantly changed to ensure freshness and many options to choose from. The dining room overlooks the beach which is lovely. There is a beach bar with some sun beds where we spent most of our time. It’s literally 10 metres from the beach. There is also a large pool with plenty of sun beds and a pool bar at the rear of the hotel that serves snacks outside of meal times! In the evening the main entertainment bar is open and we watched a really good dancing and singling show on the last night. Cala Ferrera is about a 15 minute walk from the Cala d’or centre and there are other coves nearby but personally we preferred Cala Ferrera, however they are all really nice. The hotel is a little outdated but the location and the staff are incredible, Eva from reception and Jose from the beach bar were very friendly and helpful. The cleaners did a fantastic job of keeping our room clean each day and the hotel in fact was spotlessly clean at all times. So thank you to them.. The Chefs and dining room staff were very professional and welcoming and did a wonderful job despite Covid restrictions! Overall unbeatable location, Amazing staff, Excellent food and we would definitely recommend and will be returning one day for sure!…
17th Sept 2021. A long transfer to the hotel 1hr40min was a pain but at least the sky was blue and the sun was shining. prior to arriving i had emailed hotel to let them know it was our anniversary and if at all possible a room with a nice view would be lovely. at check-in Eva went through everything with us (she is a bit bonkers - in a nice way). we had room 743. i had done a little research and all the best views are from floors 6&7 so i was very hopeful. boy was it a great view! down to the beach and out to sea! first impressions of the hotel was that it was a little tired and dated and in need of some TLC but as i stood on the balcony all that was forgotten. We had a knock at the door about an hour after we arrived and opened it to a bottle of sparkling wine and two glasses! what a lovely gesture. hotel staff were brilliant all week, the hotel was fairly quiet as it was coming to the end of the season but there were lots of shops and places to eat still open. we walked to the main shopping area most mornings and the veged out on the beach in the afternoons. food was plentiful, varied and tasty. grilled lamb chops on evening and had meat sweats going to bed, they were that good! lots of places to walk and things to see so location was great. bus stop about 200m from hotel to get around the island and plenty of car and bike hire nearby too. we didnt try the entertainment as we are light weights and were back in the room fairly early. entertainment started at 9.45pm? wine, beer, water or soft drinks are served with the meals, proper coke fanta etc which was nice. the bottled beer is excellent as was the wine. spirits at the bars are local variety and par for the course at AI hotels. weather was good for first 4 days then lots of rain in the mornings for the last 3 (still sunny in afternoons) towels beds and room done EVERY day my single complaint would be the room! the extractor fan for the kitchen was right above the room. it came on at about 5.45am and went off at about 10.00pm. it was very noisy! times were ok unless you were in the room during the day. but this is a very minor complaint. would i go there again? YES. would like to go to Palma so perhaps closer to the capitol but could not really fault the hotel staff or location. and EVA is as mad as a hatter.…
Very good and beautiful place, the most beautiful beach in the area, clear room (cleaned every day), very nice and helpful staff, good meals, very good snacks, a lot of drinks. We recommend this hotel
Lovely, pretty bay and great location for hotel. Booked all inclusive, but was disappointed that this did not include....car parking, sun beds (free ones are around pool but gone by 8), a safe, kettle and mini bar (fridge) and certain drinks you had to pay for. The hotel could be really nice, but definitely needs updating. We was told next year it was being refurbished. Having coeliac I found the beach bar (in the hotel) awful for gluten free food. I complained and was told nicely that the restaurant has the gluten free food. I explained that when sunbathing/swimming etc you want to eat casual not in a restaurant. I asked if I could get my gf food from the restaurant and take it to the beach bar to eat with my husband, but was told no! Initially I found the main restaurant not very helpful regarding gluten free, but thankfully found a lovely chef Diego who helped me which was great. Signs above the food showing a gf or wheat logo would help immensely. One or two had labels. Overall, nice location in a quieter area and would go back if the above issues was sorted.…
