i dont normally return to the same place twice , but i have just booked for next year, this is a little gem of a small hotel and i cant wait to return...

On the plus side we had a frontal seaview room with wonderful views across the pool area and out to sea. The room was small with little hanging space and just a few shelves and 2 small drawers. We had a good fridge, safe, air conditioning and kettle. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom had a walk in shower. The balcony had 2 chairs and a table and a wall mounted clothes dryer and of course the beautiful view. Sun rises in front of the hotel but has moved away from the balcony by lunchtime. The room was beautifully maintained by the lovely cleaning ladies
The pool area was well laid out and well maintained with a lifeguard there until 6pm. Plenty of beds so no need to rush.
On the minus side the eating area was very disappointing, reminded me of school dinners, a lot of noise and banging of plates, the area was too small to accommodate the number of guests with queues for food and not a relaxing time. I found the selection poor for a 4* hotel.
The new Beach Club has replaced what I believe was a good entertainment area in the past. In our 11 nights here it was virtually empty day and night, I don't know who thought that Cala Bona was a Beach Club catchment area. Because of this we had to leave the hotel every evening and spend our money elsewhere. There is no bar area so if you bought a drink in the hotel the only seating area was reception!
As there is music in the Beach Club from morning until after 11pm the frontal room balconies at that side can hear this boom, boom, boom beat all the time.
A note to management your info on the Beach Club says come and watch the sun go down, you would have a hard job as it goes down behind the hotel and it's not open for sunrise which is beautiful.
As others have said all the staff we met were very nice but because of the food, eating area and new Beach Club we would not return.
The Atolon is a lovely small hotel. Spotlessly clean with friendly and helpful staff. The pool area is beautiful and we never had an issue getting sun loungers together (there were 6 of us). Rooms are spotless but very compact with very little storage - it didn’t bother me but the space could have been better used to house shelving / draws rather than a desk that was quite pointless. Also a kettle was provided but no tea/ coffee/ milk?
The restaurant could be a little hit & miss.. a very good selection at each meal time, and generally very good quality, but some food going cold - needs heat lamps to keep cooked food warm. Staff struggled to keep tables set and get them cleared. Staff carrying worrying amounts of dirty crockery over a potentially slippery floor - maybe invest in a couple of trolleys to save your workers’ arms and to avoid any incidents!
My overall take is that the hotel is not quite sure what it’s aiming for. The beach club was usually empty, didn’t serve snacks and it was a little pretentious on what was “allowed” there. The demographic I saw in Cala Bona generally isn’t the Bali bed / house music /beach club type of cliente. They’d be better off having a nice little snack bar, sack off the Bali beds and increase the seating - also change the style of furniture as the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable! Santigo (?) is an asset to the hotel and is always happy & smiling.
So yes I’d certainly recommend the hotel but I do think some parts could be improved.

The food in the restaurant was very good. Not always hot, unless you queued for a freshly cooked meal, but lots of choice and varied. However, there were a lot of queues - the hotel was obviously full - and the food display was badly organised, often resulting in one queue getting in the way of another! Quite often the staff were disgruntled when they were asked for more plates, bowls, cups etc which kept running out.
The swimming pool overlooking the sea was a fabulous setting and loungers were plentiful as long as you didn't want the front row. Towels were available for a refundable deposit. But the base beat of the all day long music could be heard all the way to the rooms on the other side of the walkway.
There was also a lack of comfortable seating inside the hotel when the weather was windy or cooler, compared to the amount of people in the hotel and nowhere to sit in the bedrooms other than the bed and a high backed chair. No entertainment in the hotel at all. The reception staff were all helpful and very pleasant, however I wouldn't go back to this hotel.
No one can complain about the pricing for half board here. The food is amazing - breakfast and dinner. A good selection of starters, mains, puddings, ( including salad and fruit).
The staff are very hardworking and pleasant and serve you with a smile. At the tribute band event, every night, there is a shortage of staff. The staff are running round trying to keep everyone happy and serve them as quickly as they can.
The guests staying at the hotel are very friendly.
The pool is right by the sea and is a pleasure to sit at. There are plenty of sunbeds to go around. Some people reserve them with towels, but these are in the prime positions. The pool and sunbeds are thoroughly cleaned every morning and it is kept spotless down there.
The negatives for us were….. small room, two small drawers and a small hanging space. Our bathroom door couldn’t open properly; the door only opened as far as the start of the shower. It needs planing. The towels were very small and had seen better days. We asked for a double bed but ours were two singles pushed together. Also we had a yellow stain on our bedding, but this was dealt with promptly. The rooms were cleaned to a good standard.
If these negatives were put right we would definitely return as outside of the room, Atalon was a magical place.

The rooms in the hotel were nice and clean just needed a bit more storage space for clothes.
Breakfast and dinner food was always served hot and fresh with a good selection each day. Only thing that could be improved is to maybe have a second coffee machine and another chef cooking the dishes as sometimes there was a queue for the freshly cooked dishes.
Came to Majorca a couple of years ago and always came to the entertainment this hotel had in the evening including an ABBA tribute and Blues tribute. However there is now no entertainment on any evening which is a major loss as that is why we booked this hotel for this year. The entertainment space has been turned into a beach resort which you have to pay 25 euros for the beds for a day!
All in all the hotel was lovely but please bring back the entertainment as it is a massive loss!!

Stayed in the main block and definitely recommend the sea view rooms for stunning views and sunrises. Rooms are clean and minimalist.
The quality of the food is top notch, with show cooking and chef’s tasty recommended plates at dinner. Such a change from boring buffet food. Thanks to Augustine, the chef brothers and their staff for the amazing food.
As others have suggested, the restaurant can be a little tight on space at peak times and I felt that tweaks to the food layout could help.
No rush for sun beds around the pool; there were plenty. There was also the option of using the premium sun beds at the hotel’s Kaafu beach club during the day at a supplement. The charge gave a large credit against food and drink purchases. There was no additional charge to use the comfy chairs and tables at the beach club. Thanks to Tony, Santino and their colleagues for friendly and efficient service that you don’t get elsewhere.
Some guests were concerned about the loss of entertainment at this hotel, but it depends what your priorities are. It was lovely to sit in the beach club in the evening, enjoying the background music and the sound of the waves.
If you want a relaxing holiday with great food and fantastic views, this hotel is for you.
After originally booking bed and breakfast we decided to upgrade to half board as it seemed such a good deal. We did expect to still go out and eat some nights but the food was so good we dined in the restaurant every evening.
Our room was in block 2 on the opposite of the road to the main reception building. We had a lovely sea view and also view of the promenade so great for people watching too. Our room was basic but spotless and I found storage ok. I did take some hangers from home although there were plenty there .
The room had air con which we used a couple of nights but mainly we had the balcony doors open throughout day and night.
Staff were friendly and helpful and always on hand .
The pool and the sea view really make the Atolon very special and the beach bar with comfortable seating was perfect for chilling and watching the sea.
We came in half term and although this was not an adult only hotel there were very few children at the hotel as if I’m honest it wouldn’t really appeal to children and I’m sure there are plenty of other hotels in the area more geared up for families.
We went to other hotels and bars for entertainment in the evening which wasn’t a problem.I would 100% recommend Hotel Atolon for a relaxing quiet chilled out holiday at a good price .
