We left the Uk and arrived at the Serrano Palace on Friday 16th July. The hotel had only just opened the previous day and we had a lovely welcome from reception. Eveline was very friendly and efficient. We received a glass of wine/orange juice and chocolate truffles then made our way to our room on the fourth floor. The hotel was not overly big and you did feel you received a personal service. The shuttle from the airport took over two hours as there were several stops along the way to Cala Ratjada but taxis would have cost £120 one way. We felt the shuttle was much better value for money. Our room was large with a marble bathroom and views of the Mosquito bar which was hardly heard once the doors were shut. The air con did not work properly when we arrived but this was quickly sorted once we spoke to reception and the director sorted it out quickly for us. It took only one day and it was understandable as the hotel had been shut for 18 months. The pool and sun lounge area was well looked after and you received towels in the morning. My only gripe is that some guests would go down to receive their towels and then place them. On their chosen sun lounger and leave them to go and get their breakfast. There was too much of this “reserving” of sun beds when customers then just abandoned them for large portions of the day reducing the choice for other guests. It was not a major issue in the first week when the hotel was only a 1/4 full but became more of an issue in our second week. We resorted to going to the beach which is only a 100 metres or so from the hotel. This got pretty packed too, especially at the weekend. The spa area looked great although the showers which looked very high tech could not be operated and the jacuzzi in the middle of the indoor swimming pool did not work either. Apart from these minor glitches our stay was excellent. Rooms were cleaned daily although I have no idea what the point of a “turn down service” actually was. I have stayed in many hotels around the world but this is a new experience. I am sure I could pull the covers down to get in bed myself without the need for the house maid to do it for me! Must be some element of a top class 5* hotel that is incorporated into their service standards. The staff are what made the experience excellent, they did excel at making you feel very welcome and as we were the only English speakers in the hotel and the resort chatting to the staff in the evening made our day. Sabrina the director made us feel very welcome and was very effusive. She chatted to all guests on entry into the dining room and is an asset to the hotel. Food at breakfast was excellent with huge choice ranging from bread, cheese, hams, cakes, local produce, tropical fruits as well as cooked breakfast run by Julia at the omelette station where crepes and omelette were cooked to order. We certainly ate our fill with coffee provided straight away as soon as we sat down. The staff were brilliant and as soon as you ate yiur food and went up to the buffet yiur plate was invariably taken away. All the staff in the dining room looked after us well. Ana was especially welcoming and really made us feel at home. She was a pleasure to talk to. There were two Carmens who were also excellent and the Maitre De ? Was Miguel who was very welcoming and pleasant too. We really felt their warmth and that it was genuine. It felt like a true 5* hotel to us. Piano playing and a guy playing guitar while we were eating was not really our scene but it certainly gave a touch of class to the dining experience. There is a land train just outside the hotel that takes you to Cala Aguilar was was a nice wide beach, it cost only 5Euros return. Cala Gat was a lovely beach though very small and yiu had to be there early to reserve a spot, before 10 ideally. There was a lot of choice of restaurants and bars. Being half board we didn’t really eat but had a few cocktails in the evening. Weather was superb and we felt that Covid was very little risk at all. Face masks and hand gel were given to us on arrival too. We would go back to The Serrano Palace again and although the area was lovely it did seem to be a resort for Germans essentially. Nothing wrong with that but we had very few conversation with anybody at all over our two weeks other than hotel staff. That’s our fault I suppose as we don’t speak German. The staff are what really make the hotel perfect. Some of the aspects of the hotel felt like penny pinching. You ad to pay for coffee in the Espresso machine that was in the room which is a new one for me. There were Balibeds around the pool which cost 15 Euros and a Paradise deck which was on the roof with a large double sun lounger and a small salt pool with parasol for 20 Euros per person. It was sold as being “exclusive” although with another 16-20 people up there it didn’t really feel exclusive at all. We regretted spending the money to be honesty but we only did it for one day. A lovely experience for us and much needed. I was impressed with breakfast and diner choices the food was well produced with great choice. My Dad put on 6lbs while we were away…… I haven’t yet plucked up courage to check myself ! We felt we received 5 star service at 3* prices. Being double jabbed helped us get there and the testing station was just around the corner but was also offered at the hotel for 45Euros. We received a negative test out there two days befire we got back to the Uk and tested negative two days after we arrived in the UK too. Thankyou again Serrano, it is an experience we will never forget and one we will look on with fondness. We had a relaxing time although next time we might look at booking somewhere like Cala D’Or or Cala Millor where English is more prevalent maybe ? Rob and Larry…
We visited Palma last week and on arrival to our hotel we found that they had double booked us. We were then asked to spend two night here at the Hotel Serrano. Our other hotel has also upgraded our stay to half board so we got to experience breakfast and evening meal here at the hotel. On arriving late afternoon on our first day we went around the pool and paid 15 euros to use the 4poster bed as they had no sun loungers left. We only used this for a couple of hours which would of been nice if they had let us have it for half the price but not to worry. The room we stayed in on the 3rd floor was really nice. Lovely big bathroom with double sink and bath. Nice touch with flip flops and robes for our stay. The air conditioning was very good. We had a room that overlooked the pool and It was nice to sit out on an evening. The food was ok and a nice buffet. We had an all inclusive stay at the other hotel which I have reviewed and that was a 4* hotel and the food was nice there then at the Serrano. The food did let the stay down. The restaurant was a little dark, no outdoor seating. The safe were friendly and when we checked in offered us a glass of bubbles and truffle. Lovely touch. Very German hotel and we didn't come across another English person while staying in this part of the island. The room was the best part of this hotel. Nice stay but I wouldn't book any package other than just bed and breakfast. Not far to walk to the front and have meals in the nice restaurants we saw while out. We only stayed for 2 nights so didn't get chance to experience any entertainment.…
Surprice with the 5 star raiting at this hotel. We love to test hotels on the island since we are working with turism. This one was on the list since it was 5 star. Belive our surprice when we found old fashion rooms with uncomfortable beds and pillows. The all include restaurant was a disappointment. The main courses look like they have been there for a while and the chef who cook that evening, over cooked both the lamb and the fish. The staff was really nice and friendly and tried to do their best to make everyone happy.
Good 5 stars hotel, large rooms and bathrooms. Located 20 m from a crowded small beach ( there is a lovely beach ~700m away after the harbour) Good breakfast buffet, a bit less impressed by the dinner one. Room's furniture is a bit oldish. Would be nice if the floor halls would be air-conditioned as well as it can get stuffy... Very nice and helpful staff.
Hotel Serrano is a beautiful hotel close to the beach of Son Moll. This beach is extremely busy and far too small for all the surrounding hotels. Also hotel Serrano can be too crowdy, not IN the hotel, but outside: poolarea too small, no beds available at 11 AM, Germans were reservering their beds already at 08 AM in the morning. The staff is amazing: extremely friendly, good food and nice management. We would not return in high season, but may be off season this might be the right place. There is a terrace on the roof where you can sunbathe without bathing suits...but..there is no sign that this is a - Nude only - location. So you might be surprised by other guest coming in their bikinis while you are lying there.. so beware :/
