Nice location and landscape. The town center is acessible by foot but the road isn't friendly and there is no lighting. Clean room, well maintained, but not much inside, not even a tv. Nice breakfast with good service. Check-in service not so good. The blackouts in the room cover little light. Strong light from the wifi router, had to cover it. Some rooms stay away from the main building and with a difficult acess by car, be careful or you might damage the underside of the car. Expensive for what you get. They place bottles of their wine in the room but even tho the room is expensive they still charge you to taste their own wine.
Hotel occupies a magical spot on the river a mile or so outside of the small town. Pinhao may be the best town in the Douro for a visit. It's home to boat tours (Shorter hour long trips may be a good amount of time, but there are longer ones during high season). Be sure to book ahead of time port/wine tours as there may be no availability if you just show up. Incredible landscape that you come to appreciate as you drive over the mountain and down to the river. Great breakfast. Great terrace for drinks. Great hotel wine tour. There are only a few places in the area to have dinner. The hotel's offering was great. We also had lunch at Taylor's Vintage House hotel in town and that was very good too. If you were to take the train from Porto, Vintage House would be more convenient. We drove, so Quinta de la Rosa was perfect. Super staff. Incredible Port produced by this House (a small bottle in the room is a very nice touch).…
We so enjoyed our overnight at the Quinta. We had a lovely suite with a view of the Douro River. It was nicely furnished and very comfortable. Anna was very helpful and extremely gracious on our check in and very knowledgeable the next morning as she conducted our winery tour and the tasting which included 2 wines and 2 ports. Arriving and departing by train worked out really well for us as the Quinta was a short walk from the center of town.
Visited the winery, restaurant & hotel back min October on a work trip to the region. the rooms are beautifully appointed, service is warm, passionate & knowledgeable. The views from the property are stunning. The restaurant is excellent with superb food & wonderful wines. breakfast each morning was of a very high standard, beautiful fresh breads, pastries, preserves & honeys. I really hope to visit the property again in the future. Oh and the wines & ports are superb
We were fortunate to get one of the newer rooms with an amazing view of the Duoro River. The room was well appointed and quite comfortable. The restaurant is first class with interesting entrees and an outstanding staff. We did the "chef's special" dinner. This included an array of shared dishes and was remarkable. The winery tour was very informative and the tasting was a delightful experience.Unfortunately we did not get to participate in the grape stomping event. It looked like great fun.Truly one of the highlights of our trip through Portugal.
