Superb location and hospitality: bed, breakfast and staff outstanding. The hotel has a very comfortable living area with chairs and sofas where you can seat and calmly read your book. "The" place to explore the region.

We had a less than perfect stay here at the end of October. The hotel itself was lovely. The grounds are just beautiful, the rooms well cared for and nicely appointed, and the breakfast very appealing. It should have been a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting but as noted by a previous poster the air conditioning was not working...

We stayed for two nights and just loved it. The room was great with a fabulous view over the Douro River and the various tour boats which are based in the town, not the least being the hotel's beautiful wooden river cruiser that looked to be about 65 feet long. We didn't have time to check out the river cruise...

Nice hotel. Reasonable service. Good location and accommodations, but for such an expensive and exclusive hotel, not having a working air conditioning service, with temperatures over 25/27 Celsius is unacceptable!!!

We were traveling around and came to this lovely spot and hotel. What a delight - such a charming hotel and staff. Dinner was great/ Everything was perfect apart from the fact that we could not stay more than 1 night. The Douro is marvelous and we hope to come back sometime.

From the majestic balcony view overlooking the Douro to the large and well-appointed room and superb meals, we felt like royalty visiting our country estate. The peaceful and quiet setting guarantees a restful night's sleep. The small town is quaint but is not meant for tourists. Stay here while visiting the port-producing region, seeking some serenity or making a romantic...

Lovely boutique hotel. Very high quality. Originally set up by Taylor's Port, and then later taken over by a hotel group. Now Taylor's have taken charge again and it is back in the hands of a team who really care about quality and the best hospitality. The staff are clearly very proud of the hotel, and are excited that it...

We only stopped one night as part of our tour around Portugal. The hotel is elegant and has great views over the Duro. Checkin took over 30mins. We were given a glass of port while we were told to wait while they sorted out the paperwork. I think they forgot about us and I went to remind them after 30...

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the Douro River Valley. My room was beautifully done, quite large and had a terrace and an amazing view of the river. Many nooks and crannies indoor and outdoor at the hotel for relaxing and visiting with friends.

This hotel is located right on the river with amazing views. The rooms are very comfortable & the staff friendly. However we found that English is not really well known by all the staff, which caused a couple of misunderstandings. The breakfast was really good.
