Great hotel in a great location. The Douro river is just great, the view from my hotel was just fantastic, breakfast was tremendous also. Great experience in this beautifull region with lots of things to do. Enjoyed the stay here.
Having arrived from the US in Madrid and then driving to Pinhao, needless to say we were a bit tired. However, the warm welcome (with port) and a brilliant dinner set us up for a relaxing enjoyable stay. The staff was very pleasant and helpful....More
A hotel with amazing views of the Duoro - this is the place to stay in the area. Ensure you have a river facing room & it is sublime - the sunsets are to be enjoyed, glass of port in hand on the balcony. The...More
Nice but overly fussy and over priced. The basics were ok: room clean, comfortable, good location. But sometimes it's the small things.
Being tired from a long day, it was too long a walk to a decent, rated local restaurant and the high prices...More
This hotel is quite simply superb in every way. The staff are marvellous, the rooms beautifully appointed and wonderfully comfortable, and the food in the restaurant is sublime - the chef is incredibly talented. A truly wonderful experience.

You can take the train back to Porto which takes about 2hours for very little money. The station is at the back of the hotel. In fact if you are staying at the hotel you have to walk across the train line to get into the back of the hotel. The train station is amazing with fantastic tiles - take your camera. I don't know about a boat back but it can't be as good as the landscape from the train. You can do a boat trip up the duro outside the hotel for 2-3 hours which is interesting. Hope this answers your questions. The village is very friendly and they all provide good wholesome food.
