This was a highlight of our trip around Portugal. It has just been very nicely refurbished and is in great condition. The beds are new and comfortable. The buffet breakfast has lots of choice and is great quality. We loved it.
A hotel as if its a daydream, beautiful view, very welcoming staff, nice pool and garden, good food, i guess best in the douro vally. I can only recommend it, its worth the money! The rooms are so nice and large, the bed is extremly...More
We were in need of a place to relax after a 3 week driving tour. This certainly fitted the bill, quiet, peaceful, helpful staff who had a good knowledge of local wines & ports. The food is excellent, the pool area & grounds well maintained...More
We stayed for two nights in late June 2017. Hard to resist this hotel if you are looking for an upscale and comfortable place to do your port drinking in the Douro valley, though there is nothing especially Portuguese about the building itself – it...More

You can take the train back to Porto which takes about 2hours for very little money. The station is at the back of the hotel. In fact if you are staying at the hotel you have to walk across the train line to get into the back of the hotel. The train station is amazing with fantastic tiles - take your camera. I don't know about a boat back but it can't be as good as the landscape from the train. You can do a boat trip up the duro outside the hotel for 2-3 hours which is interesting. Hope this answers your questions. The village is very friendly and they all provide good wholesome food.
