Hotel is in a beautiful location, if you like your holiday extremely quiet. Pool bar not open due to wind, which meant a trek up to the terrace bar, where you couldn't purchase ice cream. The pool itself is nice and large but baring in mind the average age of those round the pool was 50 plus the need for incessantly loud club style music which was played all day was really annoying and spoilt most days by the pool. Breakfast was a lovely although there was no English breakfast tea. Room was clean and maids came every day.

An older but very charming hotel. We’ve stayed twice now and will stay again. Lovely pool. Food 7/10 We will book just b&b next time as there are many local eateries that are not too expensive. Machico is lovely and makes for a great base with easy bus options to many other places and walks.

I stayed here in April 2019, the hotel was quite enough as it was early in the season, however, the staff where very nice and the views from the hotel were great. The rooms were very spacious. The breakfast was plentiful. On the first night, I was disappointed in the restaurant as most of the main dishes had cheese in it, however, I explained to the staff that I had an intolerance to cheese and it wasn't a problem, they requested the main dish was main from fresh just for me. The following night there wasn't as many dishes which had cheese included in them - very impressed.

This hotel is nothing too outstanding, but is a very good hotel. One of the only ones in the area, it is good for families, couples, or solo travel. Pool was nice and relaxing. Food was ok, breakfast could have been better but I enjoyed it (when I woke up in time). Staff were helpful and kept the room clean. Nice views from balcony. Only issue I would raise is some rooms can seem rather dated, however overall this is a great hotel in a nice area and I would recommend a stay here if you are interested in visiting Madeira. Bus stops into the city are nearby, as well as a sandy beach, bars, fish restaurants, and taxi ranks.

Objectively there is not much wrong with this hotel, as hotels go. I stayed here because my bf wanted to go diving (which he did at azul diving center and thoroughly enjoyed) and this hotel was recommended by the diving staff, as it was also an easy pickup location. If it wasn't for that I would have never stayed here. The building is quite prominent in the town's landscape and I think it is a shame they got a permit to build it. The view from the room was nice. The breakfast was ok (but not great). The staff seemed to be a bit on the grumpy side, but not offensive. The guests were a bit older on average and that also set the mood. So, all though the hotel is ok (albeit ugly) I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to go here, until they reach their 70s...
