Loved my holiday in Madeira and the apartment was huge, well furnished and with everything you need. Just perfevt! I will be back :) I was travelling on my own but the apartment is big enough for a family. Lots of options nearby too to eat and hotel food was very good. The breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the Atlantic. It is just an amazing atmosphere :)

It is just as fantastic there as you can see in the pictures! A breathtaking view from the terrace, which you can already guess when leaving the room. Outside the room, palm trees grow and the lizards scurry over the wall. The room was super clean and was cleaned daily, was very cutely decorated and equipped with air conditioning. Most importantly, the staff, from the maid to the waiters to the reception desk were all incredibly friendly and cheerful. At the reception we got bus schedules, booking tips that turned out to be cheaper and better than my internet research, even a rental car on favorable terms and without needing a credit card, we were organized and provided from the hotel. From the hotel you can rent a car very quickly anywhere on the island but also by public transport quickly and cheaply in Funchal. You can eat excellently in the hotel, but other shops and restaurants are within walking distance. There is also a diving school right in the street. We enjoyed our holiday there very much and keep the people at the Inn and Art in very good memory. My daughter and I can recommend the warmest of hearts!

We booked an beautiful double room in the main building at the cliff, but instead were put in an awful delapidated apartment a few hundred meters from the hotel in a residential area. The bathroom smelled of sewer, the boiler was so small that you could fill the bath only half, let alone have 2 people enjoy a hot shower. Plumbing for the bath consisted of plastic tubes attached to the outside of the tub, which took hours to drain. The gardenview we booked actually consisted of a view at a parking, which was maybe understandable because we did not get the room we booked. The management blaimed booking.com. If you book with them, you never know what you are going to get, the lady explained.
Although the main building is beautifully located and decorated, these apartments are dark, barren, not decorated at all. We think the management sell all their beautiful rooms twice and put half of the guests in the other complex.
Breakfast was mediocer at best. The coffee was tepid, factory produced bread and croissants and if you asked for an egg, the lady complied after a deep sigh. Towels were very old and thin.

We stayed at the Inn and Art for 3 nights for £10 a night following a special promotion at hotelconnect.com.

We were given Room 1, which is a self catering mezzanine building set apart from the main complex. As far as we can tell it also house several generators for the hotel, which hummed gently 24 hours a day. As far as self catering went, it was equipped with a hot plate,a pan and a coffee machine.

The hotel itself is ideally situated on a cliff top side road within the quiet Canico do Baixo district. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The cliff top terrace is a fantastic place to eat or drink, and the food served is excellent. Unusually for Madeira the Inn & Art has an extensive vegetarian range.

Canico do Baixo itself is not as busy, and consequently not as well exuiped, as Funchal, and suits travelers looking for a quiet seashore retreat.

We had a wonderful week here. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The receptionist personally, and without prompting, gave us plenty of information when we arrived about local amenities (markets, restaurants, buses, etc.). She also suggested excursions which they would organise and book on our behalf if required (we did not do this because we had hired a car). Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day, and a tap that became faulty was sorted out within a couple of hours. This is a lovely private hotel. The locality is a pretty and quiet residential area, with several larger hotels with restaurants within a few minutes walk. The Inn & Art restaurant was high quality a la carte, obviously an excellent chef. But best of all was breakfast on the clifftop sun terrace - very peaceful and relaxed, stunning views to the Islas Desertas, and at one particular table a couple of cute little lizards cleaned our plates! We definitely would like to return. A&GA

We had dinner at the restaurant about 18 months ago and on our latest visit to Madeira we wanted to go back. The restaurant is set on the cliff edge overlooking the sea and the staff were very friendly and helpful-just like our first visit. We ordered lamb and steak on the stone and the presentation of the food and the taste was excellent. A truly great experience and evening which we will repeat on our next visit.

Hi there Although we didn't stay at Inn&Art we went there to eat numerous times this July and would thoroughly recommend. Although we travelled as a big family and not everyone felt the same so can understand the mixed reviews this place gets. A few tips: - visit at lunchtime, it's quiet the views are fantastic and staff more attentive. The food is tasty and looked clean and well presented - in the evenings it gets popular with sunset so is busier etc. Canico is a lovely area to stay in and there are a few restaurants and beaches nearby to walk to but would recommend a car as the island is so lush and beautiful it just needs to be explored. I hope this helps - Madeira is beautiful island you won't be disappointed.
