Hotel is traditionally decorated but is well maintained and immaculately clean.
We visited with our 21 month old so needed a travel cot. There was plenty of room for this and the pram in the room, plus 2 suitcases!
I have never known so much storage in a hotel room. Plenty of wardrobe space and coat hangers plus large drawers.
Great dressing table and Mirror. There are many comments about only one plug socket but for me it was perfectly placed by the mirror so I could do my hair. We didn’t have a problem with just one socket and it was a great excuse to digital detox for the holiday
Bathroom was good size with bath and an over bath shower which was good. Like everywhere it was immaculately clean.
The swimming pool is brilliant with a waterfall feature. There is a shallow splash area which was brilliant for my little boy. Again it was well maintained and cleaned. You also get use of sun beds on the beach which is a minute away
We booked breakfast and evening meal, as we visited during the pandemic it was table service. Food was plentiful and tasty, there was a good selection. We only had dinner a couple of times as it was served too late for our little boy (our fault not the hotels as he likes to eat before 6)but we did eat in the bar a couple of times instead. It was amazing value for money and my little boy absolutely loved the lasagne, it was delicious
The hotel is family run and they work tirelessly.
I’m so glad we picked Harry’s for our holiday
The rest of the hotel was clean too, though I think the emphasis is more on the bar and cafe than the hotel, there is no comfortable place to just sit without having to buy something, again we ended up going and sitting on the beach. The hotel also seems to very much favour the German tourists, of which there were many The pool and pool toilet was kept clean and tidy. The pool is a small, shallow family pool, suitable for smaller children but not teenagers and there is a distinct lack of sun shades, the ones that are there are not moveable, so you cannot sit comfortably all day without having to constantly drag your beds around or trying to move. Also no pads for them so you are on hard plastic. There is the usual reserving of beds all day without anyone at them so trying to move was pretty impossible, we actually found the beach better to sit, though massively objected to paying the 15eur a day for the pleasure.
Half board was frustrating and I didn't think value for money and I am not a fussy eater. You had to select the day before one of each. from a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains, to be fair if you were in the mood when you actually eat them, they were not too bad, but these were adults meals not children's, You have the option to order from a selection of other easy to cook items, omelette, pizza, chips, chicken and we didn't find out until near the end of the holiday, can be tailored (sort of) to your liking, for example you can ask for toppings on your pizza. This was very definitely of lower standard than was being server in the cafe, we received a dry burger, no bun or anything, just the patty with some chips, vegetables were limited and only 1 1/2 hours to eat. Wine was terrible quality. All in all I'm very surprised this hotel is offered by Jet
What a great week, having read some reviews I was a little hesitant but with an open mind and spotting a few cultural and language issues that I suspected had led to some experiences in other reviews was optimistic.
The hotel is a family run hotel on the main tourist strip, two roads back from the beach a 2 minute meander at most.
The ground floor has a bar opening in to the strip with a good choice of food and drinks at competitive prices.
The staff are friendly and do their best to make everyone enjoy their stay, and try to speak to customers in their home language.
Meals were lovely, fresh traditional meals, a lovely pasta or soup starter a main from 3 choices and a desert.
Breakfast has a fresh continental feel of eggs cheese and meats, fruit and cereal with bread to toast and lovely espresso if you want milk go for cappuccino or macchiato and remember in Italy if you ask for a latte you are going to get warm milk.
The rooms as mentioned are a little tired but the beds are comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean;
There is a fee for air con €70 for a week, however it runs all the time and you also have vented shutters over doors and windows so could leave a breeze while keeping secure.
There is one plug in the room so bring an extension lead for chargers and there is a fridge for water and pop.
There’s no kettle, we brought one but didn’t use it as the expresso was just too good to mess my palette with some instant coffee.
Venice is only a short trip away about €21 per person, the tabbaci on the opposite side of the road from Harry’s sell tickets, and the bus runs on the road behind, look for the church with the sweeping roof with an angel and catch the number 5 bus.
All in all a great Holiday and a great place to stay. I would be happy to revisit.
We new it was 3 star half board was cheaper when we booked than b&b. Therefore we didn’t mind if we missed meals.
The staff and owners were great. The hotel itself is dated but very clean. If you are at the front on main drag it’s very noisy till about 12am and then in the morning from 7 ish bin men & road sweeper, saying that the streets were clean to.
Hotel in good location nears restaurants shops & cafe/bars. Beach 2 mins away and clean to, x for 2 beds 1 brolly €15 quite steep but normal of Italy. Air con € 70 for the week.
Room dated but spotless. Food just ok for us, breaks, poor bread, only marmalade no other flavour jam , ham, salami, cakes either prunes or mixed fruit, coffee awful, scrambled & boiled eggs no bacon. Evening meal ordered night before x2 choices for each course, but if you ordered steak & chips that’s what you got , no veg, no gravy or sauce, so we got fed up of it after a few days. Would rather be room only .
Seemed to be lots of older couples returning year after year.
Few things going on while we was there. And
Venice was the main attraction and was great. Tickets from tobacconist €26.50 pp for a 24 hour ticket to use any bus or water taxi/ ferry. We went to Burano also & is a total contrast but lovely.
Will go to Jeslo again but room only or self catering, as food available in abundance & fairly priced.
Enjoyable holiday
The bar area was a busy area with premier league football and Italian football. There was also a karaoke evening which was great fun. The pool area was in a great location a little sun trap with plenty of sun beds. The beach which is a two minute walk across the road has showers and toilets. My only moan is the €15 cost of two sun beds for the day from the hotel. We never used the hotel A/C or Wi-Fi. I would recommend a stay at Harry’s it’s location is perfect for bus to ferry for visiting Venice tickets from shop across road. Supermarket next door which is perfect for snacks and water also beers for your room fridge. We will be back thank you Harry’s for a great vacation.
Harry's has a stretch of beach a few hundred feet away along a quiet street. You can pay €15 per day for an umbrella and two beds, or €70 for the week. This gives you a numbered bed on a beach with calm waters and beautiful sand. Air con (which I would recommend) is available at cost. We also had a fridge but didn't unlock it, so don't know what the procedure is. Rooms are cleaned daily, scrupulously so, and it's a quiet building in and of itself. The pool is nice, clean, with plenty of beds available.
Close to the hotel is a supermarket, an ice cream bar, a newsagent (which is useful for the bus/boat to Venice, where a return trip costs €20.50 pp) and behind the hotel it's a two minute walk to the bus stop which takes you to Punta Sabbioni and the water buses.
We really enjoyed staying at Harry's - Lido is chaotic and spellbinding but it's a calm, knowledgeable hub for a typical stay on the Venetian Riviera. There may be plenty of places to stay in Lido but I'd argue you could pay more and get far less than Harry's offers.
