After a rather scary drive up the hill a paradise opened itself to us! Rustic apartments with old charm and space for large families or groups. Postcard views from all the windows and a tranquillity that is rare nowadays. We did daytrips to PISA, Florens, Sienna and San Gimignano and returned in the evening for the meals in the apartment.... We traveled to Italy to see my sister. We rented out the entire B & B for 10 days. It was awesome. The hosts were incredible. We had a party for 21 people and the owner found a chef and menu and it was perfect. She is a creative chef and breakfast each morning was filled with home baked goods,... More

The scenery is stunning here, so if you're looking for classic Italian countryside look no further. Think rolling hills, olive trees, grape vines and bees and butterflies feeding on lavender. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, if perhaps a little over-precious about things not being broken (look out for the lecture on how to open the windows!). The amenities... More

We stayed here for several nights during our honeymoon tour of Italy. It was just perfect! The view from the villa is beautiful. Lots of little sitting places through out the property to enjoy. The hosts, Silvia and her husband Luca, were very knowledgable about the area. She arranged a cooking class for us and another couple where she taught... More

My partner and I stayed here for three nights at the start of our Italy trip. The price was exceptional for the area and great value for money. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms but was perfect for a couple. Good bed, nice bathroom facilities and outside terrace. We also had a small cooking area, cupboard store and... More

Sylvia & Luca warmly welcomed us in their magnificient agriturismo near Lucolena. The view over the Tuscan hills is magical. The rooms are tastefully furnished with a nice private terrace for each of them. We enjoyed spending time in the many shared spaces like the pergola or the swimming pool. It was an enchanting stay.

Love our hosts Lucas and Silvia, as well as their beautiful girls who play with my son all the time. The butterflies, flowers, and tranquilizing environment, the historic farm house all added to an unique experience for the whole family. Our 3 bedroom on the 2nd floor are perfectly equipped with a big oven and all cooking utensils, making it... More

My wife and I stayed at La Ghiandaia for 5 nights during our extended Italian honeymoon. Silvia and Lucca were amazing and gracious hosts who always took the time to talk with us about the history of the property and region and to provide perfect recommendations for things to do, places to eat, etc. The property and grounds are beautiful... La Ghiandaia was a perfect destination for our spring trip to Italy. The farmhouse, now divided into apartments, is very beautifully restored. Luca and Silvia were gracious and kind hosts. The wine and food they prepared were delicious and we also appreciated cooking for ourselves in our apartment. Coming from Alaska still under lots of snow, the morning sun on... More

“Apartments: In May it's still not very hot here. While temperatures in daytime may rise to 20-something, its COLD in the evening. The building is made with very thick stone walls, keeping the summer heat out. There is very little and extremely expencive heating in the apartments, you don't want to use that. Bring a pair of wools socks, a proper jacket, and a pyjamas if staying that early in the year. I guess later in the summer it will be a bit warmer inside. Don't let it scare you off though. The place is well worth an extra pair of socks in the suitcase. Some apartments have decent kitchens while some just have a kitchenette. They also vary a lot in size and some have steep stairs, so consider these things before choosing your apartment. They are all very nice, and all are furnished with Silvia and Lucas own things, inherited things from their families etc. If you want all IKEA- go elsewhere.”
