On arrival, we headed to the restaurant for a bite after a long day of travel. The restaurant was closed and not to open for a couple hours for dinner. Gabriella, part of the staff, said to please sit and she would make us something to eat anyways. She created a beautiful spread of food and made us feel so... More

Fabulous hotel, elegant rooms with all the amenties, even the less expensive room in the farmhouse had a small kitchenette hidden in an armoire, high-end (but small) bathroom and large bedroom with antiques. Our bed was VERY comfortable. Outside our room was a beautiful patio with tables for a picnic and a view. They only sell red wine. If you... More

We traveled around central Italy for 2 weeks staying most places 2-3 days. We wish we had stayed here for many more days! We stayed in the Sangevese room and it is wonderful. It is old world charm with updated amenities. The view is fantastic! We took advantage of a nearby courtyard for time with our traveling companions. Dinner on... More

We stayed here 4 nights in the room named Sangiovese. Staying here allows you to experience how the wealthy lived during the renaissance era - with today's modern amenities. We loved walking through the large Villa to get to our room. There is tennis, ping pong, a pool table, snacks, coffee and an open bottle of wine. We had lunch... More

A wonderful Tuscany villa it a secluded location 10 minutes from Greve city center. The rooms are fun and interesting. Ours was on a top floor of an original stone building, our friends room was originally a kitchen with the old stove and sink in place. The rooms were updated beautifully with nice bathrooms. The breakfasts are wonderful in a... More

Oh my, I don't know how to describe how truly beautiful this place is. We stayed in an 'apartment', which was a small kitchenette built into an armoire in the living room. There was a separate bedroom and large bathroom, with two sinks. Nice. Especially after staying in tiny rooms in Rome. They've paid a lot of attention to the... More

Vignamaggio is 700 vineyard and olive oil farm. It's a lovely estate near the town of Greve, about 40 minutes outside of Florence. It was the highlight of our stay in Italy. Beautiful grounds, delicious wine, pool, spa, great views -- we couldn't have asked for more. It was just what we were looking for, for our four days in... More

Last year my husband and I were married in Tuscany, Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Villa Vignamaggio! Everyone hear treats you like you are family. The food is amazing, bought in local markets and made fresh daily. The wine and olive oil are made on the premises and served with each meal. Vignamaggio also offers wine tastings and... More

Building on some of the other reviews we have read, we felt on most occasions like our presence was an irritation for the staff. Very simple questions about the possibility of dinner/breakfast seemed to be something which brought out the bad side of the staff. We enjoyed our stay despite this. The place needs to decide whether it will provide... More

Low season means no tourists, limited staff at hotel, and no dinner options. The breakfast is also very basic. The location is beautiful, with several hiking trails on the property. It is also a short drive into town with several restaurant options. The room was freezing, but down comforters on the bed made sleeping comfortable. Overall, a great place to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Half way between Florence and Siena, the estate extends for over 200 hectares in the hills of the Chianti region. Vignamaggio overlooks a countryside landscape, of forests, vineyards and ancient hamlets scattered about on the surrounding hills. At the core of the farm is the Renaissance villa, surrounded by Italian style gardens, which fill the spaces between rows of cypresses, vines and olive trees. A working farm since 1404, Vignamaggio has been cultivating the vines and producing wine for over 600 years. Open to the public since 1987, the historical dwelling offers first class accommodation with rooms, suites and apartments in the estate's farmhouses. ... more   less
