We were there in late September as the harvest had just begun. Everything about the place was more than we had hoped for. The grounds ,Villa, room, wine tasting, breakfast, the views, the walks through the vineyards, the beautiful grapes. Fantastic restaurants! We will be back and back and back!

We stayed a short week at Vignamaggio this summer. It is so beautiful and every single part of the property is an experience. The garden is something you normally see only on pictures, the view is exactly what you want in Tuscany and the whole place is just amazing. The room we had was a nice family room, with the... More

This year was our 6th visit to Vignamaggio, and it is still as wonderful as ever. Set in the hills above Greve, the scenery is breathtaking and has to be seen to be believed. The accommodation is first rate and the staff are friendly, helpful and always willing to make your visit special. They now serve dinner on 5 nights... More

Follow every dream, they say. But in a hectic daylife it becomes increasingly rare that you get the opportunity to do just so. Italian wine has - ever since i was old enough to drink - been a favorit in my book. That i should get the chance to visit one place of origin was never in my mind. The... More

On our way to Amalfi we made a stopover of a few days in this "agritourismo" villa. No doubt about it: a stunning place in the middle of the Chianti region, in a beautiful villa on expanded well groomed grounds with nice gardens in a quiet landscape. One of the 2 rooms we had consisted of a sitting area in... More

On arrival, we headed to the restaurant for a bite after a long day of travel. The restaurant was closed and not to open for a couple hours for dinner. Gabriella, part of the staff, said to please sit and she would make us something to eat anyways. She created a beautiful spread of food and made us feel so... More

Fabulous hotel, elegant rooms with all the amenties, even the less expensive room in the farmhouse had a small kitchenette hidden in an armoire, high-end (but small) bathroom and large bedroom with antiques. Our bed was VERY comfortable. Outside our room was a beautiful patio with tables for a picnic and a view. They only sell red wine. If you... More

We traveled around central Italy for 2 weeks staying most places 2-3 days. We wish we had stayed here for many more days! We stayed in the Sangevese room and it is wonderful. It is old world charm with updated amenities. The view is fantastic! We took advantage of a nearby courtyard for time with our traveling companions. Dinner on... More

We stayed here 4 nights in the room named Sangiovese. Staying here allows you to experience how the wealthy lived during the renaissance era - with today's modern amenities. We loved walking through the large Villa to get to our room. There is tennis, ping pong, a pool table, snacks, coffee and an open bottle of wine. We had lunch... More

A wonderful Tuscany villa it a secluded location 10 minutes from Greve city center. The rooms are fun and interesting. Ours was on a top floor of an original stone building, our friends room was originally a kitchen with the old stove and sink in place. The rooms were updated beautifully with nice bathrooms. The breakfasts are wonderful in a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Half way between Florence and Siena, the estate extends for over 200 hectares in the hills of the Chianti region. Vignamaggio overlooks a countryside landscape, of forests, vineyards and ancient hamlets scattered about on the surrounding hills. At the core of the farm is the Renaissance villa, surrounded by Italian style gardens, which fill the spaces between rows of cypresses, vines and olive trees. A working farm since 1404, Vignamaggio has been cultivating the vines and producing wine for over 600 years. Open to the public since 1987, the historical dwelling offers first class accommodation with rooms, suites and apartments in the estate's farmhouses. ... more   less
