If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and want to sample a tranquil taste of ‘La Dolce Vita’, then this is the place for you. Although we are not strangers to Italy this was our first trip to Ischia and first overseas holiday post pandemic. We opted for a 7night stay, (June 6th- 13th), half board at the Hotel Le Querce & Spa which was chosen, based on the hotel’s location and the on-line post lockdown reviews we were able to find. We certainly were not disappointed! We travelled with Tui and all transfers were seamless. From Naples airport we took a short coach ride to the Port followed by a ferry crossing to the idyllic island of Ischia which took just shy of an hour to reach. The bus ride from the port to our hotel was a ten-minute trip. Our room was a standard room but very accommodating with a spacious bedroom and bathroom which were cleaned daily along with the provision of fresh bed linen and towels. The views from our large terrace were breath-taking. Breakfast was typically continental and served from the main restaurant. It offered a large selection of pastries & cakes, breads, cheeses, salamis, yoghurts, fresh fruits in addition to scrambled eggs and bacon. There was also an array of options tailored for vegetarians and vegans. Dinner was served from the outdoor restaurant which had a picturesque backdrop to the Mediterranean and provided the perfect romantic viewpoint to watch the sunset. Each night we enjoyed a four-course meal which included a mandatory starter comprising of two dishes, followed by a choice of pasta dish, main course, and dessert. There was something for everyone. The food was exceptionally flavoursome and of a high standard especially the island's classic dish, coniglio all’Ischitana ie rabbit! The hotel’s outdoor pool was a fair size and shared the exceptional views of the Mediterranean. There were plenty of complimentary sun loungers and parasols available alongside a small bar which provided snacks and drinks. The hotel also had a private bathing platform with access to the sea however to get to it you needed to be feeling energetic as it took around 100 steps to reach! Not for the faint hearted. There was also an indoor spa, hot tub, and thermal pool which unfortunately, we didn’t really take advantage of. Getting around couldn’t have been easier. Buses were frequent and the bus stop was right outside the hotel. A singe adult ticket cost 1.5 Euros if bought in advance or 2 Euros if it was bought on the bus regardless of how far you intended to travel. This made it a very cost effective way to tour the island, taking in attractions such as the famous Giardini La Mortell, (the garden museum), Il Fungo/The Mushroom Rock in Lacco Ameno, and the free hot springs located on the Bay of Sorgeto on the island's southern coast near the Bay of Sant’Angelo. The hotel also offered a free shuttle bus service to the Ischia Porto providing if booked at least an hour in advance. Alternatively, the walk to the Port was downhill from the hotel and took around 15-20 minutes at a brisk pace. Ischia Porto was home to some amazing yachts during our stay. There were plenty of restaurants, cafès, bars, and shops and even a park situated at its heart. There were also numerous sandy beaches which could be easily reached on foot from the Port. Castello Aragonese, the medieval castle which appeared as a backdrop in several of the scenes in the film, ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’, was located at the far end of Ischia Porto and took us a brisk 60 minutes’ walk from the hotel to reach. A visit is highly recommended. The dungeons were a revelation, and the roof top gardens were incredibly breath taking. From Ischia Porto we also took a short 10-minute hydrofoil trip to the neighbouring island of Procida. Starting at the main port on the island, Marina Grande, all our sightseeing was done on foot. The port had some charming buildings, and churches and lots of places to eat and drink. It’s easy to see why Ischia is such a firm favourite with the Italians visiting for holidays and weekend breaks. We had a great holiday and would certainly return and pay our friends at the Hotel Le Querce & Spa another visit.

Chose this hotel mainly based on price as was looking for an affordable week away (M-F) with partner. Having read reviews found it appeared to mostly cater for non-UK guests and some reviews (especially from UK visitors) weren’t great BUT I do not understand how anyone can say anything negative about this hotel! We arrived around 11pm and were warmly greeted by a lovely man on reception who checked us in and took our cases to our room. The room was huge, and the view from our massive (shared with next door room) terrace was absolutely stunning! I had upgraded to a superior sea view room and this was well worth it. The decor was traditional but immaculately clean and the kingsize bed probably the comfiest I’ve ever had on a holiday! (And the pillows WOW!) Room was cleaned and bedding and towels changed every day. (Only teeny issue is shower door only opens so far, anyone size 18plus may have struggled to squeeze in.) Breakfast was beautiful and fresh, typical continental, with the offer of fresh eggs/omelette, service throughout very friendly and attentive. The walk to the town/port is only about 15/20 minutes and is a lovely walk, not too steep for anyone with a low to normal fitness level. Lots of beautiful cafes and restaurants in the area and Aragonese Castle well worth a visit. Every time we left/returned to the hotel we were welcomed warmly. The hotel was very quiet when we visited (end May) we saw no more than about 10 other guests, so the pool was also lovely and quiet with plenty of beds available. (I’d worried after reading about needing a swim cap, but just wore a baseball cap in the pool and no one commented.) We had drinks in the bar one night and they came with delicious warm mini-pizzas. (Around €6 for 2 beers so fantastic value!) We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on 2 nights and the service was exceptional - we’re a young-ish couple but I really liked the slightly formal (but incredibly friendly!) dinner service. All staff were very polite and very attentive at all times. There’s no price on the menu displayed at the restaurant entrance, and I’d struggled to find menu or price online before our visit, but we paid €45 for a 4 course dinner. Which for the quality and quantity was well worth it! The house white was also incredible. Overall an absolutely fantastic hotel, I would definitely return! Don’t be put off by the fact it’s not targeting the UK market, everyone is so friendly - and speaks great English, but they also really appreciate us trying some Italian too! Ischia is gorgeous and so is this hotel!

This was my second visit to Ischia and I had concerns re the pandemic. I need not have worried as the hygiene and safety were excellent and in line with local guidelines. I visited in September and very few people were staying which was a real shame as this is a superb hotel with excellent staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was good, the drinks fine and the arancini served at night when you bought alcoholic drinks divine. Only one small gripe. I was offered orange juice at breakfast and it was mediocre - I was then charged for this at the end of my stay but this had not been explained at the time. Otherwise a great stay. The hotel was just halfway between Casamicciola and Ischia town, only 15 minutes walk. There are beautiful hikes around the island, all easily accessible from the hotel. Would definitely return if staying in Ischia.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The hotel is ideally situated a short drive (or medium walk) from the town and ferry dock. It has fantastic views, and the staff are very friendly. We opted for a superior double room with balcony and sea view. We were not disappointed in any way. The beds were comfortable, and the room, although a little dated, was well appointed and clean. The only meal we at the restaurant was breakfast, however it was well done. The swimming area was another highlight. There is no beach, but the dock extending out into the Med was an amazing place to relax with book. There is also the friendliest older gentleman who runs a small canteen from the lifeguard station that sells beer, water, ice cream etc. The only word of caution; the water is only accessible by a stone staircase that seems never-ending. My wife and I consider ourselves to be fit, and your legs are burning by the top. Make sure you bring everything you need for the day before you go down! I made the mistake of forgetting the sunscreen. Those with mobility issues will have a difficult time. In terms of location, as I mentioned it is a short drive or a medium walk to down. We stayed here a few days, so would spend the day at the hotel enjoying the water or the spa, then walk into town for dinner. The walk from the hotel is downhill and takes about 30mins at a leisurely pace. The walked back, obviously uphill, takes a bit longer, especially after some vino. Finally, we did spend a day in the thermal waters of the spa, which is a great feature of the property. Very relaxing, especially after a marathon stair session from the beach. Overall, we had a fantastic time staying here, and on the island itself. Thanks for the great memories!

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of December, really friendly staff, very helpful. The hotel is well looked after and very clean, big rooms. They were doing some work on the hotel while we were there but it really wasn't intrusive. Great selection available for the breakfast even though being low season there weren't many guest they still kept there standards up! There is a bus stop right outside so very easy to reach the port and also Forio. The private thermal pools are lovely and just what you want for a relaxing few days. Next time I'm in Ischia I will definitely stay again. Thank you for such great hospitality!

Very nice place, amazing view and clean spacious rooms. Staff was very helpful - especially night shift that saved me with wake up call that was not ordered (only early breakfast), but helped me to get to port on time.

I booked this holiday as surprise trip for my boyfriend, after me being in Australia for 15 months on work! and wow what a holiday. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was perfect. We arrived fresh off the boat on the sunday afternoon, had a bite to eat in town and got a little taxi up to the hotel where we were greated with smiles and a very speedy check in. I was suffering from horrendous jet lag, so completely crashed out, leaving my poor boyfriend to fend for himself for a solo dinner. The restaurant at the hotel managed to rustle him up a very late risotto, which was delicious! one of the best risottos I've ever had. After reading a couple of reviews on trip advisor regarding the food, to be honest i was skeptical. But oh how wrong they were, the food was FANTASTIC! Very authentic, tasty, and breakfast was a delight. The room was large, clean and perfect for our stay. The hotel again was the same, very spacious which loads of sun doused areas to relax in, inside and out. The pool area was like something out of a James Bond movie, and the panoramic views were like nothing I've ever seen. Prosecco by the pool is the top tip! The staff at the hotel were so helpful, we had a very late flight on our last day so didn't need to leave the hotel till about 5pm. The hotel allowed us a late check out, then we lounged by the pool most of the day and had some lunch. They then gave us access to a room where we could have a shower and freshen up before we left the hotel. Fantastic service. We will most definitely be back, and are already looking at when we can return next year. Thank you for the most wonderful holiday.
