The food is absolutely amazing. I cannot express this enough. My husband wants me to mention the mimosas and plate o mixed meats was his fav. The thermal pools were interesting, warmer than I prefer a pool but I truly believe there is a therapeutic effect as I have a bad back and didn’t have any of my normal daily discomfort the whole time I was there. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The beds are also very comfortable. We are already saying we would go to just Ischia / San Montano for our next Italy vacation.

Stunning resort and spa from the accommodations and the food to the staff and the ocean views, San Montano Resort and Spa was worth every penny. Our experience at San Montano was above excellent. We splurged on an infinity pool suite for a family of 4 - including 2 boys 20 & 22 years old. The suite provided plenty of space and privacy. The staff was amazing - they remembered us each morning and evening at meal times, and recognized we were with a larger party of 7. Rafaela, Luigi, Vincennes are among the many who helped make our stay so memorable. I highly recommend staying on Ischia and particularly at the San Montana Resort. The spa services were extraordinary as was our 3 night stay.

Having visited the picturesque island of Ischia for the past 6 years, our family’s choice of stay has always been the same — the San Montano Hotel. It’s not just a hotel to us but a haven, a slice of paradise that we return to, year after year. The island itself is a sight to behold. But San Montano Hotel & Spa adds a charm of its own with its sprawling property and exquisite pools. The naturally occurring hot spring pools scattered across the hotel grounds offer a therapeutic experience that is unmatched. The hotel's commitment to providing a hassle-free experience is evident right from the moment you step off the ferry. Their punctual pick-up service at the ferry port ensures you're whisked away to comfort without delay. Plus, their evening transportation to the town of Lacco Ameno is a bonus we always look forward to. And who can forget the serene San Montano beach? The hotel's access and transportation to this beautiful beach further elevates the entire vacation. The restaurants at San Montano are simply top-tier, and there's a special corner of our hearts reserved for Franco's pizza. Authentic, flavorsome, and utterly unforgettable! However, what truly sets the San Montano experience apart for us is the warmth of its staff. The heart of this establishment beats through people like Marco, Vincenzo, and the countless others whose names we wish we could remember. From the moment we set foot in the hotel, the welcome we receive feels genuine and heartwarming. Vincenzo, with his impeccable taste, never misses with his restaurant recommendations. Every member, from the shuttle drivers to the pool attendants, goes the extra mile to ensure our stay is not just comfortable but memorable. It's a sentiment hard to put into words, but each visit feels like a reunion. The staff at San Montano isn't just hotel personnel to us; they've become an extended family that resides in Ischia. For all these reasons and countless more memories we've built over the years, San Montano remains our cherished home away from home. This hotel promises an experience you'll treasure for a lifetime.

I don’t even know what to say, this place is was sooo incredible! From the moment the shuttle arrived to take our bags after a long day of travel, we felt different being here on this wonderful island at the most beautiful resort. The welcome drink of their lemonade squeezed in house from their orchards was a delightful touch. Our room wasn’t ready, (we arrived very early) so they kept our bags and gave us a tour of the property, and had us hang at the healing thermal pools until our room was ready. There is pool service and we ordered beer and gelato. But aside from the beauty, what really set this place apart was the attitudes of the staff. They were consistently accommodating and seemed as if they really invested in your experience. We encountered dozens of employees and they were all the same. We felt very pampered. They made a dinner reservation for us as we checked in and recommended arriving before sunset for a drink on the patio. The sunset was stunning, and everyone came out to watch it go down. The hotel itself is somehow perched on the top of a mountain so there at panoramic views of the ocean and vegetation from everywhere on the resort. The beauty was all around us. We couldn’t stop looking at taking pictures. We had to physically force ourselves to leave this amazing property and almost missed our ferry out! Free shuttle to the beach, where free beach service is included. The beach has a small bar and sandwich/snack shop. Free shuttle to town. Both take 3 minutes to get to. The restaurant is stunning with floor to ceiling sliding glass windows, offering panoramic views of the towns lit up at night. We sadly didn’t have enough time to visit the spa for a massage, but wished we could have! Just stay here!!

This hotel was absolutely amazing and in my top 5 list of all hotels. The staff (Especially Francesco) were amazing. Luckily upgraded to a private suite and it had its own pool and access to the chefs garden. The pools were amazing and so was the access to the private beach. True relaxation and luxury.

This is an amazing hotel , we adored the place ! As mentioned by other reviewers , it is a little piece of paradise from the moment you walk through the doors . The staff are fantastic and really go out of their way to help with anything you need . The suites are beautiful , the Veranda restaurant was really fabulous . A very special mention for Marco - he is a really wonderful host and so much so that we ended up staying here for five nights instead of two that we planned . The location has stunning views , the pools and sun loungers are delightful and the breeze on the mountain top made it a perfect respite from the heatwave . You couldn’t pick a better place to stay ! This is a top class hotel with a great atmosphere , great rooms and brilliant staff . We will be back for sure and we certainly didn’t want to leave ! Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so special and well done 👏

From the moment you arrive at the exquisite San Montano Resort & Spa, you are in paradise. Is it the killer views of the bay and the sea? A glimpse of Capri? Their fragrant lemon groves? The many thermal pools? An incredible spa overlooking the bay? The impeccable service and staff? Marco? It all combines to be the perfect destination for the luxury traveler. Pack your bags now!!!! The hotel arranges for transportation, which I highly recommend from the airport in Napoli to the port and back. Their complimentary Mercedes shuttle is an added bonus for hotel guests, driving to the beach and to the quaint town of Lacco Ameno. I recommend a room with a sea view as the views are simply breathtaking. Breakfast and lunches are wonderful too...and the wait staff are warm and gracious. Exceptional service goes such a long way in hospitality and SM has truly mastered it! We will definitely return here again and highly recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a hidden gem that provides luxury service in the most spectacular setting.

Welcome to paradise indeed! After a very long travel day we arrived in Ischia and the driver from San Montano met us around the corner from the ferry port. Tip 1 - absolutely book the transfer from the hotel, there are of course a ton of taxi’s but the transfer van was newer, nicer, and we knew what it would cost up front. On arrival we were greeted by exceptionally friendly staff with fresh squeezed lemonade waiting for us in the beautiful lobby. Mikaela took us on a tour of the grounds to orient us for our stay, which was appreciated, and the bags were brought up promptly to our rooms. Tip 2 - if you’re traveling as a family and want adjoining rooms book EARLY, this place books up fast. We had rooms next to each other but not adjoining because we only booked a few months ahead of time. For July, think about booking in January. Worth it. The hotel property itself was stunning, the top of the hill that was the Acropolis when the ancient Greeks lived here in the 7th/8th centuries BCE. The two larger pools on the deck are great for sunbathing, but we preferred the smaller ones a deck below. 1, the kids could stand, and 2, there were only a few lounge chairs at each, making for a serene and peaceful experience. Really felt like we were in a private area overlooking Ischia, the harbor, and the volcano that last erupted in 1302. There are a couple of restaurants that you can eat at during the day, one is a little nicer and one is more of a snack bar. You don’t need to dress up for either but my wife preferred the sandwiches at the snack bar for what its worth. The fresh catch of the day at the other was excellent in my opinion. Get the Ischian white wine, it’s award winning and complements both the food and the soak in the volcanic hot springs nicely. In the evenings the chairs looking out over the sunset fill up fast, so if you are looking for that view I would get there an hour or so before sundown to get a seat and have a drink while watching the sun set of the bay of Naples, one of the better sunset views in my travels. If you want to go down to the town there is a car from the hotel that will take you right down the hill, if you would like to venture further afield they have taxis at the bottom of the hill waiting for you. Gennaro is great if you end up getting him and Forio is a fun place to spend a late afternoon/evening. In the mornings the breakfast spread is outstanding, don’t miss it. There is fresh lox, fresh squeezed juices, and an array of other choices, plus you can still order fried eggs from the staff too. The panetto di mandorle is a decadent way to start your morning, but hey, you’re on vacation right? Early breakfast arrivals are greeted by stillness overlooking the scenery accompanied by classical music. Later arrivals will hear the hum of conversation as the tables fill up, but still the same stunning vistas. San Montano does have a deal with the beach club down the hill but there are only 10 spots (meaning 10 rooms, each room gets 2 lounge chairs) since they don’t own the beach club. Once you get your voucher you should be ready to leave within 15 minutes, which leads to Tip 3 - when you want to do a beach day: eat an early breakfast, have your bags ready for when you get finished, and get the vouchers by 8:30 or so. It’s early, but worth it. The heat is not like it is in the US, we have 2 kids (7 and 10) and spent 8.5 hours on the beach because there is not the humidity we have in our area. Definitely worth going early and staying the whole day. The snack bar at the beach does run out of the most popular items, so when you smell them start to cook go order if you’re hungry. The hotel does offer excursions through a 3rd party company and I recommend at least 1 - the tour or Aragonese Castle. Vittoria was super knowledgeable and we learned a ton about the island’s history as she walked us around it. If you are a diver then the bioluminescence tour is expensive but worth it. You’re not guaranteed to see it but I happened to go the day after a storm the night before and it was stunning. I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank Jetsetting Families for their recommendation, San Montano was stellar and we hope to be back!

This place is worth every penny! Amazing views, great staff, very attentive to every little detail. We had problems with our original reservation but they were able to make changes and accommodate us which was really appreciated. We came with our 6 year old who had a blast. The thermal pools are beyond amazing. Breakfast was excellent! Highly recommended. We definitely will return.
