Our stay at Sorriso was okay, but really it's not what we expected and failed to meet our expectations. The island is Ischia is mainly for Italian vacationers, not a whole lot of people spoke English so we struggled to get by on our vacation for the few days we were here. The Sorriso resort is geared towards older Italian families and couples who want to go on a relaxing spa vacation. I repeat, most of the people at this resort were over 50 years old and spoke Italian, and were doing water aerobics and spa treatments. If that is the vibe you are looking for, by all means come to this resort. For English-speaking tourists, I would say skip this place and go to the more tourist-y Florence, Rome or Almafi coast. The reception staff were neither friendly nor unfriendly, but kind of just tolerated us. The waiter staff at dinner were very nice and friendly. Important note: we had to walk several hundred yards to get our room. There is the "main resort" area, and then there is an auxiliary resort area where you have to walk through a neighborhood of random houses to get to the other collection of hotel rooms. When were were walking through to our rooms (which is a long walk from the dining area) someone was washing their car, a family was eating dinner, etc. If you are disabled or have trouble walking, make sure that your room is not in this far away area.…
Currently staying at Sorriso Therme in a room in the off site accommodation. It is excellent and we have a massive balcony from which we can see the main hotel and pool area. The breakfast has a great selection of continental and hot food on offer buffet style. All the staff are very helpful and speak English very well. The dinner is 4 courses which you pre order at breakfast time so dinner service is quick and efficient. We used the spa and had the spa area to ourselves which was excellent and made us feel very safe from the threat of Covid. You can hire wonderful toweling gowns for use around the pool and spa. Covid precautions are adhered to but it doesn’t spoil our enjoyment in fact it makes you feel very comfortable and safe. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and you can travel all around the island very easily I have to say reading some of the earlier reviews I can’t understand the complaints people made because our experience had been excellent…
Amazing hotel. Excellent management and staff. The views overlooking the sea are incredible. Great breakfast. The spa is phenomenal. The hotel is perfect for anyone who wants to relax. They have an outdoor and indoor therme, private therme for romantic experiences, a good gym, great massages. I researched the entire hotel market on the island, interviewed many locals for hotel recommendations and this one was by far the best. It has the whole package for a reasonable price.
On arrival at Sorriso Thermae Resort & Spa**** we (my wife and I) were allocated room number 273 at the reception in a remote - outlying part of the resort. Upon entering the room, we could already smell the smell of dirt and unventilated room. The room is small, the room furnishings old... But what shocked us the most was the bed...old, rickety, the mattress of the bed sweaty, dirty and stained, the upholstery of the bed soaked, stained and visibly very dirty. (see photo) The room had a small "terrace"... The direct view is up the slope, the view to the left is of the sewer lines, the view to the right is of the humming air conditioning unit... The whole terrace was heavily dirty, covered in pigeon droppings, uncleared fallen leaves and sticky dirt (see photo). We didn't even unpack our suitcase and immediately went to the reception to ask for a replacement. But the receptionist kept telling us over and over again (about 10 times) that it was a "CLASSIC STANDARD ROOM" in the four star Sorriso Thermae Resort & Spa !!! There is no other room available... The exchange to a better room happened only after the intervention of two delegates of our travel agencies Fischer and Invia. Unfortunately, only the next day and without any apology from the Sorriso staff ! After a tiring day of travelling, we laid down in that smelly and dirty bed with great reluctance, scattering our own towels and pieces of clothing underneath us... After this very disgusting experience NEVER AGAIN !!! to Sorriso Thermae Resort & Spa****!!! Milan Duck, Czech Republic July 2021 - 30th week…
From the reviews and photos I was expecting a whole different level of service. On our arrival we where checked in by sad and straight faces, not a single smile. Unhappy staff. We where walked to our room where we had specifically asked for separate beds. The room was tiny, dingy and dirty with a double bed that could not be separated. The toilet seat was completely broken and when I sat on it, it near slid off with me on it. We called the reception to fix the problem and housekeeping arrived with an attitude. We then called the booking agent and after a while the assistant manager appeared offering us to move into a room in the adjacent hotel just for the night and promised to show us a couple of rooms the next day to choose from. Not a word of apology. The room we where temporarily put into was better, but still not a 4 star standard. So many beds for the space. The safe was not fixed, no full length mirror. The plug in the bathroom was hanging off the wall and one of the curtains had been removed. The pool area was packed with people regardless of the Covid health regulations. Not a lounger to be had. Dinner was more like a boarding school refectory with fancier tables. Your next meal was to be noted on a photocopied list left for the next day. The next day we where expected to meet at reception at 11.30 and then where shown the rooms after an hour of waiting. Finally got a room worthy of a 4 star hotel. Sea front view and just what we had expected in the first place, we paid €100 per night, the equivalent of almost R2000.00. The pool area remained a crowded and noisy space for the whole week of our stay. We put towels on the loungers in the early hours of the morning to get to lie by the pool the next day. A huge wet hotel carpet was hung over the railings above our room one day and dirty water poured onto our balcony where I had been working with my computer and papers and my designer beach bag was ruined. I called for them to come and dry, but no one ever arrived. On returning in the evening to our room from a beach dsy we found the room was not made up. We called the reception and they offered to send some clean towels which arrived after half an hour. No apologies for the bad service. St dinner our food was brought to us before we even got a chance to order drinks and often recieved them once we had finished eating. If you are looking for a culinary experience this is NOT the place. Sadly our check out was just as unfriendly as the check in and the staff just stared into space as I kindly listed all our mishaps during our stay. The bar cocktails where the worst I have ever had. Definitely not value for money. I will never return to Ischia thanks to this very bad experience. …
The location is special, on the hill, above the sea. Access can be done by car or bus from Ischia, Forio or on the way. Very good thermal water, very good food, nice and warm room. Friendly and attentive staff. Thank you
Arrived at the hotel and was placed in a garden annexe on the site. This room was very tired with damage to the bathroom door clearly the result of a fist at some time and had been poorly repaired.Furniture was tatty nowhere near what you would expect in a 4 star resort. The actual grounds are very nice with a few pools all kept tidy but no staff patrol to ensure rules are adhered to such as the isolated thermal pool which is a quiet area except when kids appear and use like a playground with parents not respecting the rules. We were on a half board basis and quite frankly the food does not live up to the standards of a 4 star. You have a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains after visiting the buffet table.A starter dish of note, pasta with mantis shrimp being poor as it reminded me of the Simpsons episode where homer cuts into a turkey to find it empty. Those on half board can choose to either eat at lunch or evening as you tick which meal you prefer at breakfast.A two tier system appears to exist in the dining room where clearly costlier rooms place you overlooking the sea when dining as opposed to being kept in the back room again as everything it’s all down to cost and what you’ve paid.In our week we had 3 excellent mains chicken, rabbit and pork.If only they could replicate this quality over the week they would get my vote. The fish dishes were ok.Another thing of note was the 20%addition to your drinks prices at the bar should you choose to listen to the evening entertainment. The staff in the restaurant work hard and do their best to swap a dish if not to your liking. My wife had a treatment in the Spa and found it to be good however these treatments are at a cost dependant on the chosen treatment.Overall the location is superb and with some updating these annexe rooms could be worthy of the hotels rating.…
Having booked well in advance (April 2019) so have paid full price, we were disappointed on arrival as to the room we were allocated. It was a good sized room but badly set out. The shutters on the outer side of the patio doors were broken, some missing others just don’t open or close, the net curtains to close over the patio doors to keep bugs out were dirty and had holes in them, the bathroom floor was horrible looking where the surface had come off the ceramic tiles, the shower door was next to useless with the amount of water it let out onto the bathroom floor. I can only speak for this room but it is tired and needs renovating and not what I expected from a 4* resort. Our room was in the main building so not the same gripe that some reviews are complaining about. We let reception know who said they didn’t have anything else but might have something in six days time. Well after six days nobody said anything and we couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of moving everything. That said, we were on a two week holiday. Evening dinner is served between 8 - 9 in the evening which is late enough, then you have around 300 - 400 people all trying to access the Buffett at the same time, no manners no rules, no Patience, noisy is an understatement, hell hole. The food was nothing more that mediocre and boring, a 4* badge it does not deserve. We were informed that this is the first year that Tui have used this resort, I think they should think very seriously about the star rating! The staff great, very helpful and polite. I don’t know how much Tui pay the hotel for our stay but we are not happy. I should have listened to some of the reviews on trip advisor and gone somewhere else. …
We booked a room to find out it was a annex building and was away from the hotel, they are mis selling the rooms by advertising them as all 4* Which no way they are, i wouldn’t give them rooms a 1* if im honest, reading on here i can see plenty of people are getting caught in there trap. after complaining and been moved three times then was told to pay and extra 270€ for five nights. Hotel is great but the entertainment could do with brushing up if im honest though, The Oasis restaurant is very nice which is next door and Nicola the marketing manager was helpful and understanding when we expressed our views to him. Apart from the one or two the guys at reception they don’t smile and it seems your bothering them at all times. Honest opinion....take your hard earned money elsewhere …
The rooms are so far from the main hotel, small rooms, toilet broke, air conditioning broke and the food was VERY expensive. Same yourself some time and money and don’t go. Ps there is a crack head around the corner.
