I spent very pleasant relaxing two weeks in this hotel. The location is great. You can relax at the swimming pool and go to swim to the sea which is nearby. Forio is in walking distance and you can visit the beautiful garden La Mortella which is situated not far above the hotel. The staff is very friendly. There was a great choise for breakfast and pasta for dinner was always very delicious.

We stayed in Santa Maria hotel in Octotber for one week. The weather was still warm and sunny, and the sea was warm also! Hotel is very cozy and clean! Location is perfect, it is on the beach! beach is clean, sandy, there are very nice restaurants around. Also near the hotel there is a grocery store. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day, and it was very good. Tha staff was very friendly, helpful especially thanks for Viola! She is the sunshine of the hotel! She made us feel very special guests there! We had a room on the second floor with the sea view. It worth every penny to pay extra! The mountain, sea, swimming pool, everything was so special for our eyes! Also we had very cozy balcony and it was very nice to spend the rest of the evening there. Thank you for all staff in Santa Maria! We would come back for sure!!!

I was there with my friends , we all did joga and water aerobic there - on second week of June. The weather was still about 28 degree and sunny, temperature of the sea about 22 . The sea is very near of the hotel , you can go there in swimming dress, and poll is right there too and one poll with termal water . I liked the small hotel very much, cause it is very lovely with using of elements from italian architecture. The hotel is about home atmospher created by the interier and by staffs. The young man in reception and waitress were wonderful - mainly Viola, who did still good atmosphere and fun there, and she helped all people who needed it. I would like to return to this hotel one more time.

We stayed at Hotel Santa Maria for 3 days and chose an option that included two what were described as meals ,breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner .I read other reviews of this hotel and initially was put off by the negative reviews but having read the last more recent one indicating 'new management' that was positive decided to take a chance. We had a fantastic view of the beach from our balcony but were disappointed to note that we would have to pay additional fees to have an umbrella etc on the beach .When we did try to hire some there was none available so we could look at the sea from our balcony but not touch the beach. The hotel is like travelling back in time and this hotel would have been beautiful about thirty years ago but it has not been updated since ,still having ancient wardrobes ,doors ,tables and chairs. The overall feel of the place is that it is uncared for. Our room was basic but the walls were stained and the light fitting was hanging by a thread .One lamp did not work and the tv was showing occasional snowy channels . On the first day we had to go out and buy shampoo and shower gel because there was none but shampoo did appear on day two. The air conditioning did work and was an asset and the bed was reasonably comfortable although I am not entirely convinced of the hygiene of the bedding . My biggest issue with this hotel was the paltry amounts of food and child sized portions. What was served tasted nice but a very limited amount .We also had to pay for water with our meals which due to the heat was unavoidable and there was no option of 'tap' water available .In the mornings IN ITALY there was no real coffee available for breakfast and we had to go and buy it at the hotel bar instead which I was disgusted with .No expresso for an ITALIAN breakfast !!!! I was also convinced that the bread we were served at breakfast was from the night before .It was dry and hard .Also at one point the water we bought for our meal was not cold due to a late delivery ,this in 35+ degrees weather . The staff seemed disinterested but were on the whole professional .One gets the impression that they are not happy in their jobs .The only genuine smile we recieved was from our chambermaid who did her best to keep our room cleaned. The pool area is also nice and well maintained . In terms of three stars this hotel is tetering but overpriced for what it offers .It has a lot to offer and a few minor 'comfort' changes such as not charging for water, providing proper coffee for breakfast ,not recycling bread from previous meals and adult sized food portions would greatly improve the overall experience of being there.

Everything about this hotel was horrible. The staff was indifferent and inhospitable. The room had a leaking toilet, no hot water and a broken shower door. The only light fixture was hanging by a thread from the ceiling. The wait staff in the breakfast room could barelhy acknowledge our requests.

Just arrived from a fabulous week in Sorrento, Italy from which I traveled to various sites on the Amalfi Coast. We had so looked forward to staying overnite in Ischia, as we've stayed in Capri in the past. What a bitter disappointment!!! Firstly, the hotel is located quite a distance from the center of town. Secondly, the lobby is acceptable, the beach is right there, but oh boy! The room we were given was atrocious. The corridor had 3 lights of which only one was working. The room was painted bubble gum pink and the walls were decorated by the smashed bodies of insects which seemed to have been killed by years of past guests. The furniture was old, chipped and the veneer peeling away. The chandelier hanging from the ceiling was dropping down and the wires were exposed. I can't speak from personal experience, but this certainly looked like a scene from a "No Tell, Motel". Such was the condition of the room, that though the rate included dinner and breakfast the next morning, we decided not to stay. We did not want to gamble on what we would be served... We were offered another room that was measurably better, but we felt uncomfortable staying at a hotel that was obviously not well managed, clean or frankly very hospitable. We opted to pay for half the rate we were quoted, and left the island instead. After years of traveling stateside and abroad this was the first time a hotel was in such unacceptable condition. A real pity because frankly Ischia is lovely and we would love to go back. So traveler beware of those internet pictures and always keep your options open!

Dilapidated hotel, nothing works, black pillows and mattresses, peeling walls, restaurant worse than the canteen. The only positive note was the very friendly waiters. In 2023 certain structures should not exist! Nightmare holiday, they wanted the balance immediately upon arrival because people would probably leave early and without paying!

I stayed with my family the first week of August 2023, booking 2 double rooms. Starting from the rooms, the first problem we encountered was the cleanliness, absolutely poor to the point of even finding hair between the blankets and in the shower; another problem was the absolutely dated furniture, the presence of a very old telephone in the room NOT connected to any socket; the positive thing that made the room livable was the air conditioning. Moving on to the restaurant, here too the furniture is dated and still 30 years old, the same thing for the poor cleanliness and compliments to the chef for the lack of inventiveness with respect to the menu of dishes, which looked a lot like hospital dishes, with the difference that probably in a hospital we would have eaten better. POOR breakfast consisting ONLY of machines to prepare milk and ONLY ONE croissant per person, with a complete absence of sweets and fresh fruit. Fresh fruit was never even available for dinner. One evening we tried to order a cutlet and chips as an alternative to the 2 second courses they offered as I was allergic to what was proposed; requesting this simple cutlet was a challenge, as in the kitchen they told us that the request had to be made at the reception and at the reception THE OWNER replied that MAYBE it would be possible, but that we would not be sure until the dinner itself: Are we joking??? There is a swimming pool, which is practically unusable unless you go there at 7 in the morning, as at 8 all the sunbeds are already occupied by those who have a room facing the pool and occupy the VERY FEW sunbeds that are available. Oh and don't get your hopes up, the pool is only 1.60m, so anyone taller can't have a peaceful swim. HOT POOL, this is also written, but the real surprise is that it is UNUSABLE and FULL OF SLIM as it has not been checked for perhaps as many years as the structure has !!!!!!! I wouldn't have said anything if I paid little, but for the service I received, given the price I paid, I expect to have a much better service. POSITIVE NOTE for the hotel staff, always kind and helpful; and the location, because it is less than 5 minutes walk from the sea, but this is definitely not enough!
