My wife and I stayed at Il Frantoio for part of our honeymoon, the "relaxing wine country" part of the trip, and it was a wonderful experience. We were the only guests at the time but this only made our host focus more on our needs. The house is clean, lovely, and beautifully landscaped. The dining room reminds one of... More

We somehow failed to confirm our reservation, and arrived unexpected to Il Frantoio. No fear! 4 adults and 2 children received the 3 rooms with private bathrooms very quickly, enjoying a lovely bottle of wine during the wait. The rooms were large, clean, with great views. Meals were fabulous, showcasing specialties of the region. Great location for travel to Pompei... More

I had planned a trip to Italy that included my wife, my Brother and his family. We started our trip from out home base in Platania Calabria. This was my Bothers first trip to Italy and he had several “must sees” on his agenda, Rome and Pompeii were on the list along with my Mom’s families town of Colliano. We... More

My daughter and I visited Il Frantoio Country House for three nights in July. We had an unforgettable experience. Our rooms were large, comfortable, and very clean with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. One of the rooms had a balcony and the other a large patio, where we could relax and enjoy the quiet and the scenery. The proprietors,... More

Ernesto and his family have a beautiful house in a tiny hamlet called Bosco Nr Chiusano in the Provence of Avellino. It is positioned over looking the Apennines and the beautiful landscape dotted with hill side towns and villages and surrounded by olive groves, chestnut trees, vin yards and an agricultural land scape that probably hasn't changed since Roman times.... We arrived at this bed and breakfast and were welcomed with such love and gratitude. The owner was very loving and kind with my 1 year old. He immediately showed us our room and provided us with italian coffee, water and fresh squeezed juice for my daughter. Later, while I meandered around the facility looking for hot water for my... No words in English or Italian can describe how wonderful our experience was at Il Frantoio. Beautiful?, quiet, clean, spacious, GORGEOUS view, DELICIOUS food are a beginning. The best of all was la famiglia Cataldo. Ernesto, Assunta and their children were wonderful; making each moment more special than the one before it. If you want to have an experience that... More

My wife and I traveled to Italy for 16 days in September 2012 for our honeymoon. We had read about the area of Campania, wanting to stay in a rural area for part of the trip for an authentic Italian experience. This was the place to be! After visiting Rome and Assisi, easing our way around with English speaking hotels... More

First a little background: The purpose for this trip to Chiusano di San Domenico was to visit my ancestral home to research genealogy records. My paternal grandparents were born and married here before emigrating to America in 1911. We were very fortunate to find Il Frantoio on an internet search before we left; at the time, it was not listed... More
