I took my mom to Italy for her 65th birthday in mid February. All agriturizmos I contacted said they were closed in the winter, but this one made an exception. It truly was an exception - preparation and upkeep of a single room was required for the two of us. My favorite part was waking up in the morning to... More

We stayed here as part of a self guided trek of Amalfi. We were expecting a country atmosphere and good home cooked food. We weren't disappointed on either count... There was no menu so we were quite excited to see what would would be served up . Both the breakfast and evening meals were gorgeous , homemade and plentiful The... More

Where do I start? We arrived at San Lazzaro after a longish travel from Florence a and the drive up the hill to il Castagno made us think whether the choice was right as we did not have our own car. But the family makes sure u have a lift to the town whenever required. The place is probably the... More

The family was very welcoming. The building is beautifully located with big charactaristic rooms. When you open your window in the morning the mediterranean and the hills are a great way to start the day. From here it's an easy few hours walk to Amalfi. And you can take the bus back after a swim and a glass of wine.... More

This place is truly amazing. My husband and I were hiking the Amalfi coast and Chamina Voyage had booked us for 2 nights at this fantastic agriturismo. What more to say: home cooked traditional italian food, great breakfast, amazing view and the best wine there is. The view from our room was unforgettable. Although we don't understand and/or speak italian,... More

Il Castagno is one of the best agriturismo-hotels we have used in Italy. The hosts are really nice. The atmosphere is unpretentious and you feel at home there. And the food is excellent! We stayed there for 12 days and had all of our dinners there. The place is much used by hikers. Also Il Castagno is listed in the... More

There are many so-called agriturismo's in Italy, but many have nothing to do with agriculture any more and are just countyside hotels. This one is a real one, immersed in the green chestnut forests & vineyards, with great views over Agerola & the Amalfi Coast. Food is genuine local produce and the place invites to relax. Th owners are very... More

We stayed at il Castagno for a week in November, and it was truly unforgettable. The cooking and hospitality is outstanding -- our two little boys were welcomed and loved it. The apartment was compact but totally comfortable. The value wa excellent, particularly the half -board option. We had mentioned our younger son would turn four during our stay. Rosa... More

I was first here in september travelling alone, were only home for a week, then I was right back at Il Castagno this time with my children. We have all been falling in love with this place. It's not just the view, the food, the mountainwalks, but especially the family and Michelle, the nicest little dog you can imagine. Hope... More
