Hotel Tirreno garners praise for its spotless, well-appointed rooms that boast cozy beds, effective air conditioning, and picturesque sea views. Guests have called out the friendly and helpful staff, appreciating the shuttle service and personalized care. While opinions on value differ, with food quality and portion sizes being points of contention for some, many travelers consider the hotel an excellent value.
The distinctive Calabrian ambiance and local liveliness, along with special touches like sweets on pillows, contribute to the hotel's charm. Amenities such as the pristine pool and varied menu add to the positive experiences reported.

What a great place to stay, as everyone has said the staff are brilliant, every one of them from the gardeners, the cleaners, serving staff, receptionist, owners, lifeguards, can’t do enough to help you, they always say hello and always have a smile. Breakfast is continental style with a good variety/choice. Evening meals are served at your table in the gardens or in the under cover seating area. Wine choice is good and reasonably priced, if you don’t finish the bottle they will save it for you for the next day. You can buy lunch at the pool bar, reasonably priced and always looked stunning. Pool area is great always sun beds available when we were there ( no morning rush or sunbed saving here) the on-site lifeguard keeps everything very clean. Beach area is great again with a lifeguard keeping an eye, beach shows would be a good idea, sand gets very hot mid afternoon, good area for snorkelling. Walked to Tropea a couple of times, it’s no to strenuous, also took the free courtesy bus One evening which was great. Used the local trains, easy to buy tickets at a machine in the station, translates to English. We also paid for a trip to Sicily, great drive along the coast road ( felt like being in the Italian job) ferry across, then views of mount etna, long day but worth it. Food at the hotel was excellent, choice of fish, meat or veggie, if you want a really relaxing holiday this is the place to go… if you like techno, techno, techno, then it’s a no..
Thank you all… We will return…

A Big shout out to Stephania and the rest of the team , Very quickly you could see this was a family run business who made everyone feel part of the extended Tirreno family.
All aspects of this holiday were faultless , from check in to departure
The room was large as described and spotlessly clean
Breakfast was varied with a good range of fresh local produce and definitely set you up for the day
The day ahead ... well beach or pool or sightseeing .. or indeed all three !
Fab private beach area with free hotel shuttle transport .. sea temps amazing
Pool excellent never too busy and a pool bar with great selection of drinks and snacks .. The Bruschetta was divine .. nothing was too much for the pool staff we were well looked after and felt immediately at ease.
The Hotel arranges various sightseeing trips .. all very reasonably priced with lots of information available.
Tropea itself - (again free shuttle service during the night) is an unmissable town - a wow moment even for experienced travellers
The relaxed laid back , but professional atmosphere at the hotel was certainly a catalyst for making new friends .. like minded travellers looking for a real peace of Italy and finding it in abundance in Calabria and with the Tirreno "family"
The evening meals (chosen after breakfast) offered a variety of local Calabrian cuisine with good parings of reasonably priced wines.
To conclude .. would we go here again ... YES YES YES

My husband and I spent 12 nights at the Hotel Tirreno at the end of June/ early July in a Junior Suite with sea view overlooking the pool. The terrace was large and well furnished with two ‘deck’ chairs and a small table with two chairs. The retractable sunshade was very welcome in the afternoon and early evening as the terrace was in full sun at that time.
The room was a good size for a couple and had very good storage and a safe although there were no drawers. The bathroom was good and well equipped and the shower had excellent pressure. As is very often the case in Italian hotels, the shower cubicle itself was quite compact. Housekeeping throughout our stay was excellent. Bedding was changed regularly and fresh, high quality towels were provided as required. The standard of cleaning in our room was excellent, floors were thoroughly cleaned every day and bins emptied twice per day whether they needed it or not!
The pool area was lovely, very clean with lots of loungers and umbrellas. It was very quiet for the first few days of our holiday but got gradually busier as more families with children started to arrive. It wasn’t a problem for us but if you prefer the pool to be quieter it may be better to come a little bit earlier or later in the season. We occasionally used the mini bus transfer to the beach but more often than not enjoyed the walk although, be warned, the walk back up to the hotel can be taxing in the extreme heat. We are in our 60’s and managed it no bother.
We stayed at the Tirreno on a B&B basis but had dinner there on a few occasions. Overall the food was of a very good quality and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The mini bus transfers to and from Tropea in the evenings were a real bonus! We ate there most evenings and enjoyed wandering around this beautiful old town.
There is really nothing not to like about the Hotel Tirreno. Stefania and the team are absolutely committed to making your holiday special and in our case they succeeded. We had a wonderful holiday and will return soon. Hopefully at some point an airline will provide a direct service from Scotland to Lamezia. At present we have to either drive to Manchester or, as in our case, fly to Naples and take the 5 hour train journey south to Tropea!

There aren't enough words to express how much we enjoyed our recent holiday to Hotel Tirreno. This was our third visit and each time we have visited we have come away thinking that we could have stayed longer, this time we did but it still wasn't enough! From the minute we arrived we had the feeling of complete relaxation. Stefania and her family and team go out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect and that you have a good holiday, they make you feel that you matter and that it is important to them that you have a good time, everyone works so hard to ensure this. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable and cared for daily by the friendly cleaning ladies, breakfast is varied with lots of choice, and the evening meal, taken in the open air, is like visiting a chic Italian restaurant with wonderful local dishes and wine, there is always a good choice for each course served by friendly waiters and waitresses. All the grounds are very well maintained and clean with lush plants, the pool area is again spotless and sun loungers always available, the pool bar serves lovely drinks and cocktails and a variety of snack for lunch. If you fancy a change from the pool, the hotel runs a mini bus to the nearby beach where there is a private area with sun loungers and parasols, all complimentary - what a bonus! They also run a mini bus into Tropea in the evening so you can soak up the atmosphere in this lovely, bustling town. It maybe would be useful if the minibus went into Tropea during the day, even if just once, as the walk and the steps up to the town are hard going in the heat of June/July and there is no local transport and very few taxis. Parghelia is also a lovely little town within easy walking distance with some very good restaurants.
We were a little bit worried when friends told us that there had been changes from the last time we were there and that building work was going on but we needn't have been, all work had been stopped for the duration of the season and there was absolutely no inconvenience to guests. We are now interested to see what the new build brings. What a fabulous holiday, we hope to return next year. Thank you Stefania and team Tirreno!

We have just returned from a very relaxing week at Hotel Tirreno in Parghelia and we would really like to keep this find to ourselves, but that would be selfish! Our holiday had been cancelled three times due to the dreaded ‘c’ word and we came close to cancelling altogether but we are so glad that we didn’t. This is a family owned and run hotel and it certainly shows in the way that they treat their guests, they go out of their way to make sure that your holiday is perfect, from the minute you arrive you feel relaxed, all the staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble, everyone says hello and greets you with a genuine smile. The rooms are air conditioned, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained and there is a lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers and parasols, in fact it is one of the best pools we have ever seen, it is all immaculately clean and watched over by a lifeguard. There is also a well-stocked pool bar serving drinks and snacks throughout the day either in a shady area or even at your sun lounger. All food is freshly prepared and very good.
Breakfast is buffet style taken either outside under the vines or inside the breakfast room, there is a wide range of hot and cold food that is continually replenished. Dinner is waiter served in the outdoor dining area at night from a menu chosen in the morning. Lots of choice to suit everyone and an excellent selection of well-priced wines.
The hotel also has a private beach area looked after by a lifeguard where there are complimentary sun loungers and parasols, a big plus, and runs a courtesy bus to and from the beach a few times a day. It is possible to walk and takes about 15 minutes but when the temperature is as high as it was when we were there the bus is certainly the best option!
The main town of Parghelia is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, it is fairly quiet but has a few restaurants and bars, the American Bar is the first one you come to and is well worth stopping off at. Nearby Tropea is lovely to visit both by day and night. The walk would take about half an hour, it can get very hot in the day plus there are over 200 steps up to the town so you need to pace yourself! It is well worth the visit though with it’s lovely little streets and shops. At night it is bustling with activity with lots of bars and restaurants for watching the world go by. The hotel runs a shuttle bus service to Tropea throughout the evening.
We really cannot recommend Hotel Tirreno highly enough, the peace and quiet is bliss, it is an excellent hotel and one we will definitely be returning to. The owners and staff put their heart and souls into their jobs and into making sure that everyone has an enjoyable holiday, we didn’t get all their names but if you visit you will soon get to know them.

The hotel is fantastic, it is in such a beautiful location in Parghelia with amazing views of Tropea and the sea. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and can not do enough to help you, nothing is too much to ask for.
The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the beach 6 times a day and into Tropea 4 times in the evening. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and there are plenty of sunbeds on a lovely stretch of sand. The pool at the hotel is large with plenty of sunbeds and a bar serving drinks all day and a sandwich lunch menu. You can also walk to Tropea in about 25 minutes.
Parghelia has a train station which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, from where you can catch a train to Pizzo. Parghelia also has a supermarket and some bars.
The food was fantastic with plenty of choice at breakfast and a waiter served 3 course evening meal.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting and is kept very clean and tidy. The staff at reception booked me a trip to the Aeolian Islands which I would thoroughly recommend. Much cheaper to book direct with the company in Italy rather than through a package tour operator.
I would definitely recommend chosing Hotel Tirreno if you are planning on staying in Tropea, I can not fault it! I have had such a lovely relaxing week at Hotel Tirreno and I would love to return. Thank you to all of the staff for making it such an enjoyable stay.

We spent a week at this wonderful hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There is a great, relaxed atmosphere. Our room was comfortable and very clean, the food was delicious - the buffet breakfast was generous with lots of choice and the evening meals were all typical Italian dishes cooked and presented beautifully. The hotel has a lovely pool, and there is also a free shuttle bus to the lovely beach which has golden sand and a great view of Tropea. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Tirreno, we did not want to go home.

Beautiful beaches, delicious food, and warm people. A place you'll want to return to again and again
It was a little far from the center of Tropea, so the atmosphere was calm and nice.
All the staff were very kind and always very helpful.
You can walk to the private beach about 500m away, but there is a free shuttle bus, which was convenient. The beach is so clear and clean that you can see small fish swimming on calm days. The beach is a mixture of sand and small stones, so if you wear swimming shoes that you can wear, your legs may not hurt.
You can get to the town of Tropea by taxi or by the hotel's own shuttle bus, which runs only at night.
A taxi costs about 10 euros one way. I thought it was OK unless you go every day.
I looked forward to eating at the hotel restaurant every day. For breakfast, we had grilled vegetables such as red onions, zucchini, tomatoes, and mushrooms from Tropea, as well as cheese and ham, which were all fresh and delicious. We also had dinner at the hotel, but a different menu was posted at the reception every day, so we chose one during the day. The food was very delicious every day.
We stayed in a poolside room, and the pool was right in front of us, so it was really convenient for swimming. There was a table, chairs, and even a clothesline on the patio outside the room, so wet swimsuits and towels can be hung there to dry quickly. Next time, we'd like to stay in a room on an upper floor with a view of the ocean.
We went to the Aeolian Islands, a World Heritage Site, on a tour from the hotel, and the boat trip, which took about two hours each way, about half a day, was a nice change of pace.
Hotel Tirreno is a wonderful hotel, perfect for those who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle.
Here, you'll be greeted by warm people, delicious food, and beautiful sea.
We hope to return here again soon.

We spent a week in this wonderful hotel to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. We travelled with TUI but I emailed the hotel beforehand to ask for an upgrade to a sea view room (at an additional cost). This room was so worth the extra cost. Stephanie allocated us room 216, considered the best room because of its fantastic view of Tropea, the sea and the pool. The sunsets from our balcony were incredible. The food at the hotel was excellent and so was the service. The pool is heated to a perfect temperature and very well maintained. We spent most days at the beautiful beach where the sea is the clearest sea I have ever been in. The hotel has a private section on the beach with comfortable sun beds and a lifeguard who is also part of the hotel staff. There is also a very good bar/restaurant at the back of the beach which serves excellent food. The owner of this restaurant is related to Stephanie at the hotel! The hotel has a pool bar which is also open in the evening. We enjoyed drinks after dinner in the bar where we met some of the other hotel guests. Leonardo is a wonderful barman, and waiter! Thank you Stephanie, Dario and all the staff for a brilliant holiday. I hope we can return again.

Family run 4* hotel, very clean and well maintained but not brand new. Very quiet complex with no entertainment and music by the pool, no toddlers. The entire staff, from the manager to the beach boy are extremely helpful and friendly. We had booked a Junior Suite with sea view and 10 days HP. Breakfast and dinner are very good and dinner (3-course menu simple, served) recommended at this price. Shuttle service to and from the hotel's beach which is about 600 meters away and to the city of Tropea are free. Also the sun loungers on the beach. Extremely well maintained beach, water sparkling clean, plastic shoes recommended to get into the sea. In the annex it also has a roof terrace on the 2nd floor. Floor with magnificent views of Tropea and the sea.
