Detailed Reviews
The best time to arrive in Naxos island at the begining of July as there are not many people yet in the island. Pension sofi is a great and affordable accomodation. The owners are very welcoming and always ready to treat you with a smile. The Pension is in a quiet place walking distance from the center of the island. The room was great and one of the most clean accomodations that I have ever stayed at. The owners are here every morning to provide you with a treat so as to start your morning well. Apart from the cleanliness, the beautiful room and location what makes this accomodation so great is the fact that the owners honour their Greek heritage and the Greek value of 'philoxenia' always with a smile. Rena and Thodoris always made themselves available to give us information about the island of Naxos and care for our needs
Great place for couples and families.

+1
Rena and family were fantastic and extremely friendly and welcoming. She contacted me before I arrived to offer free pick up from the port and gave me homemade snacks on arrival. Every morning I was welcomed with coffee and a substantial breakfast. The house is absolutely gorgeous and covered in flowering bougainvillea and other plants and outside is a tap bringing fresh drinking water down from the mountains. I was offered a beautiful room (ask for room 2 with the big balcony upstairs facing the old town), which had only just been renovated. It was perfect down to the smallest detail of the design. The room was extremely spacious and very comfortable with lots of space for storage or hanging clothes. There was a large desk if needed and a fantastic balcony with magnificent views overlooking the old town, a small vineyard and some ancient ruins. The bathroom was modern with perfect plumbing and a lovely shower and there was even a kitchen with a large fridge and all the cooking facilities and utensils that might be needed. A lot of thought had gone into designing the perfect room and it was well lit with sockets by the bed. There was also plenty of parking. It's a very short walk from the old town and all the shops and restaurants and not far from the beach. Highly recommended and I hope to return one day.

If your looking for a place to relax and recharge your battery’s , then this is definitely the place to go!!
This was our second visit to pension sofi, and it was as amazing as the first one , we were welcomed at the port by Rena and Theo, everything felt so familiar, we did really feel part of the family.
We had the same room as last time which we loved and a nice bottle of wine waiting for us.
Beach Towels were provided when needed for out trips to the beach, which is a short bus ride away.
We hired a car from sofi and travelled the island to explore more beautiful beaches and surrounding areas.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink and everybody makes you feel so welcome.
Every precaution was in place to help fight covid 19 , The atmosphere was so relaxing and just what we both needed and we felt very lucky to of managed to get away.
I would strongly recommend this family run business for your stay in Naxos, and again we will definitely be returning and hopefully next time we can join in for the naming day celebrations.
See you next year !!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Pension Sofi! Sofi’s family made us feel welcome and relaxed and made us fall in love completely with Naxos!
The location of the pension is perfect: just a couple of minutes away from the center where the harbor, the Venetian castle and the shops and restaurants are.
The rooms are bright, clean and beautifully decorated. They have that traditional authentic touch that immersed us more into the island spirit.
But most of all, what we really loved here was the warm and welcoming hosts. They were very kind and helpful, answering to all our questions about the island and tourist attractions, offering advice as to which itinerary is best or what shouldn’t be missed. Although it’s specified there is no breakfast, every morning the hosts would surprise us with coffee (or ness!), homemade cakes, pastries or waffles and fresh fruit. Moreover, they would bring it to your door and you could serve it on the balcony of your own room. Even though, they said it’s a small treat, it meant a lot to us!
You can also rent a car directly from them and as a bonus they leave you a sun umbrella in the trunk (so you can explore the wild beaches without getting a sunburn).
Overall, it was an amazing first experience of Naxos, and we will definitely come back to Sofi’s when we’ll come back to Naxos!

Rena and her husband really looked after myself and my daughter with genuine hospitality but also very much appreciated helpfulness. The location is a short walk to the old town and the buses - in fact, if you buy bus tickets in advance, the bus to the beaches stops just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. They will meet you off the ferry or put you on the ferry and transport your bags for free too. Really a lovely stay and we hope to go back.

I needed a stopover between Sifnos and Astypalea and could not have made a better choice. It’s clear why Pension Sofi has been Travellers Choice! I stayed in Room 2 which was recently refurbished to a very high standard; it was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed, a great shower, a quiet fridge (not always the case) , a kettle, and even a two ring hob in case you wanted to prepare food yourself. It has a small bougainvillea covered balcony where you could take breakfast or relax at the end of the day and enjoy a great city view of the Kastro. It’s located near to the port and bus terminus which makes it easy to get around the island although to really enjoy Naxos I’d always recommend car hire as the bus times for the beautiful villages are limited. The main car park is very close by. Rena’s husband picked me up and returned me to the port which was much appreciated. Breakfast was offered from reception and varied from toastie with ham and cheese to apple cake with yoghurt, orange juice and coffee, and a piece of fruit. Guests collected breakfast on a tray and could enjoy in the comfort of their room or on your balcony. Rena offered great advice in where to visit and where to eat. This year - it’s definitely with making a dinner booking - or be prepared to walk for some time to fins somewhere. I discovered and tried Lithos for the first time and it was beautifully presented and very tasty food. For me Pension Sofia was perfect for my 3 day, 2 night stay. Thankyou Rena and family

Our stay at Pension Sofi was a highlight of our trip to Greece, and it was sad to leave their gracious hospitality and Rena's delicious baking. Her husband Theo picked us up at the airport and drove us back upon departure. We were greeted with warmth, cake, and abundant information to orient us and discover local highlights. Pension Sofi is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with careful attention to comfort down to the details of the lighting in each room. My adult son and I each had our own room, which were immaculate and reflect the pride this couple takes in a family owned business which was originally named after and run by the grandmother, Sofi. Through conversations with Rena and Theo, we learned interesting facts about living in Naxos, which enriched our experience. The place is conveniently located a short scenic walk to restaurants and stores, as well as the landmark Portara. I understand why other reviewers mention multiple stays at Pension Sofi, and I hope to be one of them.

The room was very modern and recently remodeled. Had a complete kitchen to include a stove of sorts. The bathroom was large by European standards and the shower was the best that we had experienced on the trip. Quite large with a nice rock floor. Good size deck for taking a morning coffee or evening wine. Only down side, is there were no dressers or drawers of any type. Wasn't a big problem, but seemed a bit odd.
They picked you up at the ferry and dropped us off at the airport at no charge.
The room actually had three beds, which was nice when you have a spouse that is a bit of a bed hog.
The walk into town was 7-10 minutes, on sidewalks. There was a nice bar about halfway up the hill that we stopped at most nights, to break up the walk back to the hotel.

We just stayed at this beautiful family run hotel for a girl’s trip! The owners and their family were so kind and accommodating. The hotel was beautiful and had the most gorgeous flowers and terraces. The location is super close to town so you can easily walk in to grab a bite or catch the bus to other parts of the island. The breakfast they provide in the morning is delicious and Rena communicated so well with me before the trip. Her husband picked us up from the port and brought us to the hotel and dropped our bags off at the port for us. I would definitely recommend Pension Sofi to anyone looking to stay in Naxos!

I cannot say enough good things about Pension Sofi! Even before arriving, I had several nice chats via WhatsApp with Rena. Her husband Theo met us at the pier, which was quite welcome after our ferry ride. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like family, enjoying Rena’s delicious homemade orange cake and refreshments, and advice on touring the island. Theo gave us some walking directions to the waterfront and to the Kastro (tip: watch for the Avaton sign...the elevator to the Avaton 1739 restaurant and Kastro is inside a building). The pension is in a great location, close to all the sites of Chora (and the bus station) but in a quiet area of the town. They can arrange for you to rent a car as well, although we opted to take the all-day bus tour of the island for only 30 euros (ask Rena or Theo for the nearby bus office). There are many restaurants nearby and we tried a couple of Rena’s recommendations, with great success. We booked the triple room #6 on the second floor, which had a balcony where we ate the simple but lovely breakfast (with homemade goodies) prepared by Rena every morning. The balcony had a nice view of the Venetian Castle and the pension itself is lovely with bougainvillea all around the exterior. Our room was spotlessly clean, and had a full kitchenette as well as an updated bathroom with terrific shower. The triple room was very spacious and comfortable for our four-night stay…even the price was quite affordable! We loved Naxos and simply adored Pension Sofi and its wonderful hosts, Rena and Theo.
