The best thing about Hotel Kranenturm is Mr and Mrs Lee. They both speak English and were helpful, kind and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is in a very old tower with no elevator and many stairs. No problem for us, even carrying our luggage (which Mr Lee helped with). The room was huge by European standards. We... More

Hotel Kranenturm was the first stop of our two-week trip to Germany. The nightly rate was great for what we got: A clean, comfortable tower room with a private bathroom and windows looking out to the Rhine River or the village. The village view was particularly magical in the morning when the sun hits Stahleck Castle, which overlooks Bacharach. Mr.... More

I reserved a room for me and my femily reading at the very good feedbacks I found here. I paied in advance 15 days before our arrival to be sure to get a room, as it seemed a romantic place! We arrived in the last part of the afternoon (I called during the day to tell that we were late,... More

My teenage daughter and I spent a few mother/daughter vacation days in Germany and wanted a home base in the Rhineland area so we picked Bacharach, a wonderful little town about an hours' drive from Frankfurt. We selected Kranenturm for our hotel - double bed with en suite (shower, toilet, sink) and breakfast. The room had the basics and the... More

Owners are very nice, the hotel is a gorgeous old tower, and the rooms are all different. Can be hot in the summer, but is totally worth it. Our room had two combined twin beds, a large fan, and a nice view of Bacharach. The food was good and the hotel was well decorated. We were part of a Rick... More

The location was perfect - it's close to parking on the main road. We were on the top floor in a family room. While the room was a little small, we did alright. I was concerned that we would hear the trains (they did provide earplugs that we did not use) all night, but it wasn't bad at all. The... More

We found this hotel through Rick Steve'S book and apparently the hotel was sold after him publishing the book. The hotel has no restaurant although breakfast was served. There were silks all over the chairs and beds. It was dark and absolutely not what we expected.

Friendly owners, free breakfast, charming old German building in a historic village...be sure to take the ferry to St. Goar too see the stunning Rhine valley of castles and vineyards. Rooms prices are reasonable. Free Wi-Fi and all major train lines go right into the town of Bacharach so you can get here easily.

We stayed in room number 8. It was the largest room on the third floor. The primary benefit other than the size was that you get a view from both sides of the castle. One that faces the Rhein and the other side faces the village. Very comfortable rooms that includes a fabulous breakfast in the morning. Mrs. Lee is... More
