This review is only on their bike rental service: Bikes are in really poor condition with rust and loose seats, only 3 speeds and just in general rickety shape from being old and kept outside all the time. The owner also is not always there consistently. He charges 12 Euro for an 8-hour rental. A much better choice in Bacharach...

We rented bikes here for a couple of days to ride along the Rhine (do not miss this!) The paths are pleasant and off-road for an enjoyable ride. Easy ride to the castle in Oberwessel (a bit of a trek up hill, but worth it). The older gentleman who rented them to us was so nice to our son (who...

Hotel Hillen is one of only a few places to rent a bicycle while staying in Bacharach. The bicycles are in average to fair condition and operate adequately. They have only 3 speeds which change, but not that responsively. There is a front hand brake with the rear brake engaged by back pedelling (rear foot brake). Fee is E12 for...

I really enjoyed staying in Bacharach, you can walk the entire town in about an hour or so- taking your time :) - I really like small towns like this in other countries, it gives you a really good idea of the real culture of a different nation - big cities kinda get to be all the same to me......

We got this hotels information from Rick Steve's Guide books (if your traveling Europe I highly recommend his books). Hotel Hillen had great service and were very accomodating, the breakfast was yummy (we were late to ours because we did not know the room came with breakfast). We stayed on a room that was right next to the rail tracks,...

We had a spacious room with a comfortable bed in the back of the house. The house is along the city wall right by the rail line, so ask for a room near the back if noise bothers you. The hotel is well-situated a short walk from the rail station and with a good view of the river. Iris was...

The manager was friendly and attentive. Our breakfast table was ready when we came down in the morning including a pot of coffee since that was our preference. The hotel is convenient to walking onto the city wall or walking a short block to the High street near plenty of cafe's and restaurants. The building is very old but the...

Hotel Hillen in Bacharach is a nice place to stay. The room was comfortable with a reasonable bathroom with shower. The decor is a little unfortunate, but nothing horrible. Breakfast was very nice. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Our family of six stayed at Hotel Hillen in May 2009. Iris, the owner, is very frendly and eager to please. She fixes a great breakfast of meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, bread, juice and coffee. Iris is happy to serve you and even gives you seconds. The rooms are frayed around the edges. The bed linnens and pillows are...

Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Our room faced the train tracks, but with the window closed, the sound did not bother us. Hotel staff was very nice and were accommodating of our late check in around 11pm. Delicious breakfast of breads, cheese, meat, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice. Wonderful place for an overnight stay.
