We checked in on 7/7 and out on the 9th. Way too short a stay on a magical island in a very special 5+ star hotel. Hotel de Toiras is as good as small hotel as anywhere in the world. We were upgraded to the George Washington Suite (George Washington's great grandfather was from Ile de Re, believe it or not.) Physically the hotel was old but perfectly maintained. Its location overlooking the harbor is the best on the island. But what makes this hotel so special is the staff and the service they deliver. We encountered about 10 employees. All of them were fabulous, and fortunately for us bi-or tri-lingual. As visiting Americans, we were made to feel like the most important and welcomed people to have ever visited this magnificent hotel. There are two recommendations here....if you're visiting France, 1. Put Ile de Re on your itinerary for a minimum of three nights, and 2. Stay at Hotel de Toiras. It is not cheap, but the value proposition there is as good as the hotel.

Dear Sir, What a pleasure to read your kind words, thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Hôtel de Toiras. I am honored that you choose Hôtel de Toiras for your stay in Ile de Ré and that you spent such a good stay with us. Our eighteenth-century mansion is dedicated to pure well-being and relaxation while retaining the soul of the old houses typical of the island. I personally decorated the house, with the assistance of Pierre-Yves Rochon (Designer of the Four Seasons Hotel George V), using furniture’s from Ralph Lauren or antiquities for example, in order to mix elegance and sophistication at the same time. Our location, at the entrance of the port of Saint Martin, allows our guests to discover the island by walk or bike, and enjoy the atmosphere of a seaside village. Thrilled to learn that you appreciated the service. Thank you so much for mentioning our staff, your satisfaction is the greatest reward for our team’s everyday involvement and passion. I would be delighted to welcome you again at Hôtel de Toiras. In order to organize your stay, feel free to contact my assistant, Lauren Médan (lmedan@olcm.fr), to arrange the details of your next visit. With my very warm regards, Olivia Le Calvez Owner of Hôtel de Toiras & La Villa Clarisse

From the moment you walk into this hotel there is an air of calm and elegance. The staff are polite and discreet and go out of their way to be helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated and overlooked the courtyard garden. The bed was huge and exceedingly comfortable, and we had the best night's sleep of our holiday! We walked the 5 minutes to the Hotel Clarisse where guests at the Hotel de Toiras can sunbathe in the peaceful gardens and use the small swimming pool. Towels and sun loungers are available, and the staff are as pleasant there as at Hotel de Torias. We were disappointed not able to have dinner in our hotel as it was fully booked, but the reception staff booked us a table at a restaurant a 3 minute walk away where we enjoyed an excellent meal. We had a delicious breakfast in the pretty courtyard garden the following morning. We used the hotel's valet parking, and our car was brought to the front of the hotel promptly, and we were sent on our way with bottles of water for the journey (including one for the dog!). In summary, we had a fabulous time and look forward to being able to make a return trip.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel de Toiras which is right in the centre of the harbour. It’s beautifully decorated and the rooms are extremely well equipped: lovely bathroom, comfy bed, and gorgeous furnishings.. We didn’t eat in the restaurant (which was fully booked) but you don’t need to because the hotel is very close to all the restaurants and bars. Guests also have access to a pool in their smaller sister hotel (Villa Clarisse) just up the road. If there was one thing I’d add, it would be tea making facilities in the room which, despite the availability of round-the-clock room service, would mean a little extra treat in the morning. But otherwise, perfect.

Dear Madam, Many thanks for your kind comment regarding your experience at Hôtel de Toiras. I am pleased to read that you spent beautiful moment with us. I am truly happy to see that you appreciated the decoration and equipment of your room. I personally decorated the house, with the assistance of Pierre-Yves Rochon (Designer of the Four Seasons Hotel George V), using furniture’s from Ralph Lauren or antiquities for example, in order to mix elegance and sophistication at the same time. My vision was to create a “Comme à la Maison” feeling, while providing a high end service. As you properly mentioned, our hotel is located in the center of the harbour and you can completely enjoy a dinner outside. Otherwise, I would be pleased to make you discover La Table d’Olivia next time you visit us. We offer you a wide variety of dishes made from sea food and fresh products from local fresh markets. Our chef, Thibault Peyroche, will be delighted to share with you his cuisine. I would be pleased to welcome you again at Hôtel de Toiras. In order to organize your futur stay, feel free to contact my assistant, Lauren Médan (lmedan@olcm.fr), to arrange the details. With my very sincere greetings. My husband and I just returned from this fabulous hotel in Saint Martin de Re. The service was unbelievable from start to finish. We spent three nights in a beautiful hotel room overlooking the harbor. Breakfast was made to order each morning at any time. They arranged for bikes for us to explore the island. We would recommend the Hotel de Toiras to anyone wanting intimate luxury, beautiful rooms and amazing service!!!

We loved every moment at Hotel de Toiras. St Martin is a very popular place but the charming team make sure that you have a totally relaxed stay. Parking in St Martin is a nightmare so its well worth investing in the valet parking option. One of the team takes the car to a completely secure parking lot about 7 minutes walk up the road and delivers the car when you leave. Our room overlooked the gorgeous, calm and verdant courtyard - a haven of tranquility. The location couldn't be better - as you glide out of the main entrance you are in the heart of things. We preferred to take our breakfast at a cafe a few metres away by the harbour. It seemed a shame to miss such wonderful marine ambience. Also for dinner we wanted to be in the town and the hotel booked us a table at Le Tout de Cru which had the freshest seafood and was fun. The restaurant has a fine reputation but the small dining area seemed rather quiet and isolated from the charm of the town. It all depends what you want. All in all we had a truly delightful stay and look forward to coming back.
