We were staying in a nearby Residence and kept driving passed, so we called in and booked a table for that evening, Madame proprietor took the booking and was quite chatty in english, when we arrived in the evening we were shown to our booked table and ordered a pineau each while we considered the menu. We liked the look of the €24 menu and wine by the pichet, so we had the local white with the local oysters and red with the excellent duck. The waitress spoke no french so I was forced into my french but managed without problem. I was impressed when I requested an alternative to the chips offered with the duck and she returned a few minutes later say chef would do courgette tagliatelle, it was delicious. Overall we were impressed for a bill of €63 including wine & tax! Would we recommend it and return that's a big yes.

It's a 6 hour drive to l'isle d'Oleron from Caen but it is a nice place to visit for a few days. This hotel provides small bedroom semi detached chalet accommodation. Wit en suite and shower so it is perfectly adequate. There's not much public space but some garden furniture is provided outside of each chalet. The pool is good for older kids. Best thing for me was the little snack bar at lunch time where fresh food (including moules) we're delivered in mere minutes. Very good quality food at very reasonable prices. For a longer stay , take a look at the chalets at Les Gros Joncs , these have full catering and loads of space around them. They can sleep up to 6 but I would say 4 max.

Stayed here for 5 nights half board at the beginning of September and found it to be well worth the money we paid. The room was spacious and cleaned every day. Staff were friendly and it was really peaceful (which is what we wanted). There is a pool on site and we had exclusive use as everyone must have been out on there bikes! The area is absolutely made for cyclists as they have cycle routes that criss cross the island so that you are not on the roads all the time. There are several charming typically French villages to explore as well as many monuments, lighthouses etc. The only down side to this hotel was the fact that on half board there was not a choice but they will try and find you something else if you do not like what is set out.
