We stayed during November, the room was okay nice view to the town. Good selection of food for breakfast with a nice breakfast room, the staff were all friendly and polite there is a nice garden to the front with seating outside if the weather is good. On the downside the majority of the restaurants in the main town were closed and the hotel we stayed in had very limited food options at night so we ended up having to go to Bayeux which is a 10 minute drive away. The only hotel that had consistently offered an evening meal in the Arromanches was Hotel de Normandie nothing special but it did the job. I’m sure that the town is busier during the summer season so please take this into consideration when booking in this area.
We had a fantastic two night stay in two rooms in this charming hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. Great bathrooms with fantastic bath products. Delicious hot and cold items at breakfast, including local fruit and cheese. Beautiful views from our rooms. Close to a host of historic sites. Walk to the beach. We wished we could have stayed longer. The only drawback was lugging suitcases up the narrow stairs but that is par for the course in this kind of property. Another thing to watch out for, but unrelated to the hotel: we arrived somewhat late the first night, around 9-10 pm and there is absolutely nowhere open to eat dinner within any reasonable drive. We tried to find a market or anyplace at all in Arromanches-les-Bains or Bayeux that we could pick up a bite. The only thing that saved us was a PIZZA VENDING MACHINE we spotted in a random parking lot. The machine cooked and dispensed fresh hot 12" pizzas with French influenced toppings (Camembert, apples, a tasty sausage, champignons ) that actually turned out to be pretty darned good.…
From the friendly greeting by the hotel manager, the wonderful recommendations in town, the easy access to the beach, the lounge experience at the end of the day, and the filling breakfast the next morning, we were impressed. We had a delightful stay and would highly recommend this elegant property, as well as the lovely town of Arromanches-les-Bains.
We came of course to see the D-Day sites. The hotel is very close to all the important sites in the area. Despite it being D-Day weekend it was pretty quiet in this town, perhaps because of COVID. We had a lovely room way up top in the old building and it had a beautiful view of the sea. We also saw some of the old D-Day planes flying by. The room was well maintained and in very good shape. Not a cheap room, but was clean as a whistle. I would stay again in this hotel.
This one was a sleeper for us. We were going to stay in Bayeux but found this charming little hotel on the bluff looking down on Gold Beach in Arromanches. You can walk about three short blocks to the beach and see the remains of the amazing Mulberry Harbor and the history museum and up to the bluff. The beach is vast when the tide is out and it is almost always nobody on it when I went walking. The rooms are comfortable, shower's great, bed is good. Excellent buffet breakfast with great coffee opening at 7:30 AM. The staff was incredibly helpful finding us a couple small restaurants that the locals like for dinner that we would never have found for ourselves and were inexpensive and terrific food. The location is very central with easy driving in the quiet roads and the hotel is peaceful. Cute little bar with cocktails and munchies but no restaurant on the premises except the excellent breakfast. The room rate is very reasonable. The sea view is a peekaboo view at best so maybe don't pay extra but the surf is right there. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the tour shuttles in Bayeux and the tapestry etc. So you get the sleepy quiet village with a terrific location. Win Win!…
When you are greeted by a rather sullen young woman who shows the two couples to our rooms and then announces after one couple had unpacked / made coffee that she had made a mistake the tone is set ! No amount of arguing would persuade her to let us stay where we were When we went out for dinner we asked about having a nightcap in the bar on our return she assured us the bar stayed open until 11pm We arrived back at 10.35 and she refused to serve us a drink saying there wasn’t a quorum but she could serve us drinks in our bedroom !! What a joke When we asked for a further explanation she was very rude Added to this was the very scruffy state of the gardens with dead flowers and weeds everywhere No air con so we had to sleep with our door open to the car park as there were no windows in our room number 19 The breakfast however was good with a decent selection I would not recommend this hotel…
This is a great hotel, in a peaceful location, walking into town is only 5 minutes away. Lovely decor and the rooms are well equipped. Staff are very friendly and attentive, the bar and lounge is perfect to relax with a drink after a busy day exploring. We'll really enjoyed our visit and will stay here again in the future
We stayed at the hotel whilst visiting Arromanches-les-Bains with friends. The hotel is situated on the road down to the town and it takes under 10 mins to walk down. Rooms are immaculately clean with everything you need. Communal areas are comfortable and we particularly appreciated the comfortable outside seating. Breakfast was excellent and worth the extra cost. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We hope to come bs k as we really felt we had found a gem.
After a long day travelling by ferry and car, it was nice to arrive at a lovely loooking hotel, and even better to be able to jump straight into the pool. We had three rooms spread around the hotel and were spacious and extremely comfortable. One of the rooms had a seaview (recomended ) and another had its own small terrace. One of the best things about the hotel was the fact that it was less than 10 minutes walk into the town centre and sea front. Throughout our stay the service was excellent, the breakfast was superb and the bar area was a perfect place to unwind in the evening. The garden area was also full sofas and deck chairs that made it perfect to relax in the shade (or the sun) All in all, we truely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay to explore Arromanches, and also the wider area. (one tip, visit Port-en-Bessin for the best scallop shell hunting)…
Our stay at Les Villas d'Arromanches was absolutely delightful. The staff were very friendly and the drinks at the bar were very good. The breakfast was delightful with many options of food and drinks. We really liked how the hotel was very close to the beach, restaurants and shops.
