We stayed here overnight on our way back from the South of France. Salers is a very quaint old town with very narrow streets and old buidings. This property lies in the middle of the town and took a little finding however it was well worth the effort. Our hosts Yann and Yvres made us very welcome, Yann speaks very... More

A Wonderfull place to stay in the centre of one of the prettiest villages in France a good base for walking ! The owners go out of the way to make you welcome and are a superb fountain of regional information . Rooms are clean and comfortable and an excellent variety of local products are served for breakfast .

Charming is certainly not a phrase wasted on this lovely auberge. Its locality within a village nominated one of the " most beautiful villages of France" is a pinnacle achievement considering its isolation, being well off the main transport route. This is volcanic territory and La Maison, like its neighbours, houses and stores are built out of volcanic rock The... More

As I mostly agree with the positive comments regarding the rooms, the service and the breakfast (which was great), I have to say that the owners must rethink their policies regarding the use of the Internet and their booking/payment partners. On one hand side, they obviously like to get bookings from people who found their place on the net, but... More

We stayed here in September 2013 and loved it. We still talk about it, and hope to return someday. The rooms, location, etc. are first rate, but what makes this place is the kindness and hospitality of the owners. They are so nice! We were interested in Cantal hiking, and Yann gave us spot-on recommendations for routes that we would... More

A warm welcome from both hosts, one of whom speaks good English. Delightful room at the top of the house right in the heart of the village. The hosts were attentive but not intrusive and very willing to share their local knowledge of the area, food specialities, and places to both visit and eat. Do not miss the local Salers... More

Rarely do you find a place that's so welcoming and friendly. They helped with hike suggestions, wine, restaurants and even gave us road directions all the way back to Caen. Great room and breakfast too. Really can't fault this place at all.

We only stayed one night in this great little hotel - just four rooms! The village of Salers is I'm sure one of the most delightful in this beautiful part of the Auvergne. The room was a good size and very comfortable. The hosts made us feel very welcome and showed us around before we went out to explore the... More

Summary: Warm welcome (in French and English), lovely accommodations, delightful hosts, a place for our bikes in the garden, parking for the car very close by, delicious breakfast, delightful conversation with our hosts and the other guests. Highly recommended! Details: Our room at the top of the Maison de Barrouze was beautifully restored and impeccably spotless, with exposed beams but... More

This chambres d'hotes is in a great location in the village of Salers, in the most beautiful part of the Auvergne. The house is built of grey local stone and the back garden overlooks the surrounding hills. There is ample parking nearby and you can park at the door to unload and load luggage. Yann and Yves are superb hosts,... More
