We attended hotel de l'europe in bad gastein from 09/02/2019 - 16/02/2019 for a skiing holiday with my dad and younger brother. This is a very grand building that is now largely fallen into disrepair. We arrived at the reception (within ginger'n'gin) to be greeted with a warm welcome, upon arrival we paid the 1000 euros plus for 7 nights usage of the hotel facilities. We found the breakfast was average consisting of various continental meats and eggs alongside cereal, although, this can get boring towards the end of the week. The room was clean however could've used a lick of paint and the bathroom sink had a hole within it so leaked through onto the floor. Towards the end of our trip skiing we had seen that the Red Bull Playstreets 2019 after party was being held within the hotel rooms on floor -1 (we were located in room 104 floor 1). We were told we could attend this event with no advertisement of a 10 euro entry fee for guests not staying at the hotel. Upon the night of the Redbull after party we (as guests of the hotel) were hungry and wanted to enter the hotel restaurant ginger'n'gin for some food. We were aggressively stopped by a security guard who told us we would have to pay 10 euros to enter the reception area of the hotel! We walked through and demanded we spoke to the hotel manager, he aggressively pointed his finger in my dads face as we clearly stated that this was not stated to us upon arrival that we would be banned from the ground floor and using the hotel amenities we had paid for. After several minutes suffering abuse from the hotel manager he threatened to call the police and get his security to remove us as we demanded a one-night refund as we could not use the full hotel services due to the manager putting profits before service. The manager then told us to f*** off and go to our rooms and ordered security to physically remove us. As a result we left upon our own free will to our room. At 3am the next morning we were rudely awoken by guests leaving the Redbull after party and trying to break into our hotel room, we looked outside and room number 106 had had its door handle ripped off by drunken guests trying to enter the locked room. Finally, we arrived back in the UK to an email from booking.com to be told the hotel manager had reported us as 'non-showing guests' to them, we can only feel that this was to try and receive double payment from booking.com and ourselves. We have forwarded our receipt onto booking.com as proof of payment and that we did indeed attend hotel de l'europe in bad gastein. This is a fraudulent claim and please be aware if you are booking this hotel! Service is shocking and the hotel manager should be removed from his position!

Some floors are completely abandoned (floor -4 to -2). Terrible customer service. Bad food. Unclean rooms. Probably the worst hotel I've been to. Here is a little story about why the customer service is terrible: I called in the afternoon to ask if a check-in at midnight was fine, was told over the phone that it was not a problem. We arrived at 12:15 and no one was at the reception, no one in the restaurant, no one answering the phone so we had to sleep in our car that night after 2 hours of trying to find someone. The next morning, when asking for an explanation, a despicable man named Thomas who is supposedly managing this awfully neglected hotel, started shouting at us, insulting us and threatening us. We stayed calm but could not manage to reason with the man. Overall a dreadful experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Hotel was quite an odd experience. Grand hotel Budapest meets Shining. The rooms and the corridors need definately renovating. The old grand structure should be saved (would be worth) and up-lifted to meet today’s requirements. In addition the temperature in the hotel was very cold and it was dark inside, the lights were not enough. I would have appreciated cleaning in the room during the week’s stay (emptying the trash cans etc.). The room door lock was broken, but repaired by our request. Also the room balcony’s doors did not lock at all. We closed the outside window blinds to have the door some way locked. The best thing in the hotel was the restaurant. Absolutely very good and tasteful food and the service in general very pleasant and professional. Breakfast was a little limited, but enough and very good.
