I had a great time at the Bearded Monkey. Yes, the rooms (I stayed at a single room) are very basic, but what more than a bed and a mirror do you need anyway? The staff is very friendly and helpful and made me feel like home within the shortest time. There is a big and cosy patio with free... More

My friends and I found bedbugs in several dorm bunks. Avoid! The staff was also notoriously unhelpful and unwilling to refund us. Atmosphere is nice but not shared with other critters, and the hostel is not responding.

I'm really shocked this place made it into the lonely planet. Since myself and a friend arrived we have had nothing but problems,. the shared dorm bathroom door has a big hole in it allowing everyone to see you do your business as well as no lock and it is stiff, gets stuck and makes a noise. the free coffee... We came here due to the recommendation of our Lonely Planet guidebook, but I really wonder why LP would recommend such a place. On the upside there is free coffee and wifi. You only pay 5$ for a dorm bed, but after one night you might come to the conclusion that even that price is too high. You might as... More

Stayed one night mostly for the shuttle to Poste Rojo. Sprung for a private room since it's cheap. You get what you pay for. Maybe not the cleanest, but it's still a bed, toilet and shower at a cheap price point.

It’s a basic hostel, cheap price as well as the other hostels in the area a great location in the center of the city nearby all the beautiful cathedrals of Grenada nice dorms with a big ceiling fan, small kitchen, many hammocks and a few animals in the garden (rabbits , turtles ) there is no hot water and some... This place is horrible. We checked in, Payed for the night and once we were about to settle in for the night, one of our friends was getting bitten by something. We inspected the beds and they were FULL of Bed Bugs and blood marks. We packed up our bags and told the young guy at reception, We told him... More

The staff here was amazingly accommodating. They answered all my questions and never got annoyed with my requests. I will say that I didn't like the top bunk because the ladder was narrow and hard to climb, but it was fairly comfortable otherwise. It was only $5 a night with good wifi and a nice vibe. There's a lovely courtyard... More

This isn't a good hostel. There's a leak in the roof of dorm #2 which means your stuff (or you) get wet during rainy season. The place in general is dilapidated with no locks on some of the bathrooms, overflowing refuse bins by the toilets and a small, dank kitchen. Contrary to what is said elsewhere, there's no bar either.... More

Spend 3 nights here. Staff was pretty friendly and knew a lot about the busses around town, however I can imagine they don't look that interested. Beds were clean the first day but a fresh sheet of linen every day would make it a lot better (the temperature was always high so you can imagine what my bed was like... More
