Minimal loft style accommodation mixed with Inter-Mediterranean elements. Emphasis on simplicity, chic design with unique shooting angles.
For this trip, relax lightly and choose Ava Koh Chang. The first thing to book is that the price is very cheap, dividing it out to a few thousand per person. Private atmosphere next to Kai Bae beach. Able to live in accommodation throughout the trip.
The design of the room is simple, minimalist style. The white tones are in line. Wide and open The bathroom is separated into dry and wet zones with complete amenities.
The swimming pool is in the center of the hotel and is large with a Pool Bar available or you can paddleboard. You can kayak with clear sea water as well.

The hotel is a little off the thoroughfare and has direct access to the beach. Grandiose is the long pool, where the loungers are often quickly occupied. At the sea there are other sunbeds and umbrellas. Access to the sea must certainly be improved. The stairs into the sea are dangerously slippery and you plump straight into the water. The rooms are large enough and the air conditioning is well regulated. The bathroom was extremely large with bathtub and extra shower, which was also well regulated. What didn't appeal so much were the following points. It was unfortunately not bright enough in the room, even if all the lights were on. Besides, it was quite damp in the room, presumably because the trigger in the bathroom did not work well. Anyway, after 2 days all the clothes were unpleasantly clammy. The hotel staff is very friendly and some ladies at reception speak very good English. The hotel manager Katie even knows a bit of German and makes every effort to make the stay pleasant. Breakfast can be enjoyed outdoors with sea views and offers both European and tasty Thai food. Also the coffee was very good. Near the hotel there are many restaurants. Especially recommended is the small feeding mile, which turns right after the transition over the small river.

The devil is in the detail. Some tiny things made a huge difference between our pleasant stay at AWA and our subsequent stay in another similar property on Koh Chang. When we arrived at AWA, there was no hot water in our room for the first two days. We did not complain since we assumed it was a general problem and did not consider it a big deal. On the third day, there were guys in our room replacing the water heater. Management was aware of the problem but installed us in the room anyway without saying anything. Every morning we were awoken by staff pushing trolleys around, clearing stuff, and getting ready for the day between 6 and 7. The evenings were noisy too. The other property, by comparison, was blissfully quiet. Could the trolleys not be fitted with better wheels and the staff instructed to keep the noise down? The safe in the room had been dismantled and did not work throughout the week.

Dear OleB61, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Awa Resort Koh Chang. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the issue with the hot water during your stay. AWA was an amazing experience from start to finish! The moment we stepped into the stunning lobby, we were impressed by the demanding beauty and atmosphere of the resort. The chic styling of both the rooms and the property added a touch of luxury to our stay, making it perfect for families, couples, or anyone visiting Koh Chang.
The spacious family room we stayed in offered excellent value, and the pool was a real highlight—long, warm, and ideal for both relaxation and swimming. Though the beach isn’t directly accessible, a short walk to Kai Bae Beach made up for it.
The staff were incredibly attentive, helping us organize a fantastic snorkeling excursion. I highly recommend Awa Resort to anyone looking for a peaceful and stylish retreat on Koh Chang!

At the end of a group trip, a few days beach. Nice hotel. Very spacious, clean room and bathroom. We had a room ground floor by the pool. Higher rooms were slightly smaller (due to corridor) Plate of fruit on arrival. Rich breakfast buffet, just no bacon. Lunch once, was also fine. Hotel out and you are already at various shops, massage and eateries. They're all OK, too. Thai massage in hotel/beach was firm! On arrival was Chinese New Year and we had at hotel buffet on the beach with fire show. Everything definitely worth repeating. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We have now been to Klong Prao Beach 15 times in what was then Emerald Cove and this is the 3rd time in AWA. Compared to Emerald Cove, there are a few unusual things. It starts with booking, as it is not done through the hotel but through Griffin Comp. Overall, the staff are "tastile friendly" but it is all very impersonal. If you book the hotel for around 4 weeks each time, I think there should be a manager there who you can talk to. The most important employee in the hotel is Chhayrong/Heng from Cambodia. His service is absolutely great. There are so many things that a good manager should know. But he obviously doesn't care. I've never seen it like that before. I can't understand the philosophy here. "Long-stay residents" are obviously not valued. Time and again, guests pay less for the same room via booking platforms than we did for almost 4 weeks. Absolutely incomprehensible and a huge mistake by management.

Located right by the sea, with a beautiful pool and massage services on the beach, the hotel features an open design and a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, conveniently situated near restaurants and small shops, with motorbike rental available. Towels, pool towels, and bed linens are very clean. We especially enjoyed the happy hour here, sitting and watching the stunning sunset—it was truly beautiful.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would return. The rooms are very large and bright during the day for us a little dark in the evenings but this is typical of hotels in Thailand. The girl who cleaned our room was lovely and cleaned very well in what can’t be an easy job in the heat. The look of the hotel is very impressive however design seems to have more importance than being practical the breakfast area takes over a large area but the breakfast buffet area is so close together that you constantly had to move for other people especially the egg station were it was very congested at times with a little thought this area could have been more customer friendly with easier flow of people. But this is just an opinion. We had been in the hotel a few days and felt the team mat breakfast seemed to lack any organisation . Friendly and polite but tables not cleared then the arrival of Mr T the new food and beverage manager and wham in a quiet manner he seemed to get the staff to pull together he himself always busy clearing tables checking if we wanted anything so it was a pleasure to watch him transform the staff into happier people I hope Mr T stays he is indeed an asset. We also found CHHay Rong a most delightful and well spoken young man who worked hard with initiative to get on with the job , he spoke very good English and always checked that we were ok. We stayed in this hotel for 9 days and it might seem trivial but the toaster never worked even if you put the bread back several times it just came out warm not toast management please get this fixed this area in a morning was always full of western guests saying here we go again forming a large queue for what should be a simple task. Our room was a front facing sea view and what a view, magnificent watching the sunset and just to laze away a little time we had room 630 on the third floor a lovely room which had sea and pool views, but this hotel does attract a lot of families and sometimes the shouting and screaming from the pool drove us nuts. I understand people are on holiday but for us this was a real downside to the hotel. They did offer to move us but of course you have to wait until another room is available so it would have been a wasted day of our holiday and probably only slightly less noisy so we decided not to move but staff did all they could to help. Would we return to this hotel yes but we would ask for a quieter room before check in. The location of the awa couldn’t be better lots of bars and restaurants right outside. A new bar red monkey directly opposite gajapuri resort was our favourite stop off point.

Poor would not have been fair but this hotel was cheaply and poorly designed and is in need of a modernization and change . Room furniture needs an urgent upgrade , general look needs to be refreshed for sure the painting , and what about this very ugly block you look at every time you try and enjoy the swimming pool long chairs ( speaking about long I have never sat on such a short long chair ) being the dining room . Bed is comfortable , tv near useless for none Thai speakers , bathroom smells really bad and water stream in shower and bath is so low you can hardly take a proper shower/bath . Food and beverage , breakfast is boring and mostly of poor quality with cooked items being overcooked . And what about the salads that are not fresh but partially from frozen vegetables . The weird stuff at breakfast such as fish steak with baked potato’s but the winner is the chicken massaman curry I tasted it had a ketchup taste . Most of the staff is friendly many do not speak English and a few of the staff are obnoxious for sure this one weird man at reception . The entire area of this island looks in poor shape and pretty much in need of a change . We enjoyed our stay but do not think we will be back soon .
