The location is seafront not beachfront as seen from photos if you bother to do some simple research. However, the resort provides a man made sand area with furniture overlooking the sea. Alternatively, walk a mere 2 minutes down the main road to access White Sands beach.
The property enjoys a 7-11, Macro and beer bar complex nearby. It is only a short walk to White Elephant Sports bar and to restaurants, travel agencies and your typical beach shops down along the main road.
The seaside complex provides an infinity pool, a long pool beside the bungalow rooms, beach bar and restaurant where all guests partake breakfast. Both the seaside and hillside complexes have a dedicated reception area. I found staff at both were friendly and probably able to assist you if you have done no research about Koh Chang.
On this visit I opted for a hillside room as I was seeking overall value. I had read reviews that seaside rooms can be affected by noise at night emanating from the nearby beer bar complex. My room was situated on the east side of the building (3 floors) and was not affected by any noise at night. I even had a water view from my balcony.
My room was spacious and clean. The aircon, fridge and TV worked fine. The wardrobe had hangers with some shelving space. A long bench space with drawers to place your things. A small table and two children was useful. Lighting was very good.
The bathroom was also modern looking with segregated shower recess. Good hot water with good pressure.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. All the possible food options have you covered including an egg station. Enough seating given the number of guests coming and going.
Overall, the resort and my room provided me with what I wanted, a comfortable and quiet stay.

The hotel is average. It has a gorgeous infinity pool looking out onto the sea (the best bit of this hotel). There is no beach (sand) though you can access the sea from the hotel. The pool area could be swept to make it cleaner. Location is quiet. There are 2 sites, one on the seafront and the other on the hillside. There is the main road between them. There's an ATM machine and 7 Eleven next door. It is about a 10min walk to access the actual beach area of White Sands beach. Some staff spoke good English and were polite. My room was on the first floor and had a balcony with a view of the hillside pool. The room was large, the bathroom much smaller. There was hot water in the shower and the pressure was very good. The room was dated and tired looking. Though comfortable and clean. The breakfast was buffet style, no vegetarian hot options, just salad bar, fruit and egg station, bread/toast, cereal. I was upgraded, I was told which was nice of them. I stayed 3 nights. The only issue I had was on my last day a member of staff had tried to enter my room early evening. I was just finishing in the shower and heard the door open, and quickly grabbed my towel. I had put the latch on the door so they were unable to enter. I did open the door to look to see who it was. I immediately called reception and was told it was a cleaner from housekeeping and not to worry. However that did concern me as why would housekeeping come to my room that late especially after my room had been cleaned that morning. I did do a check of my belongings and nothing was taken. I reported it on checkout to the male receptionist who was friendly and spoke excellent English. He said he'd make a note and look into it as no one should have entered my room at that time.

Chang Buri

I feel like this place is on the cusp of either been absolutely run into the ground or becoming great again. It could go either ray… it just needs a good clean and a bit of maintenance.

We had a pool villa and it was lovely, but not very clean. All the windows were absolutely filthy. The bathroom was dusty and hadn’t been cleaned properly food from the previous people, the shower screen …. Under the bed was disgusting…

The gardens were the only place where on the morning you can see loads of people picking up all the leaves, making them look really nice but areas such as the restaurant where no one cleared the tables, the pool bar was shoddy, ‘welcome drinks’ were a joke… It’s all the kind missing the spot.

The Sunbeds were broken and the pads for Sunbeds were all split. Our private pool was a bit manky, the jets didn’t seem to work, neither did the outside lights, the door bell, etc etc. all the towels were threadbare and the pool towels were all stained.

It just needs a bit of TLC. There were absolutely loads of staff but most of the time they were just sat around on their phones or fishing (!) only the bell boy and gardeners seemed to earn either keep. Some were dressed in uniform, others, such as the guy who checked us in were dressed in joggers and hoodies.

It could be so nice but it’s just lost that sparkle and is on a downward spiral.

Also, we accidentally broke a glass in the room. We were totally upfront about this but they wanted to charge us 300thb for it! Let’s put that in perspective, that is a full days minimum wage or the hire of a scooter for a day. Our meal the night before was less than that including drinks.
I refused on the grounds that I was happy to pay for the glass but not some ridiculous hiked up price. Hardly the actions of a classy hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed at the hillside. The room was spacious and clean. It featured a balcony and mini fridge. Loved the blackout curtains. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. There were not many guests. So it was a small Western breafast, but you could order Thai dishes from a menu for free. The pool on both sides were lovely. As many mentioned there is no direct beach in front, but there are stairs to access the ocean. Location is great. 7Eleven, shops and restos nearby. Only downside: The hotel has two complexes which are devided by the main road. So if you stay at the hillside you have to cross that street for breakfast every morning.

Great hotel.
Let's rest now. February 2024 Beautiful well-kept area. Beautiful Infinity pool by the beach. The building near the mountain has its own garden with a swimming pool, where there is a wonderful aroma like in a spa. The room is clean. There is a safe, refrigerator, kettle. We live near the mountain on the 3rd floor, from the balcony you can see the sea. Very tasty breakfast. There are no insects either in the room or on the beach. On the beach you need to go down 3 steps into the water and immediately swim. To find the sandy entrance to the water, walk 200 m from the hotel to the right. Nearby there is a large grocery store and various cafes. It's quiet at night. This hotel has very picturesque views of the water, mountains and palm trees. We would come back here again.

Just imagine the infinity pool, floating into the sea...
What a sight when you come down the stairs,on your way to your beach bungalow with a small private pool, escorted by wonderful staff, who are genuinely happy to see you again.
It's the smiles and the nice feeling of hospitality, the way they can make you feel at home, that makes us come back to this wonderful resort.
Breakfast offers a wide range of delicious food.
Crispy fresh salad of many colors and tastes, yoghurt or cold milk, nice coffee and toast with real butter.
Cakes, pancakes and waffles for those with a sweet tooth. If you prefer hot breakfast, there's all kinds of Thai dishes with rice or rice soup.
Slightly hovering friendly staff make sure the whole buffet is always abundant and the tables are cleaned up fast to cater for the next guest.
No beach I'm afraid, but gently steps take you down into nice and warm seawater. Mind the current though, it can be strong at times.
After a nice swim, you can relax and enjoy a healthy fruitshake or a cold beer.
Evening dinner by the seaside is part of the luxurious experience to end the day, only a few steps away from your 'home'
Enjoy the richness in flavors from Thai cuisine or enjoy a burger with some fries.
Nights are quiet, except for frogs and night creatures, but that's a great sound for falling asleep after yet another day in heaven.
Krob Khun Ka to all the staff.

This place is still like paradise to us. We had a poolside Villa which was clean and spacious. The pool and sea were marvellous to swim in and the poolside bar/cafe returned after our Covid visit. Watching the sunset from the front is special.
The breakfasts were very good catering for cultural tastes.
The staff were excellent and can we commend Mark who was brilliant throughout our 5 day stay.
Location was good too as it was a gentle stroll to the bars/cafes/restaurants and also White Sands

A wonderful hotel with nice, big rooms and great view of the ocean (although not directly beside the sea). I love the bed and the toiletries offered. So comfy the bed really was. The best part of the room was perhaps the sitting corner where you can read a book and at the same time looking out to the pool and the sea. The buffet breakfast was great with wide selection. The pool was shallow enough for non-swimmers to enjoy and deep enough for swimmers to do their laps. The sea just outside the hotel has really soft sand floor (you need to swim out 3 meters from the shore line to avoid the rocks) and it was a joy to swim in.

If you stay here, in our opinion you shouldn’t, however if you still do be sure that you get the room at Hillside. Then probably you are able to have sleep. The Seaside is opposite of local red light street and volume of music was something infernal. In music festival in Scandinavia you are not allowed to play music that loud. Music is played over 03.00pm. We couldn’t sleep at all. Our three years daughter was scaring because the volume was so high.
We left after one night. Most probably it would have been the case also without the noise problem; the quality didn’t meet our normal standards.
Our room was sideside suite. Not so fabious it may sounds. The room has been nice maybe 15 years ago but they haven’t done any fixing/renovating after that.
The fridge for example was so old and HOT that we worried if it will burn during the night. In the end we just turned it of for emergency reason.

Wifi is very weak.

Pool were nice both Seaside and Hillside. Unfortunately service was very minimalist at both pool areas. No good pool bar Seaside nor Hillside. There are kind of beach towels available at Seaside but no at Hillside.
There is no beach front of hotel but there is stairs from pool that you are able to swim at sea.

But every sky has silver grain, the breakfast was awesome. Incredible good both quality and quantity.
