Reception staff were friendly and cheerful.
We had booked triple rooms for 5 nights due to late booking. I assume double rooms are an option. The buildings are aged but fairly well maintained. The room was clean with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in around Thailand. Eveything worked just fine. The cleaning ladies were doing their thing on a daily basis.
The breakfast was adequate. Juices, coffee, toast, fried eggs, omelet, hotdogs, thai dishes more than enough fuel for day's activity. Anyone who is critical of breakfast is just a whinger IMHO.
Our group came together one day for lunch at the restaurant. No complaints from any group member about the food.
I did not use the swimming pool as I'm a beach person. It did look well maintained with a number of sunloungers and deck chairs provided.
To the reviewer who compared Banpu with Kacha I say they are incomparable. Why? Well the Banpu property has been established a lot longer than Kacha. Plus Kacha is not a beachfront property and their rooms, albeit more modern looking are at the same time a lot more expensive.
Overall, I found Banpu good value for money and I enjoyed my stay here.
The curtains in the room don’t make the room completely dark, however, the dark (anti-spy) windows helped a lot, so it didn’t bother us to much. Wi-Fi connectivity is not really strong on the resort. When it’s not cloudy, people put towels on the sunbeds already and come (far) after breakfast, so on these days you need to be early to have one.
The pool area is small and all the sunbeds were reserved before breakfast with towels, books etc but luckily the beach is near. :)
Staff were very pleasant and polite.
Breakfast was adequate, but can be a bit limited if you don’t enjoy Thai food for breakfast.
Whilst the rooms were clean, the whole wooden decor was tired and in need of renovation. My wardrobe door was warped and didn’t shut properly. A lot of the tiles on the shower floor were crumbling at the edges or missing.
Not saying it was the case for all the rooms, but my room was pretty dark and exacerbated but poor lighting.
I am not sure how this place got 8.1 compared to Kacha Resort 8.2 100 times better
I would rate this around 5 or 6
It has a mainbuilding with 2 floors and several bungalows in the garden. Rooms are very clean with wooden floors, AirCon, Fan, Mosquito Net, TV and balcony. Very nice bathrooms though you have to hurry up if you want to shower before dinner to get enough hot water.
Pool is small but with view on the sea and the mountains.
The beach is very nice for swimming but there are some little rocks right in front of the hotel.
Lunch at the beach restaurant is very good.
I would always recommend the Deluxe Bungalows as they are in the garden. The Superior Rooms in the mainbuilding are quiet noisy - the backside (entrance) is facing the mainstreet and you can hear the cars and motorbikes.
Very annoying: many guests put their towels on the sunchairs at 7am already.
So far so good - after we arrived at the Banpu we had the first disappointing expierience. Instead of getting one of the beachfront bungalows we were assigned to the only one in the back of the garden with almost no beach view and a really bad interior design. The linens were dirty and ripped. The towels were clean - but also ripped and really old. This would have been still acceptable since we are not used to high comfort resorts, but still very disappointing for the high price. The real shock was the moldy, unbearable, terrible smell in the whole bungalow.
We immediatly wanted to change the room but the very unfriendly staffperson told us that this was not possible since the resort was fully booked.
On the next day we were still really disappointed so we were happy as hell after one of the staffpersons told us that we could move to one of the beachfront bungalows. But it only got worse. The smell was indeed as bad a as in the first room (if not worse). During the night we found a bloodstench on the linen which was not caused by us and at last the aircondition broke down. It was not a malfunction - it really broke down and lost about 4 liters of water.
After all we slept 4 hours on the balcony and were bitten by mosquitos all over. On the next day we checked out one night earlier and i had to discuss with the manager via phone because i refused to pay for the last night.
So: STAY AWAY!!!
I found this place a superb place to stay and what tremendous value to boot.
Room 200 is where I stayed and it was spotless and well presented. Air con was efficient, faultless and has quiet setting for the night. Bed was really comfy and massive with clean sheets every day!! The cleaners do a brilliant job.
Bathroom beautiful with nice shower cubicle, vanity unit, selection of shampoos etc, and the great shower type loo!!haha..
T.V, coffee and tea making facilities, fridge mini bar, hairdryer, safe box...everything!!
Little verandah to the front overlooking the tropical gardens and a slight sea view...shielded from any noisy pool activity,,very peacfull.
I stayed for four nights in the rainy season and had fantastic weather with the occasional refreshing rain shower. Right on the beach with access to all the lovely bars and restaurants.
Pool area is excellent, clean with super views, free towels, pool bar and restaurant serving cocktails and nice snacks.
Breakfast buffet very good with fruit, toaster, Thai, English and Continental food to choose from and eggs and omlettes cooked fresh to order...all lovely.
Large lounge reception area with books and press to relax in.
Cost me about £115.00 for four nights inclusive...brilliant value!!
Anyone who is not satisfied with this place has got to lead a very high lifestyle back home...
